Welcome to this meditation.

My name is Hillary Davis and this meditation is one to use if you're suffering with jet lag,

Lying in bed,

Wanting to sleep but with a busy mind.

So take a moment to get comfortable in bed.

Allow your body to feel the support of your bed and arrange your limbs comfortably.

Once you feel settled,

Gently close your eyes and bring your awareness to your breath.

Notice your breath as it moves into your body,

The feeling of the air on your nostrils and out again.

Leave your attention on your breath for a few breaths.

Just gently breathing in and out again.

Giving yourself permission to relax,

To let go and in particular to let go of that deep desire to be asleep.

You might notice that as you're sitting with your attention on your breath,

Thoughts might creep in.

Your mind might feel quite busy.

Either thinking about things that have happened in the past or things that might be coming up tomorrow or in the future.

So as these thoughts come up for you,

Just label them as either remembering if they're thoughts about the past or if they're thoughts about the future,

Planning.

So as your busy,

Inquisitive,

Curious mind does what it does best and brings these thoughts in,

Bring your awareness to that and label them planning or remembering.

So use the power of your mind to notice this.

And once you've noticed and labeled what those thoughts are,

Just gently turn your mind back to how your breath feels in your body and keep doing that.

And with each breath and each moment of that awareness,

You'll relax your body and relax your mind.

And eventually your body will be ready to sleep.

Thank you for joining me in this meditation.

I wish you a deep restful sleep and please look after yourself.

Good night.
