Hello and welcome.
My name is Amanda Salvara and I'll be guiding you through an emotional freedom technique tapping session today that taps through the hypoarousal,
Shut down,
Freeze,
Nervous system response.
In the body.
And with this topic today or this experience and theme.
It's encouraged that you bring yourself a warm.
Drink of your favourite flavoured tea.
Or maybe a water.
Blanket.
And things that can really provide some grounding feeling of comfort as well during this time.
Now with the body going into hyper arousal it's very much a protection strategy.
What hypoarousal does for us in our nervous system is that survival mode.
Strategy being activated.
Now people are probably familiar with the hyper arousal and that can feel like fight or flight.
Anxiety,
Anger,
A lot of those.
Action-orientated feeling sensations or thoughts that might come up.
Hypoarousal is very much when that feels far too much for the body to process,
To handle,
Is flooded and is pushed in to shut down,
Freeze.
Our flying numbness.
So when we tap through this today,
You might notice the body coming online and feeling hyper arousal sensations or experiences.
So with that in mind,
We'll go through some of those.
Steps to help navigate that.
To help process whatever it is that does need to come up.
And work through the body but also you're welcome to pause at any time.
Stand up,
Shake it off.
Take a sip of water or that warm tea.
Or even just look around the room.
Using your full peripheral vision.
Left and right just to feed back to the nervous system the limbic system where all of the nerves feeding back that if we can look around,
If we can take sips of water,
If we can get up and move.
That we are able to rest and digest.
Or feel able to not be fixed.
On anything that is stressful or being seen as stressful.
Associated with stress.
Hypoarousal,
I'm going to invite you to notice what it is that is coming up for you.
What is it that brings you here today that you want to tap through?
And on that subjective unit of distress or intensity scale,
10 being most intense you've ever felt that.
Numbness that frees.
That fogginess,
However hyper or as we're showing up for you in your body or the mind.
Zero be not feeling anything at all.
Feeling totally calm,
Totally at that base level of ease.
Now you could be at a nine,
You could be at a three.
It's all welcome here to just invite that curiosity of what Well,
Shit.
Maybe up to the surface.
And what else comes up for you as insights.
As tapping as well,
Is quite an interesting experience that some people notice and very contrasting things that happen for them.
So no,
There's no right or wrong,
Good or bad way of experiencing a response.
It really is whatever is needing to show up for you in the moment to moment that's going to be beneficial to acknowledge,
Pause.
And chain two.
So we'll begin with the first round,
Which is acknowledging how hyperarousal can show up in the body.
Now I might say something that doesn't land for you and there's going to be something that's more relevant,
Please do go with that.
Because the more relevant it is for you and your experience,
The more effective that's going to be for you through the tapping session.
I'll say the phrase.
Then I'll pause long enough for you to be able to repeat it before we move on to the next tapping point.
On the body.
And you can use.
Both hands or one hand,
Left or right,
Either is fine.
And as we move through.
The collarbones here will be one inch below the collarbone.
You can go up and down or stay on the spot.
And it'll be one hand below the armpit or on a bra strap if you're wearing a bra.
Then we finish from the top of the head.
At the end of each round,
We'll take a deep breath in.
Breathing out,
You'll be guided through dropping through the body.
Invitation to notice what's there,
What comes up.
Shifts on the subjective unit of distress scale what sits up to the surface.
And also what might come up as an insight.
It's all relevant and all important in your moment to moment process.
Our second round will go straight into the possibilities,
Acknowledging what else might be true,
What else might our mind body be doing for us.
When our body is going into hypoarousal.
And again,
I might say statement.
Doesn't quite land for you and it might be something else,
Go with that.
Might say a few words of how it can show up,
You choose the one that is relevant for you in that moment.
At the end of that round,
We'll drop into the breath.
Notice what comes up,
What shifts,
What sits.
We'll go into the third round.
Taking away some of those insights.
Integrate into that reframe of how we experience hypoarousal,
Our relationship to how it shows up in the body,
How it shows up in thoughts,
How it might show up as emotional signals.
And taking away.
What that might mean to you moving forward.
Now the process is going to be using a generic script,
So please do that.
Adapt,
Tweak to what lands for you.
Before we begin,
I'll invite you to take that sip of water,
Maybe that pause to drop in.
And check where are you on that scale of subjective unit of distress or intensity when you're experiencing that.
Hyper arousal response of either numbness For me now.
Maybe coolness,
Coldness.
Or is it a heat?
Just take that moment now to drop in,
Tune in what's there.
How would you rate that for the most intense you've ever felt,
That zero not being much at all?
