Instead of scrolling (social) media, take five mindful minutes to breathe and simply be — even on the toilet. In this short, lighthearted mindfulness break, you’ll discover how presence can happen anywhere, anytime. Perfect for your daily reset, a break at work, stress relief, or a quick digital detox. image: Getty

Welcome to this peaceful session in perhaps a somewhat unconventional setting.

And at the same time isn't this a very familiar place where we naturally come to spaciousness,

To peace and to stillness.

So I want to invite you to take a long deep full inhalation and then as you exhale completely relax your body and let your relaxation bring you more into presence.

You can leave your eyes open or closed but I'd actually invite you to keep them open and enjoy the stillness of the visual field where you are right now.

And whether you have your eyes open or closed,

Simply allow the body and the mind to slow down and rest in the simple presence with yourself,

With your body.

Let your body really feel that slowing down,

That rest,

Letting your face become more relaxed,

Letting your shoulders relax down,

Letting your entire body become soft.

Simply watching the breath wave coming in and out of the body,

Simply enjoying a moment of peace.

I'd like to invite you as the final step of this short mindful break to just do a very general scan of your body and notice if there's any specific body part that you'd like to express gratitude towards.

If that is a feeling or if you just want to say some words to that part,

However it comes to you,

I invite you to connect and be with that sense of gratitude for a few moments.

And then before we round up this meditation I invite you to take one more long deep full inhalation and exhalation.

And I thank you for taking this mindful break with me.

Have a beautiful rest of your day.
