Did you know that more than half of your body is not human?
You are actually an ecosystem teeming with diverse microscopic life called the microbiome.
Your living,
Breathing body is a complex set of interactions among thousands of species of bacteria,
Fungi,
And yes,
Even viruses.
You are a miracle,
Complete with an intelligent immune system to keep you healthy and strong.
Maybe you were taught that your immune system acts like a network of armed border guards working to keep you safe from foreign invaders.
What if,
Instead,
Those foreigners turn out to be allies that help you digest your food,
Neutralize environmental toxins,
And help you in ways that science is just now discovering?
What if your immune system acts more like a peacekeeper or caretaker,
Tending your environment to ensure a healthy balance of biodiversity?
In this meditation,
You are invited to journey with your immune system and explore your diverse inner landscape.
Let's begin by imagining your body as a meadow,
Ringed with trees and filled with grasses and flowers.
Close your eyes and feel the warmth of the sun on your face.
Take a deep breath and taste the air.
Feel a light breeze brush your skin.
Listen to the hum of the bees and the songs of the birds.
Is that a woodpecker tapping?
Or a hawk screeching?
Your inner meadow is filled with life,
Some that you can sense right away and much more that lies beneath the surface.
Place your hands on your belly and sink your awareness deep into the ground.
Relax and be grateful for your collective body's wisdom and its capacity for connection,
Cooperation,
And well-being.
Now let the music of the gong bring peace and harmony to boost your immune system and allow your inner meadow to flourish.
Listen to the hum of the bees and the songs of the birds.
You You You You You You You You You You You You You Slowly bring your awareness back into your fingers and toes Bring your hands to your heart and thank your immune system for tending to your miraculous ecosystem Give thanks also to the multitude of unseen life forms that work together and call your body home You