And we're not trying to change it here,
We're just trying to.
.
.
To an end to it.
Acknowledge how it's showing up.
And we'll begin just tapping on the side of the hand here with our setup statement.
Even though.
.
.
It can feel really difficult to tune into what's there right now.
I deeply and completely accept myself.
Even though It can feel all too much just to sit in it.
I deeply and completely accept myself anyway.
Even though it can feel incredibly heavy just acknowledging it just now.
I deeply and completely accept myself anyway.
This feeling of numbness.
Feeling exhausting.
Feeling this heaviness all the time.
Feels very difficult to shift out of.
Feels like nothing and all too much.
The thoughts.
Feel heavy also.
The body is processing a lot right now.
Sometimes it feels like it isn't getting any easier.
Noticing how this heaviness So let's disconnection showing up for me just now.
Taking in a deep breath.
As you breathe out.
Just notice where you land in your body.
Continue taking in another deep breath.
Breathing in to the bottom of the ribcage and the backs of the ribs.
As you breathe out,
Dropping in a little deeper.
Noticing where that sensation is.
Maybe that thought.
Feeling or emotion has.
Land it now.
If you held that subjective unit of distress or intensity of where that was sitting.
Where has it shifted to or what's lifted up?
Now into the foreground.
And take the time you need here to breathe in.
Notice.
If any sensations start to arise as we tap through hyperarousal into hyperarousal maybe.
Is anything being activated?
Or has there been any protection that feels reinforced,
Maybe feels more disconnected,
Maybe more distant?
Just noticing.
Where is that landing for you?
You're welcome to stand up and shake things off if it feels like there's just a lot of energy that's come up.
To just let go or if you wanna wipe your arms down as well and your body.
See what feels good.
You want to stay there with the breath.
Maybe expanding with each breath as well.
That sense of space to feel what might be coming up,
What might be there.
We'll go into our second round now of acknowledging what else might be true.
Those possibilities.
They can.
Feel free to reframe anything that feels more true for you.
Get ready.
With any feelings or sensations.
And we'll begin again with those setup statements now.
Even though there's habit pattern.
Of numbness,
Disassociation.
Is difficult to shift.
I acknowledge it shows up for me in the only way it knows how.
Even though.
It can feel frustrating.
Not be able to shift out of this feeling.
I acknowledge my body is always working for me.
In the ways that knows how.
Eve the third.
It can feel like my body is.
.
.
Doing far too much than it needs to.
Deeply and completely.
Appreciate that my body's working with the wisdom.
As available to it now.
What if there is just a lot going on at the moment?
Maybe my body is still feeling like there aren't any options.
And what if it's okay to rest?
My body is forcing itself to rest.
Maybe I've been a very intense human doing.
Perhaps this is the time when my body just wants to be a human being.
I'm open to understand the context of what it is my body's trying to do for me.
Acknowledging all the possibilities of what it is it's doing and needs now.
Taking in that deep,
Slow breath.
Feel free to close your eyes or lower your gaze.
To deepen that.
Achievement.
Or what it's about.
As you breathe out and drop into the body.
Notice where your attention takes you.
Are you loud?
Taking in.
And deep breaths.
Each time expanding your awareness.
What you feel yourself dropping into.
Where you feel tension maybe in the muscles.
Where the breath feels limited on the breath out,
Just allowing yourself to soften even if it's just a little bit.
Where those tensions are.
Breathing in,
Expanding that awareness.
To where you are now on that subjective unit of distress or intensity.
Compared to maybe when we started.
The start of the session.
What has shifted and what's sifted up to the foreground.
What are you noticing either being activated or may be starting to resist or continuing to resist.
Were there any words or phrases where you noticed a strong response in the body?
Or any tapping points.
Where there was an internal narrative,
Maybe a word or phrase.
That came up as an insight for you.
You're welcome to pause here.
Note down.
Maybe spend a little bit more time tuning into that.
What it is that you noticed.
And again,
If you feel the body needs.
You can take that twist in your chest.
Maybe look around the room.
Maybe even stand up.
Have a shake off before resetting into our third and final round.
Of integrating any insights.
That may have come up for you.
The first and second round of acknowledging what else is true in those possibilities.
And I'll say some statements in this integration round that can be useful.
Ways of looking at what this can mean moving forward,
This awareness and these insights.
And again,
Whatever is more true for you,
Whatever insights that actually came up for you that I might not cover here,
Feel free to repeat.
What feels most beneficial and specific for what it is that resonates for you at this time.
Feel free to take that sip of water.
