Introduction.
Welcome to my life.
True Life,
This is the story of a girl and her unusual experiences through first love,
Heartbreak,
And tragedy.
That girl was me.
Within these pages is my unfiltered,
Ugly,
Raw truth laid across a timeline that quickly crashed with disaster at the age of 17.
Though those initial events occurred within 12 months,
It took another 14 years for me to find the courage to face my past,
Relive every heart-wrenching moment,
And share the details in tangible form for the first time.
Even if you know me personally,
Or had any part in the series of unfortunate events to follow in these chapters,
You will learn details of my personal experience that I have never shared before.
Many of these details I've only recently discovered through writing this book.
Buried deeply within me,
Even I wasn't aware of their existence.
Until I finally surrendered to face my truth through writing,
I didn't realize their impact on my life and sense of self-worth.
After the tragedies concluded,
I spent the next decade hidden behind a mask of strength and optimism.
I even earned an engineering degree,
Succeeded in a corporate career,
And then walked away to start my own business.
Yet the traumatized young girl inside me continued to cry silently for my attention and healing throughout my artwork successes.
Unannounced waves of depression and anxiety caught me in turbulent storms of silent suffering over those years.
I often crawled into countless deep dark holes of guilt and self-sabotage,
Denying myself the love and healing I have become so passionate about sharing with others.
Shortly after the actual events occurred,
I felt a calling to write my story.
Many people who learned of my experiences responded with,
Wow,
This should be a book or a movie.
I dismiss the potential importance of sharing my journey for the entire decade I spent distracting myself with every opportunity to prove my worth.
Behind closed doors,
I continued to indulge in self-loathing and deny myself the healing I needed from writing these words.
I finally committed to writing my story by taking a massive leap of faith with my career.
No longer able to ignore my calling to write and help others heal,
I quit my job and started a wellness business.
I took my first month of freedom off to relax from the corporate roller coaster I exited with full belief that I could write my entire book within that free time.
I mean,
I already had the whole story.
All I had to do was put it into words.
Eighteen months later,
I'd hardly made it past the outline in first few chapters.
Within the first weeks of building my story and facing its details,
My writing came to a screeching halt.
I let myself silently suffer until I couldn't physically stand it anymore.
After making confessions to my mom and best friend,
I was able to climb far enough from the darkness to set a new goal.
Take the time I needed and deserved to heal myself so that I could genuinely help others heal through my experience.
Instead of writing,
I spent those months diving deeper into self-exploration and uncovering the deepest roots of my old pain,
Guilt and suffering.
And when I finally returned to these pages,
I realized that I never lost time from finishing the book.
I was still living the story.
After another 18 months of intertwined healing,
Failing,
Teaching,
Writing,
Facing a pandemic,
Giving up my entire life for a new one again,
And rediscovering my most authentic self,
The grand finale of my one-of-a-kind journey is finally here.
Up until the last pages,
I continue to heal,
Grow and flourish all along the way.
What lies ahead is a collection of my most absolute raw truth to the best of my memory.
It is a roadmap of the mistakes,
Lessons,
Divine interventions,
And personal evolution that allowed me to heal from my past,
Love myself,
And manifest a deeply fulfilling life.
Some names and situations have been changed to protect the identity and privacy of those unnamed individuals in my story.
Some names,
Situations,
Some names and situations have been changed to protect the identity and privacy of those involved in my experiences.
If you recognize yourself as one of these unnamed individuals in my story,
I thank you for helping me to shape the most important and often hardest lessons I needed to learn And I remind you that these words are simply honest reflections of my younger self's perspective.
I have no intentions of offending or undermining anyone who anonymously made a cameo appearance within these pages.
In sharing my darkest,
Most vulnerable experiences,
I hope you might find compassion for yourself and your own story.
I put mine into words to reach out to others suffering out there,
In hopes you might be able to relate and feel less alone.
I pray you discover some valuable insights that might inspire you to make better,
More self-loving choices in your own life.
No matter your age or gender,
May these words rekindle a liberating sense of understanding for your own darkest truths,
And gratitude for your life's lessons,
So that you too can find ultimate healing,
Freedom and the power to manifest the dream life that you deserve.
If I could do it,
Then you can too.
Are you ready?
You're about to step into one real and raw journey,
From trauma and surviving to ultimate freedom and thriving,
All road bumps,
Highlights and lessons learned included.
But before we dive into all the juicy details,
Let's begin at the beginning.
Back to May of 2001.
When a 12-year-old girl met the boy who would change her life.
