Meditation for the first chakra.

Find a comfortable place to sit.

And make sure that your space feels stable and relatively safe.

Notice your lower body.

Notice your tailbone.

Notice your lower limbs,

If you have them.

Breathe as though you could breathe into your lower body.

See if you can imagine the way that your lower body creates a sense of stability.

It holds your upper body.

Feel your upper body upright.

And your lower body heavy,

Stable,

And grounded.

Imagine that you have deep roots growing out of your lower body into the earth.

These roots connect you to fertile soil below you,

To your ancestors,

To all the different parts of yourself.

Imagine that nourishing health comes into those roots.

And up into your body from the earth.

Breathe fully.

Notice how those roots can allow your upper body to reach up toward the sun,

Toward the heavens.

See if you can imagine how those nourishing roots bring nutrients all throughout your body,

Bring you a sense of safety,

A sense of strength,

A sense of stability and groundedness.

Feel your body.

You are here on this planet,

In this room,

On this earth right now,

At this moment.

And see if you can really notice and sense your skin,

Your bones,

The surface below you.

Notice your breathing again.

Feel your upper body upright once more.

And still feel how your lower body is anchored down into the earth.

You are matter.

You are weight.

You are gravity.

Your existence matters.

Your body matters.

If your eyes are closed,

Gently open them partway so that you can see yourself in your space.

If you're inside,

You'll notice the room that you're in.

If you're outside,

You might notice nature around you.

Say to yourself,

I am here.

I am here.

I am here in this moment.

And then you can keep your eyes slightly opened or you can close them again.

Come back to your breathing.

Notice it.

And see if you can root your breathing into your body so you're noticing your breath,

Which is really your lungs.

And you're noticing your breath and your lungs inside this vessel,

This body made of bones and skin and muscle and tissue,

Cells and organs.

Feel the density of what you're made of.

And then gently soften your chin toward your chest.

Rub your hands together and build a little heat there.

Place your hands on top of your heart as a way to seal your practice for today.

And then as you're ready,

You'll lift your head and open your eyes.

The meditation practice for today is complete.

Thank you.
