Meditation for the second chakra.
Find a seat,
Or you could also do this standing if it's more comfortable to you.
Begin by noticing the places in your body that are touching the floor.
Notice them.
Feel yourself still and stable in your meditation space.
And now bring your attention to your pelvis.
Begin by moving your pelvis in small movements.
Maybe you can notice the way the joints move.
You could gently rock forward or back,
Side to side.
And maybe creating circles with your pelvis or figure eights with your pelvis.
And then bring yourself back to stillness and see if you could imagine your pelvis filled with water,
Beautiful,
Clean,
Fresh water filling your pelvis,
Almost like your pelvis is a basin that could hold the water.
And then again,
Come back to a little bit of movement here in your pelvis,
Letting that basin gently slosh the water around in different directions.
Your second chakra is the source of movement.
It's the source of creativity.
It connects you to the element of water.
Come back to stillness and see if you can imagine the water in your pelvis moving gently down toward the floor.
So it's filling your pelvis and it's also filling your lower body and then connecting the roots into the earth.
Even in stillness here,
See if you can imagine how that water could fill you up.
Water is life.
It's the life force of the planet and it's your life force.
Connecting deeply to that pelvic space as a source of connection to others,
Connection to fertility,
To our ancestors and to our descendants,
Both physical and metaphorical.
The second chakra also allows us to connect to a sense of play and maybe even here in stillness,
You could imagine that water like a well spring,
The source coming from your pelvis but then like a geyser coming up through your body,
That this playful energy from your pelvis,
Even in stillness,
Could fill your whole body with a sense of creativity and playfulness,
Noticing the way that your pelvic energy,
Your sacral chakra,
Can also connect you to a sense of joy.
This is mother energy,
Regardless of your gender,
So this energy in our pelvis can connect us both to our literal mothers,
To our metaphorical mothers and also to mother earth.
And sometimes this part needs re-mothering.
If you'd like,
You could place your hand upon your pelvis,
Offering your sacral chakra a chance to be parented by you.
Even if it was not cared for when you were younger,
It can be cared for now.
Notice your breathing.
Could you breathe deeply into the basin of your pelvis,
Allowing your breath and your diaphragm to massage your pelvis,
To build energy in this well spring of creativity,
To nurture yourself?
The second chakra is also about sensuality,
Meaning of the senses.
So notice how connecting to your pelvis might help your whole body sense a little bit more.
Could you breathe through your skin?
Could you hear with the back of your head?
Could your sacrum,
The back of your pelvis,
Have its own ability to sense the space behind you,
Allowing that watery energy to fill your body both up and down,
To connect you to the waters of the earth and to the waters of the sky,
Allowing your own creativity and your own sense of connection to others to be settled there in your pelvis?
And then place your hands gently over your heart space.
Soften your chin toward your chest.
Let this mark the end of your meditation for today,
Honoring your body for the work it's done for you today.
