Fifth chakra meditation,
Begin by finding a seat or you could stand.
Notice the surfaces of your body that are touching the earth.
Imagine that those body parts could grow roots into the earth,
Allowing you to get very grounded and stable.
And then with your mind's eye,
Bring your awareness to your pelvis.
If you'd like,
You could bring a little bit of movement to your pelvis,
Channeling some of the energy of water,
Allowing this movement to bring your body into dynamic alignment.
And then bringing your awareness up to your navel center and to your solar plexus,
Feeling the three-dimensional nature of your abdomen and your ribs.
Perhaps here imagining the element of fire,
Noticing how your lower chakras can stack upon each other.
And then taking your awareness up to your heart,
Breathing into your heart space,
Connecting to the element of air,
Feeling how your lungs can expand and your heart can be nourished.
And then taking your awareness up to your throat,
Noticing your throat space.
The element here at the fifth chakra is vibration.
It's about sound.
It's about being able to speak what is true and being able to hear and being able to listen.
It's being able to speak when necessary and being able to sound.
The air that feeds your heart chakra and lungs ultimately helps support your voice.
Take in a deep breath,
And then on your exhale,
Allow yourself to hum.
Notice that vibration in your throat and in your head and in your ears.
Try that again with a nice deep breath in,
And then exhale with a hum.
Hum.
Allowing your voice to be full.
Notice your tongue.
The root of your tongue is connected to your throat.
Notice if there's any tension or sensation in your tongue.
Are there places where your tongue is holding back?
This chakra is both about speaking what is true and also about being able to discern when speaking is appropriate.
For many of us,
We hold back speech,
Sound,
Things that need to be said because our culture doesn't allow it.
Our culture doesn't allow truth to be said.
See if you can visualize vibration in your throat radiating throughout your body,
Coming from your throat and radiating throughout your body and into the world.
Your vibrations can change the world.
You can affect change using your voice,
If your voice is tended to.
The throat chakra also presents at the back of the neck.
Notice the back of your neck.
Does it feel calm,
Smooth,
Easy,
Or does it feel tense?
Notice that.
Notice if you relax your tongue,
Is there any change to the back of your neck?
Come in again to a deep breath and see if you can imagine the air that nourishes your heart and your lungs and your whole body soothing your throat and your neck as it enters.
And then imagine it soothing your neck and your throat on the exhale as the air exits.
Maybe you could feel or imagine the way that your throat expands on the inhale just as your lungs expand.
And then perhaps you could feel or imagine the way that your lungs get smaller on the exhale as does your throat.
Softening and soothing on the exhale.
Let this breath cause soothing vibrations in your throat.
Allow it to nourish you.
Allow it to fortify your voice and bolster the words and sounds that you can create to help the world and your community be a better place.
As you're ready,
Take your hands over your heart,
Creating a heart seal,
Softening your chin down to your heart to signal to your body that your meditation for today is complete.
Thanking your body for the work it's done for you today.
