Hello,
And welcome to Meditation 4 in 5 Steps for Taking Action with Compassion.
Today we are going to explore how to release limiting beliefs that are holding us back from achieving our dreams and goals.
We are going to practice offering space to parts of ourselves that might be scared and blocking us from taking the next step in fulfilling our dreams.
In this meditation,
You may enjoy having a small pad of paper and a pencil nearby to write down any insights as they arise.
Let's get started.
Begin by taking five deep breaths.
Breathe intentionally and slowly,
Seeing if you can make your exhalation a little longer than your inhalation.
Now,
Bring to mind a goal or intention you would like to make happen.
Now ask yourself,
What is stopping me from achieving this goal?
Just listen for what arises.
There has to be something,
Because if it wasn't,
You would already have it.
Maybe it's,
I keep failing,
Or it's too hard,
Or I'm not good enough,
Or my family would never approve.
If nothing comes up,
Just take a breath and ask yourself the question again,
What is stopping me from achieving this goal?
And then just listen.
Once you have a clear answer of something that is standing in your way,
Approach this thought with a deep breath,
Imagining that with this breath,
You are allowing the thought,
The space,
To just be in your mind.
Approach this thought or belief with the gentleness you would try to have if you were approaching a shy,
Scared,
Or hurt animal.
Now,
Allow the thought,
The space,
To tell you anything it would like you to know.
Maybe it's really scared.
Perhaps it's afraid you will get hurt and it's trying to protect you.
Maybe it just wants to be seen and acknowledged.
Whatever comes up,
Continue to try and be gentle with it,
Just as you would with a shy,
Scared,
Or hurt animal.
If the thought does not tell you anything more,
Just keep breathing and allow the space to just exist as it is in your mind.
Now,
If you can,
Move to a place of gratitude for this thought.
Our thoughts and beliefs are always trying to serve us,
Even if they're not very effective or harmful.
We created them to serve a purpose in our lives and they've been doing their best to protect and care for us,
Even in a misguided way.
So,
In your mind,
Say,
Thank you.
Thank you for doing your best to serve me in the past.
Thank you for showing up today and revealing yourself to me.
Please know that even if I change,
I am grateful for the job you've been trying to do.
Notice how this thought reacts with the energy of gratitude.
It may relax,
It may disappear,
Or it may increase.
Just notice how it reacts and breathe,
Giving it space to be the way it wants to be.
Breathe.
Now take a moment to say goodbye to the thought and release it from your immediate awareness.
Take three deep breaths and slowly,
In your own time,
Return to the space around you.
How are you feeling?
Just check in with yourself and ground yourself in your senses.
My hope is that you have a little more clarity and compassion to see what might be holding you back and a way to bring more gentleness to the process of change.
Most of the time we run on autopilot,
Automatically reacting to and operating from beliefs that are largely unconscious.
By creating a safe space for your thoughts and beliefs to be seen,
It will be easier to transform them into more empowering ones that assist you on your journey rather than keeping you locked in the past.
I'm really looking forward to seeing you on the last meditation,
Which is all about taking heart-centered inspired action.
