This is an I Ching reading for November 2024.
The I Ching is a thought-provoking guide of wisdom and continues to be one of the most translated texts of all time.
The messages of the I Ching speak to both the spiritual and earthly parts of life,
Offering suggestions of supportive,
Life-giving paths for one to follow.
Guidance is initially provided in the forms of symbolic language,
Which is then described into literal language.
The symbols are comprised of two trigrams which form a hexagram.
Each trigram of yin-yang symbology has its own story,
And it is through the trigrams that we find messages for how to manage the related change in life.
Translated into English,
I Ching means the Book of Changes,
And it speaks to the continuing cycle of changes of life,
Be it in nature,
In the human body,
In relationships,
In the cycle of a day,
Or even a lifetime.
When listening to the I Ching language,
We must hear it with an open heart and an intuitive mind.
It may help to first visualize the descriptions and thereafter consider the metaphysical relation.
For example,
The quality of flowing water evokes visuals of a running stream,
And metaphysically we may feel this in the body as we move with fluidity.
We can see this in life as events easily move from one to the next with comfortable conversations dotted along the way.
There are many metaphysical interpretations and there is no right or wrong,
So trust your intuition and let the first internal responses be your guide.
And now let's move into receiving this reading.
If you can take a moment to ground down into your body,
Feeling yourself connecting with the surface beneath you and taking a few deep breaths in and out,
Creating some space between recent thoughts,
Distracting emotions,
Or any other distracting sensations.
Relax into the body and bring about a deeper sense of comfort.
Let's take one more deep breath in,
And as we exhale,
If we can make the statement,
I trust 100% that the information I'm about to receive along with my intuitive response is completely for my highest good.
I trust 100% that the information I'm about to receive along with my intuitive response is completely for my highest good.
Breathe into that,
Exhale,
Let go,
And just relax into the body,
Relaxing the mind as we now receive this hexagram reading from the I Ching for November 24,
And it is number 28,
Ta Kuo,
Meaning exceeding greatness.
In this month's reading,
We see the low trigram of the open yin line followed by two closed yang lines,
Talking about the penetrating sun.
So what is the effect of the sun when deeply penetrating?
It could cause one to wake up from sleep,
And strong sun can also be cleansing.
So when one is awake and cleansed,
Then one's true nature,
One's essence and gifts can emerge and shine.
So here the light is shining on our purpose.
The upper trigram of two solid yang lines followed by an open or broken yin line symbolizes a lake or a large body of water.
Now when looking at a lake,
We may see our own reflection.
Facing ourselves in the center of the lake,
We may find much joy,
Or we may feel like we are drowning.
Take a moment to drop into the first response that comes through for you.
Putting these two primary trigrams together,
We see two nuclear trigrams of the same nature in the center.
These are both of three solid yang lines,
Reflecting the powerful dragon energy of creativity,
Action and abundance.
As the name of this hexagram suggests,
We have the opportunity to exceed greatness.
The operative word here is opportunity.
To see and know the opportunity is key.
Now the opportunity may or may not be easy,
It may even feel threatening,
Especially if we are in the middle of the lake and can't swim.
However,
This time invites us to act boldly and confidently,
With wisdom.
In other words,
Don't react blindly,
Do prepare and respond appropriately to testing situations.
Having a right and proper attitude will move things along in a manner of progress.
The two outer yin lines of this hexagram signals a need to be cautious,
And a need for change.
So if you find this to be a testing time,
Then solitude may be necessary for certain periods.
Solitude affords one to go within,
And such solitary experiences bring about wisdom if we are open to it.
There is a strong indication that we will be called to make a choice.
Putting this all together now,
We see the strength available in the center of the hexagram,
The strength of those yang lines.
So strengthening our center more and more through stillness will provide the wisdom and courage needed to act when necessary in a manner that is purposeful.
Purpose reflected through gifts and talents,
And being mindful moment to moment,
Is referred to in the lower trigram and is a key part of wisdom.
And there are two parts to this.
Living purposefully moment to moment,
And also living in tune with one's personal purpose.
Are you engaging with your gifts every day?
If not,
How can you utilize them more in everyday life?
What small change can you make that will bring your gifts,
Your talents,
More and more alive in your daily life?
When our talents are active in our life,
They will then be able to impact the world around.
One final word about the body of water,
The lake.
If this feels threatening,
Or if you come across fears in the month of November,
Just know that such fears stem from the inner self.
Even if the fear appears external,
Fears are the passageway to greatness,
To knowing one's essence and power.
This has been taught through many ancient spiritual teachings,
One of them being the Tao Te Ching,
And I'd like to share with you now verse 50 from the Tao Te Ching,
Which talks to just that,
The experience of living life from a place of no fear.
It says,
We come out into life and go back into death,
Three out of ten follow along after life,
Three out of ten follow along after death,
And another three out of ten are given life,
But by their activities march off after death.
Listen,
Why should this be?
It is because they are too strongly attached to life.
I've heard it generally said that a man who is good at taking care of his life will travel hill and dale,
But not encounter wild horned buffalos or tigers.
He will enter a battlefield,
But not put on a protective armor.
The wild buffalo finds no place to thrust its horns,
The tiger finds no place to sink its claws,
And soldiers find no place to strike with their blades.
Now listen,
Why is this?
It is because for him,
There is no dangerous place.
Thank you for journeying through this teaching reading for November with me,
And I wish you much wisdom for this month ahead,
While utilizing your purpose and taking good care of your life.
You are invited to come back here to listen a few times more throughout this time,
For the way that we interpret readings at various lunar cycles can be quite different each time.
So until we meet again,
Do take care.
