In this short meditation, we give thanks for our ambitions, the gentle drive to be better in and for the world. Bathing our ambitions in the light of awareness, we see our the opportunity to improve, to overcome challenges with gratitude, seeing them as part of a larger movement toward wholeness and fulfillment. Spend a few moments here with this gentle music and peaceful message. “Peaceful Piano” by Clavier-Music; “Poppy” by Albrecht Fietz; both from Pixabay

On this morning,

As we wake into a new day,

As we stretch into wakefulness and peer about ourselves,

Let us look ahead to the day that lies before us and with awareness allow gratitude to bathe our ambitions.

So often,

Perhaps,

We might think of ambition as something potentially harmful,

A bit aggressive.

But more than intention,

Ambition suggests an energy,

A forward-looking drive.

Each of us,

In our own way,

Is driven to more.

Overcoming a challenge brings one form of happiness.

Perhaps that challenge is an unquiet mind.

Perhaps that challenge is an unsatisfactory job.

Perhaps that challenge is a medical condition.

We,

Who are among the fortunate,

May give thanks for what we aspire to,

Greater equanimity,

More meaningful work,

A creative solution to physical ailment.

We have this great gift of time,

A full day ahead of us,

To move us one step forward in our ambition.

And in taking that step,

We may find contentment.

A life worth living is made up of such small steps.

Let us breathe a moment and consider the day,

The challenges and opportunities small and large.

Consider the actions we might take today in service of our ambition to be the best we can be.

Let us breathe in gratitude for this opportunity for 30 seconds.

On this morning,

As we awaken to a new day,

As we stretch into wakefulness and peer about ourselves,

Let us look ahead to the day that lies before us and with awareness allow gratitude to bathe our ambitions.
