Welcome,
Dear one,
To this sleep meditation to release your day.
Take a slow breath in and exhale gently.
Feel your body settle as though the earth itself is holding you.
Allow your shoulders to soften,
Your forehead,
Your jaw.
Let your eyes grow heavy.
Begin to lengthen your breath,
Inhaling for 1,
2,
3,
4.
Exhale for 1,
2,
3,
4,
5,
6.
Again,
Inhale for 4 and exhale for 6.
Perhaps silently counting the breath for 8 more rounds.
Inhaling gently for 4 and exhaling completely for 6.
With every exhale,
Imagine the day loosening its grip,
Drifting behind you like mist dissolving at dusk.
Notice your body sinking deeper into your bed.
The support beneath you is steady,
Unwavering.
Each breath invites softness into the jaw,
The throat,
The chest.
Allow your belly to rise and fall like gentle tides returning to shore.
Now imagine a warm,
Timid glow above your head,
A soft nighttime light.
With every inhale,
It becomes brighter.
With every exhale,
It pours down over you,
Melting away the last strands of tension.
Across the forehead,
Down the neck,
Over the shoulders,
Through the arms,
Down the spine,
A slow waterfall of ease.
Let your thoughts drift as if they are falling leaves.
You do not need to chase them.
You do not need to organize or solve anything.
This time is yours.
A sacred unspooling of everything you carry today.
Whisper to yourself,
I release the day.
I soften into rest.
Sense your body becoming heavier,
Warmer,
Quieter.
Your breath now moves at its own natural rhythm,
Unforced,
Unhurried.
Imagine yourself floating on a calm nighttime lake.
Stars reflected in the water like tiny lanterns.
Each star a reminder that you are safe,
Supported,
And allowed to let go.
If any remaining thoughts appear,
Greet them gently.
Tell them,
Not now,
I'm resting.
Watch them drift off toward the horizon.
Your inner world becomes spacious,
Velvety,
Silent.
Your body moves closer and closer to sleep's doorway.
Let the breath become soft,
And softer still.
Feel the blessing of stillness wrapping around you like a warm blanket.
You have arrived at the quiet center of night.
Nothing to do.
Nowhere to be.
Just the tender ease of this moment.
Allow yourself to drift,
To float,
To fall effortlessly into sleep.
May your rest be deep.
May your dreams be gentle and sweet.
May you be at peace.
Thanks for watching!
