Welcome dear heart.
I am so happy you've joined me today.
And before we begin our journey,
Let's make ourselves comfortable.
Wrap yourself in a cozy blanket if you have one and settle into your favorite chair and bring your warm cup of tea into your hands.
Take a moment to simply hold it,
Feeling its warmth against your palms and notice its comforting weight.
Watch the ribbons of steam rising into the air.
There is something wonderfully reassuring about a cup of tea.
It asks nothing of us.
It simply invites us to slow down.
So take a long,
Gentle breath in.
And slowly breathe out.
And again,
Breathing in warmth.
And breathing out the busyness of the day.
One more slow breath,
Just allowing yourself to arrive completely.
Now,
When you're ready,
Take your first mindful sip.
And as the warmth of your tea settles within you,
Imagine that every sip you step a little further away from the noise of the world and a little closer to yourself.
Today our tea is taking us somewhere very special.
A place that appears only on winter mornings.
A place where snow falls softly,
Lanterns glow warmly,
And the kettle is always singing.
As a place known as the Snow Lantern Tea House.
And as you breathe,
Just imagine a narrow path appearing before you.
Fresh snow has settled over everything during the night.
The world is peaceful.
Still.
Every sound seems softened by winter's beautiful embrace.
And you begin to walk.
There's no hurry.
Your warm cup remains safely in your hands and its gentle warmth following you with every step.
And tall cedars surround the path.
The branches are dusted with snow,
Bowing gracefully beneath its weight.
And now and then,
A tiny flurry drifts from the branches above,
Sparkling for just a moment before settling upon the earth.
Just pause here for a moment and listen.
Can you hear how quiet winter is?
Not empty,
Just wonderfully peaceful.
Take another slow sip of your tea.
And as you continue along the snowy path,
A soft golden light appears between the trees.
In another.
And another.
They're stone lanterns lining the way ahead,
Each one glowing gently against the white snow.
They're not bright.
They don't chase away the darkness.
They simply offer enough light for the next steps.
And you smile.
Perhaps that is all we ever need.
Not to see the whole journey,
Just enough light for the step we are taking today.
And the path curves and nestles amongst the cedars.
And then you see a little wooden tea house.
Smoke curls lazily from its chimney.
Warm light shines through paper windows.
Somehow,
Before you even step inside,
You feel as though you've come home.
And you slide open the wooden door and a wave of comforting warmth greets you.
Crackle of the fire,
The bubbling of a cast iron kettle.
The familiar fragrance of cedarwood and freshly brewed tea.
And everything here just feels simple.
Everything here feels peaceful.
And an elderly teakeeper looks up from the hearth and smiles.
And it's not the smile of someone meeting you for the first time.
It's the smile of someone who has been expecting you.
They bow gently.
And you return the bow.
And without speaking,
They invite you to sit beside the fire.
And you settle into a soft cushion.
And the warmth slowly reaches your hands,
Your shoulders,
Your heart.
And the teakeeper quietly refills your cup.
And steam rises once more,
Dancing in that warm air.
And before you drink,
Simply watch the steam for a few moments and see how it rises and twists and softens,
Then disappears.
Nothing forced,
Nothing hurried.
Simply becoming part of the air around it.
And take another sip of your tea now.
And outside,
Snow continues to fall.
But inside,
Everything is still.
And after a comfortable silence,
The teakeeper speaks.
Their voices soft like the fire itself.
People often think winter is the season when nothing grows.
And they smile.
But beneath the snow,
The roots are resting,
Gathering strength for spring.
And the room becomes quiet once more.
And you look into your cup.
Perhaps there have been seasons in your own life that felt quiet.
Seasons when you wondered if anything was changing.
And yet,
Just like the roots beneath the snow,
So much can be happening where we cannot see it.
Healing.
Growing.
Preparing.
There's no need to rush.
Nature never does.
And the teakeeper lifts their own cup and they smile again.
Winter is not asking you to bloom.
And they pause.
It is asking you to trust your roots.
And those simple words settle into your heart.
No explanation is needed.
You simply let them rest there.
And you take another mindful sip of your tea.
Feel its warmth.
Notice how its flavor has softened since your first sip.
Perhaps the tea is being quietly unfolding just as you have.
The fire crackles softly beside you,
And outside a tiny robin lands upon a snow-covered stone lantern.
It sings one clear,
Cheerful note before fluttering away into the cedar trees.
Even in winter,
Joy still finds its voice.
And you smile.
And for a little while longer you just simply sit,
No conversation,
No questions,
Only the warmth of the fire,
The comfort of your tea,
The peaceful company of the tea keeper,
And the snowfall beyond the paper windows.
And you realise something beautiful.
Peace isn't something we have to search for.
Sometimes it has been waiting for us to slow down enough to notice it.
And when it's time to leave,
The teakeeper walks with you to the door.
They bow once more and they offer you one final gift.
Not something to hold in your hands,
But something to carry in your heart.
And they say to you,
Whenever life feels cold,
Become the lantern.
And that's not by shining brightly for everyone else,
Simply by protecting the gentle warmth within yourself.
And you bow with gratitude and then step once more onto the snowy path.
The lanterns glow softly as you make your way back through the cedar forest.
And one by one,
They fade into the winter mist.
The snow becomes softer.
The trees begin to dissolve.
The crisp winter air slowly becomes the familiar comfort of the room around you.
Notice your own cup resting gently in your hands.
Feel its warmth.
Perhaps there's one final sip waiting for you,
And if there is,
Receive it with gratitude.
And as you finish your tea,
Take a slow,
Easy breath.
Notice the chair supporting you,
The sounds around you.
The peaceful rhythm of your own breathing.
And perhaps somewhere deep inside.
You realize the snow lantern tea house was never far away.
It lives in every quiet moment you choose to create.
Every time the kettle begins its beautiful song.
Every time you pause.
Every time you cradle a warm cup of tea.
The path will appear once more.
And the lanterns will be waiting to guide you home until we meet again.
May your cup be full.
May your heart be gentle.
May you trust the quiet seasons of your life.
One breath.
One sip.
One beautiful moment at a time.
So it is.
