This 10-minute guided meditation was created to train you on a slow, rhythmic breathing pattern that is a healthy way to breathe throughout your day to day life. Just follow along with the music breathing in & out to help your heart & nervous system work at peak efficiency. Note: For best results use headphones as there's a 10Hz alpha binaural beat throughout the meditation to aid in the relaxation & alignment.

Transcript

Let's begin by sitting up straight,

Relaxing your shoulders and closing your eyes.

For today's meditation,

You'll be breathing in and out through your nose at a consistent five and a half second rate along to the music.

Let's begin.

Inhale through the nose every time the music starts,

And then exhale through the nose every time the music goes again.

Focus on filling up the belly with air and right away exhaling through the nose,

Emptying the belly of air.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Inhale.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Inhale.

Just follow along to the music,

Inhaling and filling up the belly,

Exhaling and emptying the belly.

At this five and a half second inhale,

Five and a half second exhale pace,

You're breathing roughly five and a half breaths per minute.

This is a calming practice that you can use when you're feeling anxious or stressed.

Just keep breathing in and out,

Filling up the belly on the inhale,

Emptying the belly on the exhale.

Again,

If you get lost,

If you get off pace,

Just pause and jump back in when the next wave comes.

Just breathing in and out along to the music,

Starting over anytime you need to.

Inhale.

Inhale.

Inhale.

Inhale.

Inhale.

Inhale.

Know that like anything in life,

The more you practice,

The better you get.

The goal here is just better breathing.

This five and a half pattern is proven to be an optimal pace,

Helping your body work in the most efficient manner possible.

When your body is operating efficiently,

You're better equipped to handle stress,

You'll sleep better,

And ultimately you'll feel better.

Inhale.

Pay attention to your breathing.

It comes and goes like a wave to the music.

Inhaling through the nose and filling the belly up with air,

Exhaling through the nose and emptying the diaphragm of air.

If you lose your pace or you lose your place,

There's no shame or judgment or guilt necessary.

Just take a moment,

A little pause,

And then start again,

Jumping back in when you're ready.

Breathing in.

Breathing out.

Breathing in.

They say the quality of your breath shapes the quality of your life.

This five and a half second breathing pattern is training you to take high quality breaths at a pace that's good for your body.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Inhale.

Exhale.

Inhale.

As we're winding down here for today,

Make a conscious effort to return to this practice often.

Interesting exercise. About two or three times, I had to break out of the rhythm to get a deep breath. I was doing deep breaths throughout, but the pace and regularity of the music felt so unfamiliar with respect to my usual breathing pace that I actually felt a bit short of breath. Is this typical? πŸ™
