Hello beautiful souls,

This is JB and welcome to a beautiful night's sleep.

Thanks for being here for another in the series sleep stories with Junbi.

Join me as I have to nip out and run an errand and it starts to rain.

So let's get into your favorite sleeping position,

Make sure you're comfortable,

Close your eyes and slowly imagine yourself melting into the bed.

Now let's go to your breathing,

Slowing down the heart rate and let's take some nourishing breaths together.

Breathe in,

Breathe out.

Breathe in,

Breathe out.

Breathe in,

Breathe out.

Last time breathe in,

Breathe out.

So thanks for joining me on my little trip out to run an errand.

Oh here comes the rain!

Let's jump into the car and get going.

So my question for you today is,

Do you like driving in the rain?

Well I have mixed feelings about it.

I think it can be a lot of fun if you don't go crazy about your speed.

And also if you don't have uncaring drivers around you.

I've had some great memories of driving in the rain.

My third child would just not sleep until he got lulled to sleep by the purr of the car engine and the gentle rocking of the car while on the road or waiting at traffic lights.

That meant I had to do a lot of trips just to get him to sleep.

What it did do was show me a whole new world that I didn't know existed after 11pm.

I was either out having fun at that time or somewhere wrapped up at home enjoying some of my favourite music and a glass of wine.

On occasion delving into a good book or playing a marathon board game with some unsuspecting participant.

I must admit I'm very good at board games and do take great pleasure in having a good time.

So here we are,

Kids are grown now and so those late night trips are a distant memory.

Tonight though I have a few friends coming over,

I've left my brother setting things up at home as I need to nip out for some more ice.

Can't have a nice gathering without enough ice right?

So here I am out in the rain making my way to the best store to get what I want.

It does mean I have to go on a short trip on the motorway and then take the first exit to the store that I need to go to.

I will listen to the cars passing and the sound of the windscreen wipers.

It's even making me feel sleepy.

The sound of the cars and then the rain outside,

Cars flying past and now the windscreen wipers.

Oh boy I can see what a great pleasure it was for my son to snuggle down in the car seat and just be lulled into a sense of oblivion.

What I never get dull is why people drive so fast when the rain is falling so hard and you can't even see far.

Maybe it's one of the many unclaimed wonders of the world.

So here we are.

The sound is hypnotic to be honest.

This is not time for me to get sleepy though.

It's time for me to get to the store and back home to welcome my guests.

It's been a while since I've seen some of my friends.

We live quite far from some of them and with differing things going on in everyone's lives,

Making time to meet up gets more and more like planning a precision military operation.

Sally is free on Saturday afternoon but has to go out by 8.

Chanel is at work all day and only free after 8.

Paul can't get any time off at all.

Now he's seeing if he can swap a shift with a colleague.

Megan is not sure if she can get here because she's had a hairdresser appointment that she's been waiting on for months and has just had word it is today.

Not sure what time she'll be finished.

And the scheduling like the beat goes on.

Well what do we have here?

Oh my,

Looks like there may have been an accident on the lane just before the turn off.

I'm sure that is someone not realising the turning was there and veering off the road at the last minute to catch it.

And voila!

We've all seen them.

Cars driving straight then at the last second they dash to the left before they miss the exit.

It is so dangerous.

Now usually this would be interesting.

Even exhilarating.

Once in a while one's hurt of course.

With all this rain though,

It's dark and people are going so fast as if conditions are perfect.

Well I can't say I'm surprised.

All the horns blowing and the angry faces.

They aren't going to make any difference to the speed of getting out of this heavy traffic.

So I'll just relax and wait until I can get off at my exit.

Watching the windscreen wipers go from right to left.

Right to left.

Ah,

So I've gone past that block and I'll be at the store in 5 minutes.

Then time to head back home to welcome all of my friends.

For sure I won't be coming back this way.

Lesson learned.

The other way back is twice as long although there is always a way to take a turn off if the traffic slows.

So after I head to the store,

Time to get back.

Back home to welcome all of my friends.

And I can tell them about my exciting adventures driving in the rain.

Thanks for coming on the drive with me.

I'm getting a little sleepy now and I'm sure you are too.

So as you slowly drift away,

Have yourself a great night's sleep.

And I'll see you next time for another in the series,

Sleep Stories with JoonB.

Bye now.
