Hello beautiful souls,
This is June Bee and welcome to an amazing night's sleep.
Thanks for being here for another in the series Bedtime Tales with June Bee.
Join me as I'm in the garden and all the things we will discover on our journey to sleep.
So let's get into your favourite sleeping position,
Make sure you're comfortable,
Close your eyes,
Relax your muscles and slowly imagine yourself melting into the bed.
Now let's go to your breathing,
Slowing down the heart rate and let's take some nourishing breaths together.
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Breathe out,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Breathe in,
Breathe out,
Last time breathe in,
Breathe out.
Breathe out,
Settle in now,
Get comfortable,
Let go of everything that happened today and let's relax together.
Let yourself focus on my voice,
If your mind wanders it's okay,
Bring it back to the sound of my voice.
Keep your breathing slow and steady,
Let's go on our journey together.
It's a beautiful summer afternoon and here I am in the garden and it is glorious.
The kids are busy playing in the cute summer blow-up paddling pool,
Laughing and splashing all over the place,
As kids do.
I think the kids could be in there for hours and this is the best way to allow them to burn off some energy and also keep fit.
I remember them being in the water for so long one day that they started to look like little prunes.
In the summer months I would wake up with a post-it note on my dressing table that stated,
Mum we're in the pool,
We'll be back in time for breakfast.
The funny thing about that is before I even opened my eyes I could hear them having a whale of a time splashing about and giggling to their hearts content while filling the air with pure joy that many wish they could achieve.
If I could bottle that feeling I think I would probably be a millionaire.
So I am really lucky that I have this little paradise of green space that I call my home.
It is my happy place and my sanctuary from all things outside the front door.
I have taken my time and landscaped it all myself.
It took me a while to get my garden the way I wanted it and now it is my personal vision of heaven.
First of all I will tell you what I have done in my garden and why I love it so much.
Firstly I have dug out a pond with a waterfall feature and I bought some fish,
Some koi fish to be precise.
They were small when I first got them and after the first winter and the pond froze over I figured hey that's it they are gone.
Then when it thawed out the next spring I realised that they had been chilling down at the bottom of the pond and they were fine.
Years on now and they are huge and splash about whenever they see me ready for their food,
In the form of koi pellets.
Next I have always loved functional trees and plants.
Flowers are pretty although I always love something that I can use myself.
So I decided firstly to get these minaret trees that only grow about 5 feet tall.
I have a few that are Granny Smith's apple,
Some that are regular English apple and a few English pear.
It took a year or two before I got any fruit,
Blossoms forming and then falling.
Now though each year I have enough apples to make apple pies and stewed apples.
I can give some away,
I can make apple jam and the list goes on.
Now I am an avid cook and there is nothing better than cooking with fresh herbs in my opinion.
So I have a few planters filled with many herbs as soon as the season begins.
I have thyme,
Basil,
Coriander,
Lemongrass and even some chives.
I also decided to buy a strawberry plant and a blueberry vine.
At first when I had my first year of strawberries I thought the strawberries were dead.
I left them in the planter,
Didn't think anything of them.
And then the next spring when I was about to clear everything out they started to pop up again and they lasted for a few years before I had to get a new strawberry plant.
Oh man,
If you tasted those strawberries they were amazing!
It reminds me of a gift that keeps on giving.
So despite all the other things that I have in my garden that I really love,
Lastly my all time favourite thing about my garden,
Well let's backtrack there,
Apart from my waterproof speakers,
Is the old fashioned Greek barbecue that I cook nearly every meal on in the warmer months.
I am an expert at barbecuing and I even do baked bananas in foil for dessert.
Oh man,
What a treat!
Believe me when I say I can't wait for winter to be over so I can get back to being outside and enjoying eating al fresco.
Well,
The kids are having a whale of a time and I feel so relaxed right now.
I don't want this feeling to end.
I'm not sure about you.
I'm getting sleepy even thinking about it.
So I'm ready to let go fully and surrender to sleep.
Thanks for joining me tonight and as you slowly drift away,
Have yourself a great night's sleep.
And looking forward to seeing you again for another in the series of Bedtime Tales with June B.
Good night!
