Sometimes it feels like the world is awaiting our decision, answer or choice. We are not allowed the space to just contemplate, think and explore. This meditation offers a moment to be in that unknown, where we can step back from the process and remind ourselves that whatever we decide on, stress is not the way there.

Hi,

And welcome to this meditation.

I thought we'd talk about uncertainty.

When we find ourselves in a fork in the road.

When we believe,

We're convinced,

That we have to choose one of several options.

Be it choosing between going or not going,

Doing or not doing,

Or even feeling and not feeling.

We're usually taught that whatever we do,

We have to make a decision.

For some reason,

We have to know.

And the sooner we know,

And make that decision,

The better.

Is that really true?

While uncertainty might feel scary,

To be in that place that is unknown,

It is also a space for progress.

Because what good is a decision or a choice,

If it's made just because it was too unbearable to be in that uncertainty?

When we decide on something just to get away from that fear of not actually knowing,

We're not really making informed choices,

Are we?

We start building our life not based on what we need or want,

But just out of fear of being indecisive.

As if that was the worst thing imaginable.

Let's take a little moment and explore that unknown,

Shall we?

To prepare for this meditation,

Get into a comfortable position,

Seated or lying down,

And let us take a few deep breaths together,

While letting your eyes close.

Feel the air streaming in and out of your lungs.

Feel yourself expanding and relaxing with every breath.

This is your anchor.

This is your focus for this meditation.

This is the only thing that needs your attention right now.

Feeling the air streaming in and out.

Everything else,

Anything that you think you might need to deal with right now,

Is outside of this moment.

The only thing that we know is true right now is your breath going deeper and deeper.

You don't owe anyone your answer.

You don't owe anyone your decision or choice.

You only owe yourself the space to just be.

To just be in this wonderful space of exploration,

Of finding out,

Of not rushing anything.

Just breathing in and out.

Letting go,

Feeling the body easing up,

Sinking deeper into your position.

It's okay not knowing.

It's okay not having a straight answer.

It's okay saying one thing and then saying another.

Remember that anchor to just keep your focus on your breath going in and out.

I'm going to let you sit alone for a few minutes,

Focusing on your breath and sinking deeper into this space.

And if you feel yourself slipping away,

Just keep returning to your breath.

Time and time again.

It's time to come back.

Take some time to feel the position that you're in.

Maybe move your neck a bit,

Wiggle your feet and hands.

Take one last deep breath and feel free to open your eyes.

Every time we feel in distress,

When it feels like the whole world is awaiting our decision,

We can give ourselves this space and know that we deserve it.

That we are allowed to just sit.

That we are allowed to not know for as long as it takes.

And every time we step back and give ourselves this space,

The easier it gets.

Thank you for meditating with me today.
