Solutions - Life, Lessons, & Laughter LIVE - 8-30-21
Solution is the topic of discussion. We must focus on the solutions instead of the problems if we expect to live a happy existence. We dive into this deeply in this LIVE episode of Life, Lessons, & Laughter with Glenn Ambrose
Transcript
Welcome to Life,
Lessons,
And Laughter with your host,
Glenn Andros.
Live from New York,
It's Saturday night.
No,
No,
It's not.
So here we are everybody.
This is a very impromptu show,
Even though I knew it was coming.
Because,
You know,
Since I'm having guests on now,
I put a little note on Tuesdays to remind myself to get a guest.
And I kept moving that notice day to day to day and I just wasn't motivated to ask anybody to be on this week.
And,
Oh,
Hey,
There we go.
Now we're getting some people.
I always love when you guys say hello.
And Laura's practicing her Spanish.
I actually know what Ola means now.
And Louise,
Thank you for joining us.
So,
So yeah,
So last week it was,
I'm going to give you guys a little glimpse into what my last week has been like.
So Monday night,
I went to bed.
Everything was cool.
I woke up,
I don't know,
One,
Two o'clock in the morning and I was like,
Wow,
I think I'm getting a cold.
And I have I can't remember the last time I had a cold.
So Tuesday I went and took care of some stuff and came right home and chilled.
And Wednesday and Thursday,
I had fairly,
I guess,
Fairly strong cold symptoms.
I mean,
It's just a cold.
So it really wasn't that bad,
You know.
But I rested a lot and stuff and took care of myself.
And then Friday I was feeling quite a bit better.
And Saturday,
Friday,
It started and I started really feeling like these releasements first.
A lot of releasing was happening.
And Faith is over releasing now.
She's shaking stuff off.
So I was noticing these releasements and I was,
You know,
I could just feel stuff just letting go.
Like a lot of times when I'm releasing energies,
I don't know what they're from,
Nor do I really care.
I mean,
It doesn't really matter what they're from.
If there's,
You know,
Every once in a while I'll ask if is there a lesson I need to learn here?
And if there is,
I'll get some information on what the energy is about.
But usually it's just a matter of releasing energy for me.
I mean,
A lot of the spiritual lessons that I need to learn,
I've learned.
So a lot of it is just releasing energy that might be stuffed down or attached to it.
And really clearing my way energetically to live the truth that I'm already intellectually in.
So these releasings were occurring.
And then I would drop into these meditations and just get still and it would feel like I was receiving like downloads.
And again,
I wasn't getting any clear information,
But it just felt like I was releasing stuff and new stuff was coming in.
Anyway,
It was really interesting.
So there's,
You know,
I'm not going to go too in depth into that because there's not a heck of a lot I can say about it.
You know,
I just kind of told you what happened.
So I went through this and that started Friday,
Saturday,
It was even more.
Yesterday as well.
Today,
This morning,
Still some releasing.
But it's been really cool.
I've been really anchoring into these,
This loving feeling,
This more,
It's hard to describe,
More of a contented.
But it's more of a deeply contented feeling that I'm anchoring into because I was feeling content before.
But then this,
When I tuned into it,
It was still a feeling of contentment,
But somehow it felt like it was anchored in deeper.
So that's kind of where I am and what I've been through over these last days.
And I think that that's what's been going on.
So this is why I think it really wasn't a concern to find somebody to be on this podcast.
And I think that the way this podcast goes,
It's a perfect week to just allow it to flow.
So,
You know,
Literally a minute before we went live,
You know,
We're getting this thing set up and Ben was like,
Oh,
What's the topic of the podcast?
What's the name of it?
I'm like,
I don't know.
So I came up with solutions because I think that is where I'm going to keep trying to land in,
Is the solutions.
So and then I was like,
OK,
You know,
Like,
What am I going to talk about?
And I kind of started thinking about some of the things that were going through my mind this last week,
Other than what I just mentioned that I had experienced.
And some of the stuff that was going through my mind was some of the stuff that's going on in the world,
Of course.
You know,
And it's I've been seeing I've been gaining clarity on my stance on things in a very calm way.
And of course,
The where we land,
The calmer we get where we land is in the solution.
So the solution is is,
You know,
Where where I'm going to end up,
Hopefully very,
Very quickly.
But but to have a solution,
We have to discuss the problem to some degree.
