Hello beautiful souls,
This is June Bee,
And welcome to a beautiful night's sleep.
Thanks for being here for another in the series of bedtime tales with June Bee.
Join me as I go on a long overdue camping trip and all the things we will discover on our journey to sleep.
So let's get into your favourite sleeping position.
Make sure you're comfortable,
Close your eyes,
Relax your muscles,
And slowly imagine yourself melting into the bed.
Now let's go to your breathing,
Slowing down your heart rate,
And let's take some nourishing breaths together.
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Last time,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Settle in now,
Get comfortable,
Let go of everything that has happened today,
And let's go on our journey together.
Today I am out with some friends and we are going camping.
Are you ready to come with me?
Okay,
Let's go.
So firstly,
What is a campfire?
A campfire is a contained fire that you light at your campsite that provides light,
Warmth,
And heat for cooking.
It can also serve as a beacon,
An insect and predator deterrent.
You make sure the fire does not spread by providing a stone fire ring for safety.
Campfires are a popular feature of camping for centuries and a joy to experience in the flesh.
I love going camping and have not been for many years.
The joy of being in the great outdoors,
Lighting a fire,
And hanging out with friends is really a treat.
There is nothing like waking up first thing in the morning and getting some food cooked by the naked flame.
There is no taste in my opinion,
And you know I'm a person that's all about good tasting food.
There is no taste like having some breakfast first thing in the morning cooked over a beautiful campfire.
All the things that me and my friends get up to while we camp is something that brings back fond memories of childhood camping trips.
On this trip we have a rough schedule.
Seeing as none of us have been camping for a while,
We're getting back into the swing of things.
Before we do anything,
There's a lake not too far from where we camped and we all go and take a quick dip.
Jumping into that cool lake first thing when you wake up is not only refreshing,
It also puts everything into perspective.
Now that we've all had a little dip,
Brushed our teeth,
And gotten our stuff ready,
It's time for us to go wandering.
We've already set up our campfire and the fire is established as we are now going for a hike,
As a few others of us stay behind to prepare our meal.
I love hiking and while my legs can still take the strain of all those rocky hills and miles of walking,
Well,
I'm still along for the ride.
I have seen some of the most beautiful scenes whilst hiking and the view from the top of most things,
Especially those jaw-dropping mountains,
Is breathtaking.
This is no exception as we are hiking in a place called the Lake District.
A little about the Lake District.
The Lake District is England's largest national park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
You can discover spectacular landscapes,
Picturesque villages,
And have a warm welcome from the locals that call this amazing masterpiece of rich and breathtaking mountains and fells their home.
Rich in cultural heritage,
You can enjoy exploring the lakes while taking wild adventures or simply enjoying the peace and tranquility that surrounds you there.
Breathe in and be inspired.
The Lake District is well known for its fantastic trails and mountains you can hike along such amazing places like Scarfell Pike,
The highest mountain in England which stands at 978 meters tall.
There are many hikes in the Lake District from the easy to the very difficult.
On this trip,
We are going for some easy hikes to enjoy the countryside and get our first steps in for a long while.
There are also a few hikes where some of the guys are going to take a dip because it's warm outside and we are making the most of the great British weather right now.
Some of the hikes show you little underground pools and crevices where you can wade up to your knees or you can jump off the edges and have a full and expansive swim.
Beautiful and picturesque,
No two sections are alike.
It's like a kinder surprise each time you go around a corner,
You see a brand new and beautiful expanse unfold before your very eyes.
My friends splash and splish about while I'm heading to the top of this small mountain to catch the view.
And oh man,
What a view it is!
Can you imagine it now?
Rolling hills of numerous shades of green,
Beautiful spotless blue sky,
And up,
Way up high,
Endless fluffy white clouds,
Looking like candy floss on a beautiful fair day.
The sight is so picturesque and something that you can imagine seeing on a postcard.
Can you imagine it with me now?
Take a moment to do that.
Now it's time to head back down and we are all working up quite an appetite.
So as we get close to the campsite,
We get hit by the amazing wafting smells that are coming towards us,
Tickling the inside of our nose and bringing us closer and closer to the fire again.
As we wash up for our tea in the nearby stream,
The sun is gently setting and we are all about to sit around the fire and tell silly stories to each other,
Just like we did in school.
The stories these guys come up with is so funny and such a pleasure to be amongst great friends.
Then it is my favourite time of the evening when we sing camp songs as one of my friends has a guitar and some of the others have long twigs with marshmallows stuck on the ends to lightly roast in the fire.
Oh that sweet smell and the warm glow of the fire makes for a picture perfect evening around the campfire.
Listen to that snap,
Crackle and pop.
I'm not sure about you.
I'm getting sleepy even thinking about it.
So I'm ready to let go fully and surrender to sleep.
Thanks for joining me tonight and as you slowly drift away,
Have yourself a great night's sleep.
Looking forward to seeing you again for another in the series of bedtime tales with June B.
Good night.
