In this meditation you will follow your breath into closer connection with the earth.
And visualise climbing a tree which represents the best qualities of the Earth Mother archetype that's embodied in your upper left first molar.
Before we start,
Take a moment to get in a really comfortable position,
Sitting or lying,
Whatever feels best right now.
When you feel settled.
Close your eyes.
With your tongue or just your attention.
Touch your upper left first molar or the space near the back of your mouth where that tooth would be.
With relaxed curiosity and an open mind,
Invite the essence of your upper left first molar,
The Earth Mother archetype,
To join you during this meditation.
Take a slow,
Deep breath in through your nose.
Feeling your lungs fill,
Your belly rise,
Then fall,
As you breathe out through your nose,
Feeling warm air trickle across your top lips.
Follow another breath all the way in.
And all the way out.
In and out.
Keep slow,
Steady breathing.
With each out breath,
Feel the weight of gravity pulling you into the Earth's secure embrace.
If you are sitting down,
Sink into your thighs and bottom.
If you are lying down,
Relax the back of your head.
Your shoulder blades.
Relax your hips and pelvis.
Relax the back of your legs and all the connection points with the surface beneath you.
Let yourself sink deeply into that support.
Imagine that each breath out has such downward momentum that root tendrils start to extend from these lowest points in your body's position right now.
With each breath out,
Delicate roots reach downwards.
With each out-breath wriggling through the structures of furniture and buildings beneath you.
Questing towards the earth.
With each breath out now,
You are rooting into the soil and rock below,
Creating a secure yet dynamic foundation.
With each breath out,
Send love and gratitude through your roots down to your Earth Mother.
With each in-breath,
The earth sends nourishing support and unconditional love up your root system,
Into your body,
Creating a solid,
Welcoming connection.
From this secure foundation.
Imagine you can feel the warmth of the sun pouring golden light directly down onto the crown of your head.
This light contains the unconditional love and infinite wisdom of the whole universe.
Feel it pour into you,
Filling you and mingling with the Earth's energies with each breath cycle.
Now,
Imagine that you are standing in a wide field of tall golden stalks of grain,
Crackling dry and ready for harvest.
In front of you is the edge of a forest.
You step forward towards a wide,
Inviting opening into the grove.
And as you enter the shade,
You feel relief under the trees as you leave hot,
Bright sunlight behind.
Instantly you feel cooler and more comfortable in the dappled shade beneath tall,
Gracious trees.
There's plenty of space for you to wander through this open,
Airy forest.
It's quiet and peaceful here.
Eventually,
You find a tree with a broad trunk that splits into three wide branches dipping low to the ground.
Buttress roots poke up like steps from pillows of soft green moss.
You easily climb into the crook of the tree and settle into a comfortable position,
Supported by the branches in a spacious embrace.
You are being held in the lap of the tree with her arms wrapped lovingly around you.
It's so utterly secure and safe there in the tree that you can relax your whole body even more.
Let your weight sink completely into the strength of the tree.
Feel your shoulders drop,
Your fingers uncurl.
Your jaw softens.
Your neck loosens.
Your hips open a little,
Your feet flop.
You sigh with the relief of letting go of all tension from your body.
Inside the canopy of rustling leaves that surround you,
Dappled sunlight is tinged green.
There is a pleasant hum of insects singing their pollinating songs in the distance.
Above you a bird starts to sing as stillness opens up.
Gradually you become aware that the pleasant scents of the leaves and bark and moss are being overtaken by a delicious sweet smell of ripening fruit.
Looking around,
You see a succulent orb of one of your favourite fruits hanging within arm's reach.
You can tell from its colour that it's perfectly ripe.
When you reach out to cut it gently in your hand,
The fruit separates from its twig with the lightest touch.
Cradle this fruit,
A gift from the tree which is holding you.
Feel the weight of it and the taut texture of its ripeness.
Turn it over in your hands to look at its perfect skin from every angle.
Let its irresistible scent flood your nostrils,
Making your mouth water.
Taking a succulent bite,
The juicy crunch seems loud in the quiet grove.
Sweet juice fills your mouth.
With more delicious flavour than any fruit you've had before.
Immerse yourself in the taste,
Smell and texture as you savour this mouthful.
When you swallow,
Your body instantly responds to the life force shared by this freshest of fruit,
And you realize it is almost magical in the way it's clarifying your thoughts,
Opening up your intuition,
And channeling new insights.
Each bite increases your pleasure in being nourished with such a wholesome and delicious food,
While being held securely and lovingly in the arms of the tree.
This sense of nourishment flows into every crack and hollow left behind where you've ever felt a lack of love,
Security or nourishment.
When the fruit is finished,
You feel replete,
Completely satisfied.
Relax even further into the cradle of branches around you.
Rest your juice-sticky fingers on its back.
Send heartfelt gratitude to the tree.
Your thanks are absorbed into its wood and carried down the trunk to its roots and from there into the soil below.
The Earth Mother's generous acknowledgement reverberates around you and through you.
When you feel completely rested and restored,
Say farewell with gratitude,
Knowing you can return any time you need to.
Climb down from your perch in two easy steps.
In front of you,
The path through the forest is clear and wide,
Leading you back towards the bright sunlight beyond.
Step out from the shady grove and start to return into the here and now with a deeper breath.
Wriggle your fingers.
Wriggle your toes.
Stretch your body and then open your eyes when you are ready.
Look around the space you are in.
Find something pleasant to rest your attention on for a moment.
You might like to take a few minutes now to journal about what you saw and learned while meeting the Earth Mother archetype of your Upper Left First Molar.
