Hello beautiful souls,

This is June B and welcome to an amazing night's sleep.

Thanks for being here for another in the series of Bedtime Tales with June B.

Today we will use a proven technique that helps with overthinking and anxiety called Leaves on a Stream.

Let's begin.

So get into your favourite sleeping position.

Make sure you're comfortable.

Close your eyes.

Relax your muscles and slowly imagine yourself melting into the bed.

Now let's go to your breathing,

Slowing down the heart rate and let's take some nourishing breaths together.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Last time breathe in.

Breathe out.

Settle in now.

Get comfortable.

Let go of everything that happened today and let's relax together.

Let yourself focus on my voice.

If your mind wanders,

It's okay.

Bring it back to the sound of my voice.

Keep your breathing slow and steady.

Let's go on our journey together.

Today we are going to use this simple and very effective technique called Leaves on a Stream.

It is simple and very relaxing so let's give it a go.

Imagine the scene now,

We are sitting in the long grass by a stream.

The tall wild flowers are so sweet.

And their smell of the light notes of this delectable fragrance tickles the hairs on the inside of your nose.

You smile as the sweet smell delights your senses now and makes you feel totally relaxed.

The grass is tall and soft under you.

You are on a blanket that is comforting and the tall grass acts like a sort of stringy and spongy mattress.

It takes all the pressure away from your joints and makes for a most comfortable seat.

As you look at the stream,

You notice the water rushing down.

No stopping,

Constantly moving.

It has a look of fun,

Like you could imagine being one of those drops of water and rushing down the stream with all your friends.

Racing to see who would reach the end first.

There is no end though as the water keeps moving and there is no visible end in sight.

On the other side of the bank of this pretty little stream is a big tree.

The tree has branches that overhang the stream.

These branches are filled with leaves that are now turning that amber and copper colour of autumn.

The colours are amazing and you can imagine what beauty they held when they were still green and full of life.

Right now though,

They are all the beautiful colours of autumn and you enjoy the different colour variations that are a delight to the onlooker.

Now the leaves have served their purpose in the spring and the summer.

Bringing life to this tree.

Collecting all the water and dew from the rain and atmosphere to nourish and care for this tree.

Being a rest for birds and insects alike that come to visit this majestic tree.

And lastly,

Cleaning the air like a natural air conditioner.

These leaves have served a great purpose and now are ready to let go of this tree branch.

As you watch,

You see one leaf let go and slowly float down to the stream.

As it floats down,

It softly lands on the water and is immediately swept away by the never stopping stream.

It's gone in an instant.

The water is moving really fast and as it jumps,

Dances and splashes along this little stream,

You can almost hear it go snap,

Crackle and pop.

Like the breakfast cereal of course.

The water has its own rhythm and dances away without a care in the world.

So now,

As you look,

There is a gentle breeze that floats by.

And as it does its thing,

Another leaf falls off the tree and slowly glides down onto the water,

Then is swept away to a place that is unseen and out of your vision.

As more leaves start to fall,

You notice that the leaves are all different shapes,

Colours and sizes,

Floating past you as you sit there.

Can you imagine the scene for a moment?

Let's go deeper now and check in on your feelings.

Start to notice your feelings.

No matter how hard you try,

You can't stop the feelings and thoughts from coming,

Can you?

So as you notice what comes up,

Think about placing that feeling or thought on a leaf that is on the stream and watch it float on by.

Whatever the thoughts are,

Positive or negative,

Place them on a leaf and watch them float and dance down the stream until they are gone.

Feelings such as happiness,

Sadness,

Frustration,

Anger,

Joy and bliss.

Thoughts of what do we do tomorrow,

How to face that issue,

Work issues,

Family dynamics,

New relationships and the list goes on.

Place all your feelings and thoughts on one leaf at a time and watch them float away.

Enjoy the feeling of the floating leaves on this very active stream and watch as they drift off into the distance.

This is your time to relax.

So watching all your thoughts and feelings drift away is a beautiful way to get into a totally relaxed state and ready for a refreshing night's sleep.

Continue now to see the beautiful leaves of all shapes and sizes,

All colors and hues of autumn and watch as the stream keeps on moving along while the leaves keep on drifting by.

Imagine the scene for a moment.

If a leaf gets stuck,

Concentrate and watch it until it starts moving again.

It will move.

The water makes everything move,

Even if it takes a little while.

There is no stopping on this stream.

Anything that comes up for you,

Place it on a leaf and watch it drift on by.

Keep watching the stream and listen to the sounds of the water floating down the stream.

The bubbling and softly popping sound of the water.

You can smell the fresh smell of water in your nose.

Without even taking a sip,

It makes you feel refreshed and alive in this very moment.

Notice once again the sweet smell of the wild flowers that you are sitting amongst.

Breathe it in,

Breathe it out.

Let the sweet smells all around you merge and give you that total feeling of peace and relaxation.

Pure bliss.

I'm not sure about you.

I'm getting sleepy even thinking about it.

So I'm ready to let go fully and surrender to sleep.
