Emilyna and Snail visit the doctor.
Emilyna found a large,
Shiny snail in the garden.
The snail pulled its bumpy,
Wet head inside its smooth shell and disappeared.
Oh,
Said Emilyna,
I wish you'd come back out.
But the snail stayed inside its shell.
I'll call you Rosie Anna,
She said.
She slipped the round snail into her pocket and skipped to the front yard.
The big tree in her front yard had strong,
Low branches.
Emilyna climbed up,
Hung her legs,
And reached for the grasses.
But the snail slipped from her pocket and fell crack onto a little rock.
Oh no,
Said Emilyna.
She plopped down from the tree and picked up the cracked snail.
Emilyna ran to find Mama in the house.
Mama,
She yelled,
Mama,
I broke my snail.
Mama walked in from the kitchen holding fresh garden lettuces.
She looked into Emilyna's hand.
I see,
Said Mama.
I feel sad,
Said Emilyna.
I know you do.
I feel a little sad too.
Mama gave Emilyna a hug.
You know,
We're just about to leave to see Dr.
Sara.
The chyapactor?
Emilyna asked.
Pactor,
Cried out little Jack,
Emilyna's little brother.
Mm-hmm,
Said Mama,
The chiropractor.
Chiropractor.
Jack's nose is really full with mucus,
And the doctor's adjustment can help.
Can I bring my snail,
Asked Emilyna.
Look,
She's got lots of mucus too.
Emilyna pointed to the crack on the shell where the snail's wet slime was bubbling through.
Emilyna,
Dr.
Sara works with the human spine.
She isn't a snail doctor.
I know,
But maybe she can help.
All right,
Said Mama.
At the office,
Dr.
Sara greeted Emilyna and Jack.
Hi,
You two.
Are you ready for an adjustment today?
Adjustment,
Said Jack.
I need an adjustment for my snail,
Said Emilyna.
Dr.
Sara looked surprised at the cracked snail and then smiled.
Let's let Jack go first,
Said Mama,
And Emilyna sat down to wait.
Mama explained about Jack's extra mucus to the doctor.
All right,
Let's take a look at your neck,
Jack.
We can help your spine move free,
And then your nose should drain more easily.
Mama laid down on the cushy table,
And Jack climbed up on Mama,
Just like every time.
He laid down his head on her chest and smiled.
Dr.
Sara wiggled Jack's neck and pressed on Jack's shoulder.
Was that tickle?
She asked.
Tickle?
Laughed Jack.
Dr.
Sara used a small tool on Jack's neck that made a loud clicking noise.
There,
She said,
And there.
That helps nudge it back into place.
Then your body will do the rest.
Jack's thick mucus looked thin and clear now.
Is that like magic?
Asked Emilyna.
It kind of is,
Smiled Dr.
Sara.
It's something amazing that works even when you can't see it.
You know your snail can actually heal itself too,
Just like our bodies.
It can?
Asked Emilyna.
But what about all of the mucus?
Does it need adjustment?
No,
In Jack's case part of his spine was just barely blocking the way for his mucus to move through and carry out some waste from his sinus.
The adjustment helped his spine move into place.
Your snail,
Though,
Is oozing out a concoction with the exact healing minerals that it needs to rebuild its shell.
Whoa,
Said Emilyna,
Looking closely at Rosianna's snail and her amazing shell.
What she does need is water,
Nutrition,
And a safe place to rest,
Just like our bodies.
Except for your snail,
That means dirt that's moist and some tree branches and some yummy lettuce leaves.
Just then Rosianna peeked out her wet head onto Emilyna's hand.
There you are,
Said Emilyna,
Excitedly.
Just like I wished.
Wait till we get home.
I'm going to build you the perfect snail apractic recovery room.
Thank you,
Dr.
Sara.
Thank you,
Dr.
Sara.
Be well,
Emilyna.
Be well,
Little Jack.
And be well,
Little snail.
