Hello and welcome to the practice of yoga nidra.

For this yoga nidra,

We are going to be tuning in to a felt sense of the wild woman archetype that lives within each of us.

Wherever you find yourself in this moment,

I'd like you to find a comfortable place to lie down on your back.

Create a space that is loving and allows the experience of deep rest.

Feel into the places where your body is in contact with the supporting surface below you.

The earth,

The bed,

The couch.

Feel the places where your body is in contact with this supporting surface and begin to open to receive the support.

Feel as if you are held and supported exactly as you are in this moment,

Allowing your muscles,

Your bones,

Your body to sink in to this support.

And then bring your attention to your breath.

Breathing in,

I am aware of my in-breath.

Breathing out,

I am aware of my out-breath.

In-breath,

Out-breath.

Yoga nidra,

Also known as yogic sleep,

Is a guided meditation that lulls you into a state of deep relaxation.

Yoga nidra allows you to connect with the deep healing wisdom that is the body.

Author Clarissa Pinkola Estes of Women Who Run With Wolves writes,

No matter by which culture a woman is influenced,

She understands the words wild and woman intuitively.

When a woman hears those words,

An old,

Old memory is stirred and brought back to life.

The memory is of our absolute,

Undeniable,

And irrevocable kinship to the wild feminine.

There is a wild woman within each of us that is longing to be remembered and expressed.

Women's bodies learn through resonance.

To connect with her is to invoke those parts in us naturally and to return to our deepest,

Instinctive knowing.

So let this yoga nidra push us on now and remember ourselves back to the wild.

Deep breath into your body.

Let it out through parted lips with ease.

And again,

Take a big breath in to your body.

And notice that as you exhale,

Your body becomes heavier as you settle into the earth.

Continue breathing slow,

Deep,

And controlled.

Allow your breath to guide you from the external world to the internal world.

Surrender your thinking mind down into your feeling body.

Release any control of your breath now.

For the remainder of this practice,

Let yourself be breathed.

Let your awareness rest in your belly where the wild woman resides.

Bring your awareness into your center and recall the last time you tapped into your wildish nature.

I'm going to guide you now through a body scan.

By reconnecting with your feeling body,

You will begin to allow this innate wisdom to inform you.

Your only goal is to be in your body,

Alive,

Awake.

We will begin with your right hand.

Give your full attention to your right thumb.

Now move this awareness through your index finger,

Middle finger,

Ring finger,

Pinky finger,

Palm of your hand,

The back of your hand,

Wrist,

Forearm,

Elbow,

Upper arm,

And shoulder.

Feel the right side of your ribs,

Waistline,

And hip.

Feel your right thigh,

Knee,

Lower leg,

Right ankle,

Heel,

Sole of your right foot,

Top of your right foot,

And all five toes.

Now focus your awareness into the whole right side of your body.

Now move your awareness to your left hand.

Give all your attention to your left thumb.

Move this awareness to your left index finger,

Middle finger,

Ring finger,

Pinky finger,

Palm of your left hand,

Back of your hand,

Wrist,

Forearm,

Elbow,

Upper arm,

And shoulder.

Feel the left side of your ribs,

Waistline,

And hip.

Feel your left thigh,

Knee,

Lower leg,

Ankle,

Heel,

Sole of your left foot,

Top of your left foot,

And all five.

Now flood your attention into the entire left side of your body.

All your awareness into the whole left side.

Now as you feel your left side,

Feel your right side so that now you feel both the left and right sides together.

Now feel your throat,

Your face,

Top of your head,

The back of your head,

So that now you feel everything from the top of your head down to your fingertips and toes.

Feel your whole entire body as one unit,

Expanding your awareness into your entire body.

And now notice how spacious your inner world truly is.

And in this spacious inner world,

We listen for her with soul hearing now.

Begin to imagine,

See,

Visualize yourself walking through a field of wildflowers surrounded by mountains and rivers.

This can be a field in the mountains that you are familiar with or one of your own creation.

And now you find yourself walking barefoot through this field in the sunshine and you feel the warmth of the sun and the deep connection of your feet to the earth,

The home to all the wild woman ancestors who have lived before you.

You watch the trees and hear the sounds of birds singing and you know deep down that you are going towards a very special place,

The place where you can most embody the wild woman within.

You let your intuition guide you there.

You let your heart open and belly awaken.

And you slowly walk around,

Enchanted by this incredible space.

You see myriads of flowers,

You smell their scent,

And you feel the gentle breeze of the wind across your cheek.

And you watch how the water flows through the river.

It's as if you are one with the earth and all the beauty around you,

A sense of aliveness,

Rootedness,

And strength.

As you walk,

You feel the presence of the wild woman.

Her essence is calling you.

Something is pulling you closer and closer toward her.

You now look around and begin to look for your power spot,

The very special place where it will most,

Very special place where it will be most comfortable for you to sit.

And as you continue to look,

You try a different spot.

Maybe it's the foot of a tree,

The top of a rock,

Or sitting along the river.

Yes,

Now you've found it and you sit in your power on this spot.

And as you sit there,

You feel her energy rising up from the earth through your feet.

Her energy pulsates through your legs,

Your knees and thighs,

Into your pelvic floor and hips,

All the way up through the chest,

The head,

And arms.

Feel her aliveness and power in your belly,

The awakening and opening of your heart,

And the strengthening and lengthening of your spine.

Feel the sound of her untamed wild voice in your throat,

Strong,

Unbridled,

Deeply intuitive and wise.

You know you are connecting to her,

To the wild woman within.

You've sensed her presence.

You know this is her,

The wild woman,

This part of yourself that is your deepest and truest nature,

That part of yourself which is infinitely creative and intuitive,

Your inner wild woman.

Feel her energy expanding to encompass you.

Feel yourself lifted beyond your boundaries,

Beyond the boundaries of your body,

Taken by her,

By the wild woman.

In our bones we know her,

We yearn toward her,

We know she belongs to us and we to her.

Imagine her living inside of you,

This woman who lives at the edge of the world,

This woman who is you.

The beauty of your journey is awakening this wild woman within yourself and you realize that it is just a matter of remembering and your breath comes alive again and you recognize that it's this breath that connects you to her.

And so you intentionally begin to animate your body with this breath as the practice of yoga nidra is now complete.

Turn your heart towards the earth and take a moment to give thanks.

The archetype of the wild woman beckons us to come back to nature,

Our nature.

Keep your eyes closed and make your way to a comfortable seat.

Does not mean careless,

Frivolous,

Crazy or witch-like,

Quite the opposite.

Her wild nature means to live without abandon,

Free from societal boxes,

Rules that feel sterile and stiff.

To be wild is a title that is hard earned by following the unknown,

Overcoming roadblocks of fear,

Doubt,

Uncertainty and trusting in inner knowing,

An intrinsic intuitive compass that is the body of a woman.

To be wild is to be whole and complete despite the world trying to tame her.

She is wild and that is her superpower.

To tame her is to imprison her,

To take her away from her natural habitat that is her body.

Her name was born from stories of her heroic journey back to herself.

Everything you need to feel her lives within.

Our work is simply to create this space to awaken her.

Bring your hands over your heart center,

Bow your head slightly down to the wild woman howling,

Laughing,

Singing within.

From one wild woman to another.

I hope you have a beautiful rest of your day.
