Enjoy a slow moment with the food in front of you. With mindful eating, you will be able to truly taste the flavors and feel the textures. This meditation does not have any background music as we want as little distraction as possible. You deserve to enjoy your food and feel the energy that comes from it.

Hi,

Welcome to a mindful eating meditation.

My name is Gabriella and for today I invite you to grab any kind of food that you have prepared.

It can be a snack or it can be a full meal.

Once you have that ready and right in front of you,

Let's take a moment to ground and center ourselves by taking a big deep breath.

Inhaling in.

Exhaling all the way out.

One more time.

Inhale in.

Hold it at the top.

And on your exhale,

Let it out.

Coming back to your natural breath.

You can go ahead now and just look at your food.

Notice what you think it might taste like,

Any anticipated textures,

The true colors that exist within it.

Give yourself some time to curiously observe the food in front of you.

I invite you now,

Depending on what kind of food you have in front of you,

And of course,

With clean hands,

To maybe give it a touch,

Noticing how it feels.

We oftentimes mindlessly consume,

Whether it's social media,

Information,

Or of course,

Food.

I invite you to take a bite of your food,

A smaller bite than you typically would.

And as you take a bite,

I want you to actively try to chew as slowly as possible.

Gently closing your eyes and being with the food.

Go on a journey back to the beginning with this food,

Noticing the journey it had to take to get to where it is now.

If it was an apple,

Let's say,

First it needed to be planted.

Just as a seed by the universe,

Or most likely a farmer,

Then it needed to be picked by another human.

After it was picked,

It needed to be carried back to where it can be distributed.

If you bought it from a store,

The employees of the store needed to stock the apples.

Maybe someone else picked up this apple out of curiosity and put it back down.

Then you came and you picked up the apple and brought it back home.

Didn't see food for its end result without honoring and respecting the journey it had to go on just to be with us.

All the people that made it possible for it to happen,

The connections that it brings us to the world around us.

And now with your next bite,

Bring to mind the texture.

Feeling it with your tongue.

Noticing if it sticks in your teeth.

Is it rough,

Soft?

How does it feel?

And then with your next bite,

Noticing the flavors,

The loud flavors,

And the subtle and soft flavors that you almost need to look for,

But are still very much there.

Maybe there's some sweetness,

Saltiness,

Tanginess.

What do you taste truly?

And for the next bite,

Bring the food up to your nose and smell it.

Breathing in the aromas.

And then as you begin to chew,

Notice the energy of the food.

Does it feel like it has high vibration to it?

Less processed,

Maybe?

More fueling for the body?

And do this without judgment,

Accepting,

And observing.

It's a privilege to be able to taste the food that you consume.

You are just honoring the privilege that you have.

You are honoring the people that supported this food,

Getting to you.

You're honoring the natural process of the universe.

Continue on eating your meal this way.

Enjoying the different flavors.

Chewing slowly and mindfully.

Not being in a rush,

But just being here.

Return back to this practice when you feel yourself in a rush,

And like you want to slow down and enjoy the gifts in front of you.
