Our breath is one of the most powerful anchors we have. It's always present, always here to remind us—with its soothing ocean-wave-like movement and sounds—of our natural pace, our intimate connections to nature, our inner flow and calm. In this short, 5-minute meditation, we'll attune to the sensations, pace and sounds of the breath, watching the waves softly sweep in and out, like ocean waves gently ebbing and flowing at the shore. Hi,

I'm Jenny Mayo.

Welcome to this short five-minute watching the waves of breath meditation.

To begin,

Let's find a comfortable position for our body,

Seated or lying down,

And close the eyes if you like.

We'll take a moment,

Just let our bodies land on the earth.

Using the next few breaths to soften your body into that support.

To help us release a little bit of the day,

Whatever has accumulated,

You might join me in two clearing breaths.

Let's exhale to prepare.

Long slow inhale through the nose.

Audible sigh to release.

And again,

In through the nose.

What can you let go of or perhaps soften on your exhale?

Let's just gently return to our natural breath.

Beginning to tune into the sensations,

Watching the natural pace,

And becoming aware of the soft ocean wave-like sound of our inhale and exhale.

See how present you can be to this breath right here.

And if it's helpful to you,

You might even call to mind a beautiful expanse of ocean or even lake.

Picture yourself on the shore,

Maybe toes rooting into the sand.

And you might just begin to watch those waves of your breath rolling in across the water and gently sweeping away.

We'll stay here for about another minute,

Just watching,

Feeling,

Listening to those waves,

Letting the body soften as each wave sweeps slowly back out.

Let's start to deepen the breath,

Drawing it into the belly all the way down to your toes and gently release.

As you're ready,

Welcoming some small movements back into the body,

Remembering that these waves of breath are here for you to soothe you,

To remind you of your natural pace,

Your natural flow,

Anytime you need them.

Opening the eyes as you're ready,

Thank you so much for meditating with me.
