Welcome,
Beautiful soul.
You know,
There are forests that grow upon maps.
And there are forests that grow within the soul.
And the whispering stone forest belongs to the second kind.
It cannot be found by searching the world outside.
It appears only when the heart becomes quiet enough to remember that wisdom has always lived beneath the noise.
Rest your runestone-filled spar in your hands.
Feel it's white.
Notice the natural markings upon its surface.
As though the stone has been patiently writing the story for centuries.
Now,
Imagine the deep,
Earthy aroma of oak moss surrounding you.
That's the scent of ancient trees,
Cool stone after rain,
Damp earth,
Weathered bark.
And forgotten sanctuaries hidden beneath green canopies.
And take a slow breath in.
And another.
And with every inhale,
The forest grows closer.
And with every exhale,
The ordinary world softens around its edges.
A narrow path appears before you,
Winding through towering oak trees,
Whose branches arc overhead like the roof of an ancient cathedral.
And moss hangs from their limbs in soft green curtains,
And the forest floor is covered with velvet moss,
Fallen leaves,
And weathered stones that seem to glow with a silver light.
The air is cold.
Still?
And alive.
And you begin walking.
Your footsteps make almost no sound.
It feels as though the forest has been expecting you for a very long time.
And as you move deeper between the ancient oaks,
You notice that the trees are unlike any you have seen before.
Their trunks are enormous.
Their bark is deeply textured.
And every surface is covered with delicate patterns of lichen and moss.
And the scent of oak moss becomes richer here,
Surrounding you like a living presence.
It's not merely a fragrance.
It's the breath of the forest itself.
And ahead,
Between the trees,
You begin to see them.
Standing stones.
Tall.
Ancient.
Weathered by countless centuries.
And each stone bears mysterious markings,
Carved deep into its surface.
Symbols that resemble runes,
Flowing lines,
Circles,
Spirals and patterns that seem strangely familiar.
It's as though your soul recognizes them.
Even if your mind doesn't.
And you step now into a wide clearing.
And dozens of standing stones rise from the earth in a great circle.
Each one different.
Each one carrying its own glorious presence.
And in the centre of the circle stands a single oak tree.
Unlike any other.
Its trunk is broad enough that several people could not encircle it.
Its roots rise above the earth like ancient rivers frozen in wood.
Its branches disappear into a canopy so vast that it seems to hold a piece of the night sky within its leaves.
And at the base of the tree,
Waits a figure.
Clothed in robes the colour of moss,
Bark and stone.
The hair is silver.
Their eyes are kind.
And they are known here as the Keeper of the Living Ruins.
They do not ask your name.
They already know it.
And they place one hand over their heart and bow.
And then they gesture for you to sit beside the great oak.
And you settle against the ancient roots and the keeper sits beside you in silence.
And for a long moment,
Nothing happens.
The wind moves like whispers through the leaves.
A distant bird calls once.
Somewhere nearby,
Water trickles over stone.
Silence is not empty.
It is full.
And the keeper speaks softly.
The forest does not reveal its wisdom to those who hurry.
And you breathe.
Every stone remembers.
And you breathe again.
Every tree listens.
And the keeper reaches down and touches the earth.
And the moss beneath their hand begins to glow with a beautiful emerald light.
And the light spreads through the clearing until every standing stone shimmers from within.
Carvings begin to awaken.
One by one the symbols glow with golden light.
They do not become brighter in order to impress you.
They become clearer because you have become still enough.
To see them.
And the keeper turns to you.
And he says Choose a stone.
You stand and slowly walk through the circle.
Each stone feels different.
One carries warmth.
Another feels like deep water.
And that other feels like laughter long forgotten.
And then you see it.
Stone whose markings resemble the natural patterns within your runestone field spa.
You place your hand upon it.
And the stone is warm,
Alive.
And the moment your hand touches its surface.
The forest disappears.
Not because you have left it,
But because you have entered it more deeply.
You are suddenly standing within the memory held inside the stone and you see countless moments from your own life unfolding around you.
Not in chronological order.
But in the way memory truly lives.
A childhood morning filled with sunlight.
A conversation that changed everything.
A season of grief.
A moment of unexpected courage.
An act of kindness you had almost forgotten.
A dream you once abandoned.
A path you chose and a path you did not.
The scenes do not judge you,
They simply exist.
And the Keeper's voice reaches you.
You have been looking for answers.
And the memories continue flowing.
But life has been giving you symbols.
And you begin to notice patterns,
Certain places repeating,
Certain people returning.
Certain lessons appearing again and again in different forms.
The stone is not predicting your future.
It is revealing the language your soul has been speaking all along.
The forest slowly returns.
And you find yourself once again standing before the ancient stone,
Your hand still resting upon its weathered surface.
Tears may be present.
Or perhaps only a deep sense of recognition.
The Keeper smiles again.
The runes.
Or never outside you.
And they lead you back to the Great Oak.
And beneath its roots lies a shallow pool of perfectly still water.
And the keeper invites you to kneel.
And as you look into the water,
You expect to see your reflection.
Instead,
You see yourself many years from now.
Not older in a fearful way.
Wiser.
Softer.
More grounded.
And the future self looking back at you is peaceful.
They're not carrying certainty.
They are carrying trust.
And the keeper places the small object into your hands.
It's a tiny,
Moss-covered stone.
Shaped almost exactly like your runestone field spa.
This is the stone of listening,
They whisper.
And whenever you forget your path.
Do not search harder.
Listen more deeply.
The stone dissolves into warm golden light that settles within your heart.
The standing stones begin to glow once more.
The oak tree breathes with wind.
The entire forest seems to pulse with life.
When the keeper stands.
The other guardians of the forest emerge in silence from among the trees and they form a wide circle around you.
Together they offer their blessing.
May you hear the wisdom hidden within ordinary moments.
May you trust the symbols that continue to return.
May your roots grow deep enough that your spirit can grow freely.
May silence become a place of friendship rather than fear.
And may you always remember that the ancient forest lives within you.
And the clearing begins to soften.
The stones become light.
The trees become fragrance.
The fragrance becomes breath.
And slowly you become aware once more of your body.
Resting peacefully where you began.
Feel the surface beneath you.
Notice the rhythm of your breathing.
Sense the rune stone fields far in your hands or resting nearby.
And imagine the deep forest aroma of oak moss still surrounding you.
And you take one final,
Slow,
Grateful breath.
And as you exhale,
Know this.
The whispering stone forest has not disappeared.
It waits within every moment of stillness.
And whenever you choose to listen.
The stones will speak again.
Namaste.
