Turbulent times can amplify difficult emotions like anxiety. To regain a sense of peace, it can be helpful to gently and carefully tune into any disturbances and give them an opportunity to release. By taking the time to connect with your body while relaxing your mind, you can nurture your capacity to find balance and peace during turbulent times. This meditation features some guidance followed by soothing sounds of gongs and other healing instruments. Listen with headphones while lying down.

Go ahead and lie down,

Close your eyes,

And let the weight of your body sink into the surface beneath you.

Feeling really heavy and really supported,

Really held by that surface.

Then tuning into the space around you,

Noticing anything you might smell,

Noticing the temperature of the air,

Noticing anything you might hear beyond my voice.

And now bringing your awareness inwards,

Taking a moment here to check in with yourself,

Noticing how you're feeling.

And now bring your awareness to an area of your life where you'd like to create a shift,

You'd like to create a change.

Just digging up something maybe related to work or relationships,

Places,

Habits,

Can be anything at all.

Just something that has the most potency for you right now,

Or perhaps where there is the most resistance for you right now in your life.

Once you have that in mind,

Go to the feeling behind that resistance,

Behind that disturbance.

Tuning into whether it's a sense of anger,

Grief,

Sadness,

Disconnection,

Label that emotion and then go to where it feels most potent in your body.

Noticing if there's maybe a heaviness in the heart or feeling in the stomach or in the jaw or in the hands.

Just holding however this emotion,

This feeling manifests in your body,

In your awareness without passing any judgment.

And now start to breathe acceptance into this emotion and into the place where you're feeling it the most in your body.

By holding it in your awareness,

Accepting it and noticing how the feeling comes and goes in waves.

Perhaps it gets more intense when you focus intently on it and then as the mind starts to wander,

The emotion starts to dissipate.

And we'll spend the remainder of this meditation cycling through those waves.

You might find that the feeling starts to intensify at certain moments.

And then the more you accept it and the more you breathe into it,

Its strength starts to loosen and you start to create new pathways,

New openings,

The opportunity to invite in positivity and healing energy.

So coming back once again to your breath,

Coming back once again to the part of the body where you're feeling this emotion the most.

Taking a really deep breath in and letting go.
