This is a meditation to help you get to sleep.
Start by settling into your bed,
Making subtle adjustments to find yourself as comfortable as you can possibly be.
Good.
Now we're going to move through the body,
Relaxing and releasing into the bed.
Starting at the top of your head,
Inviting a warm energy of relaxation to move through the head and over the face,
Allowing your head to release into the pillow.
Feel your head and neck release and soften your jaw.
Feel your shoulders releasing into the bed.
Relax your arms and your hands,
Feeling them become heavy.
Letting gravity draw the arms and the hands down,
Down,
Down into the bed.
Now inviting that relaxation into your chest,
Relaxing down through the torso,
Feeling the back releasing into the bed.
Warm waves of relaxation moving through the torso as the hips release into the bed.
Feeling your body become heavier and heavier in such a pleasant way,
Softening,
Releasing into the bed.
Feeling the legs become heavy and relaxed.
Again,
Allowing gravity to do its work as the legs drop down,
Down,
Down into the bed,
The feet releasing and relaxing.
As you feel this relaxation moving through your body,
Tension melting away,
The body releasing into the bed.
Also feel any worries,
Anxieties,
Anything left over from your day melting away.
There's nothing else you need to do today.
It's okay to let it all melt away.
You don't need to figure anything out or accomplish anything.
Now is the time for rest.
You deserve to rest.
I'd like you to say to yourself,
I deserve to rest.
I deserve to rest.
What does rest feel like in your body?
Start to bring your attention to the places in the body that feel most restful.
It's okay if thoughts arise,
Just keep softening into the rest,
Allowing any thoughts to simply melt away as soon as they arise.
You deserve to rest.
As your body rests,
Start to imagine a beautiful place,
Perhaps a place you've visited while traveling,
Or maybe a place you've looked at pictures of.
Maybe it's even an imaginary place,
Somewhere beautiful and safe.
Resting and relaxing the body as you gaze in to this visual experience,
Allowing the beauty of this place to unfold,
Feeling safe,
Relaxed,
Continuing to watch these images of this safe and beautiful place.
Perhaps you can smell the air in this beautiful place.
Maybe you can feel the brush of the breeze against your skin,
Letting go,
Relaxing in to rest and safety and beauty.
It's okay to rest.
It's okay to sleep.
With every exhale,
Surrender to sleep a bit more.
The soft,
Safe,
Warm embrace of sleep.
Every exhale,
You are enveloped more and more by this safe,
Warm sleep.
Knowing that it is okay to let go into sleep.
Each exhale,
Guiding you deeper into this place of profound rest,
Held with love,
Easing in to a warm,
Safe,
Beautiful,
Restful sleep.
