This meditation is based on a Daoist inspired meditation and I'm sharing it with you because it's a really good way to access your highest self.

So make sure that you're comfortable,

That you won't be disturbed.

Come to rest either in the seated position or lying down.

To close your eyes and just start to bring your senses inwards towards your breathing.

Just allow yourself to breathe in deeply and breathe out deeply.

Notice whether there's anywhere that you're holding any tension.

Just mentally send your breath to that area to gently encourage it to relax.

Just allow your face to soften.

Allow your jaw to relax.

Let your belly be relaxed.

Allow your arms and your legs to really let go.

Just keep breathing deeply.

Just allowing your breath to take your body into that lovely space of restoration and nourishment.

I'd like you to bring your attention to the top of your head and then to the back of your head.

Just start to imagine that the whole skull,

Your cranium,

Is like a big cave.

The eye sockets represent the front of the cave,

The mouth of the cave,

And the back of your head represents the back of the cave.

Just behind your eyes is a beautiful butterfly-like bone called the ethmoid bone.

Resting your attention just behind your eyes for a moment.

Just imagine that there's a very small version of you just sitting resting on top of the ethmoid bone,

Which is often regarded as being the seat of the soul.

Now start to imagine the small version of you having honoured the seat of the soul,

Coming backwards now.

Imagine to the back of the cave of your head.

Imagining that the back of the cave is very warm and inviting,

Very safe.

There's lots of beautiful cushions and blankets and a warm glow from a wonderful lantern.

Sitting up against the cushions,

You start to slowly retreat and bring your senses away from the outside world,

Where we're always reaching out,

Looking forwards,

Being pulled by things outside us.

You're coming back,

Retreating right to the back of your head,

Back to the cave,

Where you can safely observe things passing you by.

Imagining that through the eye sockets you can just see the clouds passing by.

You have no wish to get involved with anything in the outside world.

You're content,

Deeply rested in the back of your cave.

Listening to your breath,

Start to become aware that you can move a little bit further back,

Right into the very backbone of your skull.

And have a sense that you can move further back,

Starting to melt into the tissues that form the back of your head.

Reaching into the skin at the back of your head and the back of your neck and the back of your back.

So almost as though there's a bigger version of you just sitting,

Resting deeply on the wall of the very back of your back.

Notice that as you become aware of the back of your body,

Your sense of your skin boundary starts to disappear.

And you start to feel as though your boundary has shifted to a much bigger place,

A few inches behind your physical body.

So let yourself be taken safely to this place.

And you may become aware now that you feel really quite big.

Just stay with your attention,

Focusing on your breathing,

Resting in this bigger place.

Noticing how calm you feel,

Noticing how big you feel,

Having a sense that you're actually quite powerful and quite energised and that you're suddenly tapping into a higher energy,

Much greater energy than your physical body.

And that's because you're tapping into the energy of your higher self.

From the perspective of your highest self,

Ask that when you come back to your day,

You'll be given a gift,

Either in the form of something that pops into your head or something that you visualise,

Something that you remember.

Know that when this thing comes,

You will recognise it as a gift from your highest self.

Know that whenever you need to access any other gifts,

You gain perspective on anything you can revisit this meditation and come back to a sense of this greater energy,

Your amazing higher self.

But for now,

Start to make your way back into your physical body.

First,

Becoming aware of the skin layer around your body,

Really dropping your senses into an awareness of your skin,

Almost as though you're shrinking your eyes back into your physical body.

Now coming to an awareness of the muscles underneath the skin.

Imagining that you're just coming through inwards so that now you are really aware of the bone,

Your skeleton.

Coming into the dense energy of your bone is a really good way to ground you.

Bring a deep breath in and a deep breath out.

When you feel ready,

Start to introduce small movements and softly,

In your own time,

Open your eyes to return to your day.