That reset as we go into our setup statements with the intention of what it is we want to integrate moving forward.
And we'll pick it.
Even though being in hyper arousal,
Numbness,
Disconnection.
Bogginess does not feel helpful at times.
I can be open to understanding it's my body's way of meeting a need in that moment.
Even though it can feel really hard to accept this part of my human experience.
I can deeply and completely accept myself anyway.
Even though.
I'm still getting to know my body,
Its signals and its needs.
I'm open to taking some time and space to tune in to what that could look like.
Maybe I don't have to force anything.
I could just surrender.
To what the body is trying to do for me.
All whilst holding that compassion.
Curiosity,
That understanding.
Life and this human experience can be hard and heavy sometimes.
And I'm open to the possibilities.
Of what moments of rest.
On meeting that need can look like.
Because it's okay for my body to rest if it needs rest.
Not everyone will or has to understand that.
I'm building that relationship with myself and my body.
And what is beneficial.
I'm allowed.
To be a human being.
Taking in that deep breath.
Lowering your gaze or closing your eyes,
Really deeply dropping in now.
And with each breath in,
Expanding.
That sense of awareness of what's there.
Doing a body scan starting from the head.
Down your shoulders as you breathe in and out so gently with yourself as well.
No pressure or expectation to breathe into the max here,
Just as far as your body feels comfortable.
Nourishing.
All that deep breath.
And as you scan or notice where you land,
Where your attention goes.
Just holding that.
Attunement,
What it is that you are meeting with that curiosity.
With that compassion of what it's showing up to do for you,
To show you.
And not expecting it to change.
Not expecting it to be anything else but what it is right now.
Just notice how it responds.
Taking in a few more deep breaths there.
Thank you,
Ria.
And open.
Where have you landed now on that subjective unit of distress or intensity?
With 10 being the most intense you would have felt that response of.
Like arousal.
Showing up.
Zero being not feeling much at all,
Feeling quite calm in the body.
Or at a baseline.
Where have you landed now?
How is that showing up for you?
If it feels like something that.
Is beneficial.
Stay there with the breath,
Stay with where it feels beneficial and expand.
That feeling,
That sensation more intensely with each breath in.
Like it's a radiating warmth.
Or even a light.
If you find yourself going more visually or more sensory.
And imagine it washing over.
Hello.
Hold.
Maybe warm air.
For a long.
Blanket,
Whatever feels most inviting,
Most beneficial for you right now.
Notice yourself soften or even notice parts of you start to feel a little bit more activated,
Maybe a little bit more connected.
Being gentle with whatever it is that does show up there.
If it's something that had been lumped out because maybe it didn't feel beneficial before to process it.
Acknowledging when you meet it.
What does it need?
In this moment.
Is acknowledging it enough.
Is it more than enough?
As you find what it is.
That is being met.
Then dig that.
Signal that.
Part of the self that experience.
Gratitude for allowing itself to be seen,
To be acknowledged,
To be out today.
And if you feel that needs to be met with physical touch,
Placing a hand wherever it needs to be.
Sending that gratitude directly with that intention.
But it is deeply and completely.
Accepted.
Maybe there's that wanting to let it know grateful for what it's trying to do for you.
Maybe it's that gratitude of thanks for bringing it up to this point so far.
Maybe another part will take it from here.
Naturally.
Way of being.
Maybe there's something that is beneficial to do.
Just being curious what it is that's needed in this moment.
From that in a knowing.
Bringing yourself back into the space.
Back into the present moment.
With that.
Stretching out your arms.
Wiggling your toes.
Pressing your your feet into the ground.
Activating these parts of the body to come back online.
Maybe another deep breath.
Breathing out what it is that you want to leave in this space.
Today.
You don't need to take with you.
The week ahead and maybe breathing in.
Thinking what it is that you do want to take in with you,
That you do want to integrate moving forward.
However that looks or shows up like for you.
Thank you for listening.
Showing up for yourself today.
And allowing what needed to come up to come up,
What needed to be tuned into to be attuned.
And for taking this moment for yourself as well in what can feel like a very busy time or period in life.
Feel free to grab yourself your favorite flavored tea,
Water.
Get whatever it is that you need after this session today.
And be very gentle with yourself as well following these sessions as things can come up or comes to the foreground to be processed.
Whether that's taking another 10 minutes just to relax and ease on into the rest of your day while using those 10 minutes to transition through journaling.
Again just finding what it is that's beneficial for you.
Until next time,
May you be happy,
May you be well and may you find peace in whatever it is that comes up in the week ahead.
Thanks for joining.
Bye for now.
