Hi.
If you pressed play on this tonight,
There's a good chance your system has reached a point where it just feels overloaded.
Not simply stressed,
More like your brain feels noisy,
Like there's almost a buzzing in your head.
Your thoughts keep looping,
Your breathing is shallow without you even noticing it.
And maybe you feel restless and exhausted at the same time.
Too tired to think clearly,
But too activated to properly rest.
Sometimes this state can feel strangely frightening,
Like you're close to losing your grip emotionally.
Not because something is wrong with you,
But because your system has been carrying too much for too long,
Without enough recovery.
You might notice that even tiny decisions suddenly feel overwhelming.
Answering messages,
Planning the week,
Choosing what to eat,
Trying to figure out what the right thing to do is.
Everything starts feeling mentally heavy.
And underneath all of that,
There's often sadness too.
A flatness,
A heaviness.
Maybe things you normally look forward to don't even feel appealing right now.
Not because you don't care,
But because your nervous system is tired.
So before we go any further,
Just notice this.
You are here,
Breathing.
Even if the breaths are small right now.
Even if your chest feels tight.
Even if your thoughts are moving fast.
If it feels comforting,
You might place a hand on your chest.
Or wrap your arms gently around yourself for a moment.
Not to force yourself to feel better,
But because sometimes the body needs some rest.
A little more support when everything feels like too much.
Notice the warmth of your hands.
The pressure.
The physical reminder that you are here.
And that your body is allowed to relax slightly,
Instead of bracing against everything.
All at once.
Let your shoulders drop a fraction.
And instead of trying to calm down,
See if you can simply become a little less clenched around everything.
A little less internally tightened.
And your body may have been running on adrenaline for days or weeks.
Trying to hold everything together.
Trying to stay functional.
Trying to keep thinking.
Planning.
Solving.
Managing.
And eventually the system starts signalling,
I can't keep doing this pace.
Take a slower breath in.
And exhale gently through the mouth.
You do not need clarity tonight.
You do not need to figure out your entire future before bed.
Right now we're only trying to give your system one small moment of reduced pressure.
One small interruption in your life.
In the spiral.
And maybe for the next few minutes you let yourself stop scanning ahead.
Stop rehearsing conversations.
Stop trying to mentally organise your whole life.
Just for now.
Feel the surface beneath you again.
Let your body be supported.
Let this moment be smaller than everything your mind has been trying to carry.
And as we come to the end of this practice,
Notice if there is even a tiny bit more space in your body than there was a few minutes ago.
Not fixed or transformed.
Just slightly less overwhelmed.
And sometimes that's enough for tonight.
Take gentle care of yourself.
