Welcome to the Who Am I?
Meditation and Spiritual Inquiry.
Please note,
This is the meditation only version.
And for a full explanation and insights it is very important to have listened to the full length track.
Once you are familiar with the inquiry you will be able to naturally use this practice at any time of your day,
When you have a few moments to spare.
This will help bring you back to awareness.
Some very brief key reminders before we go to the meditation.
Who am I?
Is the fundamental spiritual inquiry.
In its essence it could be traced back to the first yogi,
Adyogi,
15,
Its simplicity and power can be life transforming when truly understood.
Who am I?
The question dissolves the limited identity questioner and the self is realised.
In a few moments I will ring the singing bowl to signal the start of the practice.
If you haven't already done so,
Just gently close your eyes now.
Simply,
Silently,
Accept fully whatever is here now,
Without any judgement,
Breath,
Feelings,
Thoughts,
Sensations,
Emotions.
Whatever is here,
Just accept that fact,
Fully.
Observe it all with a neutral interest,
Just like you are watching a movie from the inside.
Simply,
Silently,
Watching,
Observing,
Witnessing,
That's all.
As you continue to witness,
Simply and gently now,
Inside,
Let this question arise.
Who am I?
Who?
Pause and witness.
Just witness.
Just rest with this.
If anything comes,
Wonderful.
Just let that be.
No need to analyse.
Just witness.
If nothing emerges,
Also wonderful.
Just witness and be with the space.
All is ultimately well.
Who am I?
Now continuing with your eyes closed,
I'll share insight.
On first use of this meditation,
People might get answers that relate to identity,
Name,
Relationships,
Job,
Nationality or similar.
This is okay.
Nothing wrong or right.
Just notice those things.
Sometimes an opening might occur and a deeper response emerges,
A pointing to awareness,
Whichever it is for you right now.
Simply notice what is here without any judgement.
Now,
Let's go a little further and with your eyes still closed and accepting whatever is here,
Let this new question emerge inside.
Who am I without memory?
Who am I without memory?
Wait,
Watch,
Observe,
Witness.
Who am I without memory?
If something comes,
Wonderful.
If not,
Also wonderful.
Just be with the space.
It's perfectly okay.
You can stay with your eyes closed and listen to this insight.
The second question is another way or invitation to move beyond mind identification and hence the reference to without memory.
This way can take us beyond mind and people will start to gradually get deeper awarenesses arising.
Love,
Silence,
Stillness,
Awareness,
Presence,
Essence,
Emptiness and others.
It may take a bit of practice but it's worth staying the course,
Since this very simple approach is actually infinitely powerful and that goes directly to why mystics for millennia have employed this enquiry in many different ways.
What emerged for you?
Whatever it was,
It's okay,
Even if nothing at all.
This is a journey,
Not a race.
It may take some time,
Yet it is ultimately simple.
You can use this practice many times a day when you have a few moments to spare.
It can help to bring you back to awareness at any point when you have noticed yourself slipping.
You can integrate it into your daily meditations,
Either before,
During or after.
Go with what works.
In a moment the singing bowl will sound and after that I'll share some final guidance.
Just remaining simply,
Silently,
Aware,
Resting,
Aware of your body,
The chair you are sat on or whatever you may be lay on,
Aware of the room,
The space.
When the moment is right for you,
Just gently open your eyes in the knowing that this awareness is ever present and you are it.
Repetition is key in self-realisation.
Just consider how many years we have spent being conditioned into believing a limited version of ourselves.
Give yourself a break,
Go easy and trust the power of awareness or infinite silence.
It will transform your life from within and you will see and realise you are it.
Be still and know you are infinite awareness or silence always.
Namaste and many blessings.
