If you are not already there come into a comfortable seated or lying position.

Begin to let go of any remaining tension in the body.

Allow everything to soften.

On each exhale you're becoming lighter.

As you surrender into a space where loving kindness can be cultivated.

Take three deep cleansing breaths.

As you free your mind of all unnecessary thoughts.

Place your hand on your heart as you breathe slowly and mindfully.

Tune in as the breath fills up that entire space with vital nourishment for your whole body.

After three deep breaths fully relax now into your natural rhythm of breathing.

Begin by repeating these four loving kindness affirmations with deep intent and purpose.

Keep your hand on your heart and focus on the affirmations being placed directly into your heart.

May I be loving.

May I be forgiving.

May I show understanding.

May I be responsible for my own inner peace.

May I be loving.

May I be forgiving.

May I show understanding.

May I be responsible for my own inner peace.

May I be loving.

May I be forgiving.

May I show understanding.

May I be responsible for my own inner peace.

Now repeat these four loving kindness affirmations for others.

Focus on the loving energy traveling to exactly where it is needed in the external world.

May you be loved.

May you be forgiven.

May you be understood.

May you be responsible for your own inner peace.

May you be loved.

May you be forgiven.

May you be understood.

May you be responsible for your own inner peace.

May you be loved.

May you be forgiven.

May you be understood.

May you be responsible for your own inner peace.

Take as long as you need here.

Notice how you feel,

Really tune into your heart and feel the loving energy that you have created internally and externally.

Allow it to travel around your whole body and cleanse you.

Have a moment of gratitude here towards yourself for dedicating this time to an important spiritual practice.

In your own time just refocusing on the breath.

Taking your time to come back to the physical presence of your body.

Thank you for sharing this loving kindness meditation practice.

This simple yet grounding and steady mediation was just what I needed in facing a serious body challenge that has confounded many doctors and has created much fear for me. I can use this mantra: May I be loving, forgiving, understanding and Most of All - responsible for my own inner peace (cause no provider can give this to me!). Overall, I find this meditation Comforting and reassuring.
