Thanksgiving,
A time for gratitude.
During this time of Thanksgiving,
Let us focus on areas of our life that bring us joy.
So wherever this meditation finds you,
Allow yourself to get comfortable.
Closing your eyes,
Taking deep,
Long breaths.
Allowing your body to soften.
Releasing any tension around the eyes,
The mouth,
The neck,
The shoulders,
The hands and the feet.
Breathing deeply and relaxing completely.
Visualize one area of your life that fills your heart with joy.
It could be a human,
An animal,
A place on this beautiful planet.
Bring that image into your mind and notice the sensations in your body,
Particularly around the heart area.
Maybe you feel tingling,
Warmth,
Vibration,
Whatever sensation you're feeling.
Allow it to spread through your body,
Filling up your body like a bathtub of warm water.
Visualize this area in your life that brings you joy,
This person,
Place or thing.
And allow a small smile to creep up on your face.
Allow gratitude to wash over you.
This time of year is about what we have versus what we don't have.
We could always have more.
There's always the want and desire for improvement.
But I encourage you to settle in and be satisfied with what you have right here and right now.
Knowing and noticing what you're grateful for and attaching a why.
Why are you grateful for that?
This will help you in your practice to allow your body to identify and remember feelings of joy and gratitude and rewiring our propensity to always focus on the negative.
You deserve to feel joy and gratitude.
If your mind has wandered or anything has tensed up in your body,
Take another deep,
Long breath and let go.
Relax your spine,
Your lower limbs.
Breathe and settle,
Feeling in your heart the joy and gratitude that each day brings.
Feeling the area in your life that is easy to find joy.
Take another deep,
Long breath.
Then allowing your breath to come back to its natural rhythm.
Maybe it's hard today to be grateful for anything.
And just be grateful for each new breath.
When you're ready,
Open your eyes,
Wiggle your fingers and your toes.
Look around the room with a newfound sense of gratitude and thanksgiving.
Allow your practice today to spread ripples of gratitude and joy and thanksgiving throughout the world.
It starts with us,
Right here,
Right now.
Thank you so much for allowing me the precious gift of your time.
Until next time.
