This is the second practice in a series of short meditations recorded for a friend who is a skeptic when it comes to meditation, a beginner to the practice, and someone who is seeking to manage levels of stress in her life after having had a stroke. She asked for a slightly longer meditation after several weeks of working with the 3-minute practice. Perhaps it can be helpful to you as well.

Hello,

I'm so glad you've chosen to practice today.

Begin by becoming more comfortable,

Whatever that means now.

Let your body sink into whatever surface on which you're resting.

Feel the way that your head releases,

Your shoulders release,

The tiny muscles of your face release their holding.

Feeling your back supported and easy.

We are so lucky to have these moments,

This practice.

This practice asks nothing more of us than to be here,

To breathe into the moment we are in,

And to do it as consciously as we can.

So you feel your breath now,

Each breath.

The inhale,

The exhale.

We all lose sight of our breath eventually.

No worries.

Feel it again now.

This moment reminds us,

This is my body.

These are my thoughts.

This is what I'm feeling.

Underneath all of this,

A beating heart,

A constant breath.

While the world changes,

While our bodies,

Thoughts,

And feelings change,

There are some things that remain constant.

Take a deep breath into this and know it to be true.

Thank you for practicing today.

Until the next time.
