Hello,
I am Dr.
Sayiba Aiko and I will be your contemplative meditation guide for the next 15 minutes.
During this time,
I invite you to become comfortable,
Still and relaxed.
We'll begin with the quote to contemplate.
Then we'll engage in breath work and I'll guide you on a meditation journey and leave you with an affirmation.
So let's begin.
I invite you to either close your eyes and lower your gaze as you listen and contemplate today's quote.
So often people are working hard at the wrong thing.
Working on the right thing is probably more important than working hard by Katerina Fink.
As you breathe,
Allow those words to sit with you and contemplate.
I'll read them twice more.
So often people are working hard at the wrong thing.
Working on the right thing is probably more important than working hard.
Notice what comes up in your mind,
Your body,
Your heart as you listen to these words.
So often people are working hard at the wrong thing.
Working on the right thing is probably more important than working hard.
What arises for me is this idea of force versus flow.
The word purpose comes up for me.
How much easier it is once we align with our true purpose.
I have more energy and capacity when I'm aligned with the very reason I exist.
I am on this earth at this time in this body with these set of experiences to fulfill a purpose.
My purpose.
I also feel how much pleasure I experience throughout the day when I am working on the right thing.
My passion.
Nowadays we see so many people hustling and grinding and out of purpose.
It's exhausting.
Working without passion.
Just watching this is exhausting.
In this moment I invite you,
If your eyes are not already closed,
To close your eyes and become a little more relaxed.
And at your own pace begin to deepen and slow your breath.
Inhaling and exhaling out of your mouth as if you're sipping through a straw on the inhale and blowing out of the straw on your exhale.
Purse lips taking your time at your own pace.
Inhaling and exhaling through and out of your mouth with pursed lips.
And on each exhale become a little more relaxed.
Notice what happens in your body as you slow the pace of your breath.
I invite you to release the breath and breathe at a pace that feels normal and natural for you.
With your eyes closed imagine a ball of white light at the corner of your eye.
At the core of you.
Within your stomach see this ball of white light.
And see it slowly expand.
Feeling the entirety of your abdomen and then expanding throughout your body.
Moving to your chest,
All the way up through to your arms,
Your neck,
Your head.
And then expanding below.
Down to your lower abdomen,
Pelvis,
Your glutes,
Your legs,
Your knees,
Calves,
Ankles,
All the way to your feet.
Now you're filled with this ball of white light and imagine that white light expand.
So now it permeates through your skin and it surrounds you,
Arm's length,
All the way around.
So now you're engulfed in this ball of white light.
Then I'd like you to imagine yourself as a little child,
A toddler.
See yourself playing and having fun.
Laughing.
Oh what joy.
What did you most enjoy as a child?
See yourself right now delighting in that.
And who did you do those things with?
Were you alone?
Were you with your parents?
Perhaps with your siblings?
Or maybe with your friends?
See yourself having so much fun as a little child doing what you most love.
With whomever you enjoy doing those things with.
Now I invite you to see yourself as an adolescent.
What did you most enjoy?
Did it change?
Who did you most enjoy doing those things with?
Did that change?
Simply notice as an adolescent you doing the things that you most love with the people you delighted in being with and around.
Or perhaps you were alone doing the thing that you enjoy.
See yourself however you enjoyed doing things as an adolescent.
Maybe you were with friends.
Did you enjoy small groups or large groups?
Now see yourself as a young adult.
Perhaps going off to college or trade school or work.
What did you decide to do?
And why?
Is it what your soul really desired?
Or was it something to make money?
Did you enjoy doing whatever it is you decided to do as a young adult?
Or was it simply to make money?
See yourself doing the thing and imagine how you felt.
Did you ever recall hearing work hard throughout your life?
Did one or many people perhaps say work hard?
What did those words mean to you?
And how did it feel to work hard?
Did you feel connected to what you were truly here to do?
Or did you feel like you were forcing yourself to do what everyone else was doing?
Because you thought this was your only option or the best way.
Take a deep breath.
You're going to notice what you're doing now in your life.
What is your career or your work?
Does it come easy for you?
Or is it lots of hard work?
Does it excite you or light your soul up?
Is it what you feel you were created to do?
If so,
Simply enjoy that in the moment.
If not,
How might you begin to invite more of what you enjoy and are passionate about?
Simply contemplate this.
What would feel good for you to be working on daily?
Letting go of all the conditioning around working hard.
Yes,
We may have challenges and we may even have to put in a few extra hours occasionally.
However,
When we are working on the right thing,
Our purpose,
What we are passionate about,
It brings us pleasure.
It doesn't feel so hard and depleting.
It's fun,
Exciting,
Energizing,
And exhilarating.
We want to do these things because we love what we do and it's easy to lose ourselves in the moment.
Think about and see yourself doing something that comes relatively easy for you that others perhaps find challenging.
See yourself doing what you actually enjoy.
If you are not currently doing this,
Simply imagine what you might like,
What would feel good for you.
What does that look like?
Seeing yourself doing this work,
How does it make you feel?
Does it give you hope?
Does it make your stomach tingle?
Notice what happens in your body as you imagine yourself doing the work that you love,
That you came here to do.
Fulfilling your purpose in your own way.
Know that you are worthy of living your purpose with ease.
When you are ready,
I invite you to take the deepest breath you've taken all day.
And on the exhale,
Slowly returning into the space.
Feeling the ground beneath you,
Beginning to wiggle your fingers and toes.
Today's affirmation,
I am fulfilling my purpose in this world.
We'll repeat that three times.
I am fulfilling my purpose in this world.
We'll repeat that three times.
I am fulfilling my purpose in this world.
Two more times.
I am fulfilling my purpose in this world.
One last time.
I am fulfilling my purpose in this world.
I invite you to be mindful,
Breathe deep often,
And contemplate how it feels to be working in your purpose.
Thank you for meditating with me today.