So I'm going to discuss,
You know,
I don't I might discuss multiple problems on loan.
We're just going to see where this goes.
So one of the problems I'm seeing,
Of course,
The one of the big things,
Topics right now is vaccines.
So,
You know,
And I've been saying for a year.
Well,
Yeah,
For years now,
With all the stuff that's going on,
We have to stop arguing.
We have to stop arguing,
You know,
And that's part of the solution.
And,
You know,
I don't know if this is going to help anybody have clarity or not.
The people that are that see things differently than the way I see things,
They might just,
You know,
Push whatever I say aside.
Well,
I don't want to say that way,
Not push what I have to say aside,
They might just choose that.
What I'm saying is not really important to them when they're making their decisions.
And this is what I think we have to understand is that we this is where we all get to choose.
This is where our perspectives all come in,
Is there is a bunch of information out there.
And we get to choose as people what information we take in and what is more important than other pieces of information.
So what I'm seeing with the vaccine is that,
You know,
Like as sometimes when people argue or have difficult conversations,
I've actually seen some a little less arguing.
Maybe it's just my feed and less arguing and a little bit more communication around this topic,
Which is really hopeful.
And what I've been seeing is,
You know,
Of course,
The media and the way things are fed and the way people are pushed because the powers that be,
The government,
Big pharmacy,
Stuff like that.
It's obvious what they want you to do.
They want you to take the vaccine.
Right.
I mean,
That's obvious.
So the information that is being pushed,
The way they're pushing that morally is saying that you will get the vaccine if you're a loving,
Caring person and you care about the world as a whole.
And if you don't get the vaccine,
Then you're not a loving,
Caring person and you're selfish,
Which is not true.
But that's that's one of the angles that they're pushing this.
So what I you know,
Which,
Of course,
Becomes a moral issue,
Which gets people arguing,
Which,
You know,
Self-righteousness comes in,
All this stuff.
So so I wanted to discuss that a little bit just because.
I was looking at a post and somebody had done like I had done a bunch of research on the vaccine because I had heard that the vaccine wasn't working.
So I was like,
Oh,
My God,
The vaccine's not working well.
You know,
Now people will stop saying get the vaccine.
And they didn't stop.
They were like people were like,
I got the vaccine.
I got sick.
I can still spread it.
And I'm really happy I got the vaccine.
And I'm like,
I don't understand what what's going on.
I don't I don't know why they're saying,
You know,
So I looked into it and I studied it.
So what I found was that they're saying that.
Yes,
You can still pass it and yes,
You can still get it,
But it's not that common that the vaccine actually is mostly working.
So it's it is even though that is happening sometimes,
It's so good I get to get it.
I was like,
Oh,
OK.
And they had all a bunch of stats and all this stuff.
And I wasn't I mean,
I looked at all the stats and all this stuff to get a vague idea of what that side was saying.
And I was like,
Oh,
OK.
So somebody had had cited all this stuff and said,
So,
You know,
These are the facts like you.
The vaccine is.
Still effective and it is the way to go,
And this is why you need to get it.
And if you don't,
You're selfish and blah,
Blah,
Blah.
So they stayed their side.
And I was like.
So when I looked at their statement,
What I realized was the difference is not like a lot of people think that people who are against the vaccine are uneducated.
That like they don't they don't know.
They didn't read the same things that the pro vaccine or people have read.
So the pro vaccine,
A lot of pro vaccine people are like,
No,
We research this.
We read it.
We found all the statistics and stuff.
So it says that it works.
So it obviously works.
So you need to do this.
And the disconnect there is that they didn't consider the source.
And that is the problem that a lot of people that I know have with the vaccine.
Like they a lot of people I know that don't want the vaccine are very educated with with what the government and the CDC and these are big pharmacy and these organizations are saying about the vaccine.
They're very clear.
They're very educated about what they say.
The problem is,
Is they don't believe the source.
Okay.
Now,
This is where it comes.
I think it's I don't know.
To me,
It felt like it was easier to come to a personal choice when you understand that.
Like,
It's not about somebody being educated or not being educated or somebody being selfish or not being selfish.
What it comes down to from what I'm saying is that some people say what the government says and big pharmacy says,
The people who are in charge that are promoting this vaccine,
What they say is fact.
And the people who are against getting vaccinated are going,
No,
That's not fact because we have proof that actually are facts that the government and big pharmacy and all these people have lied to us over and over and over again.
They've paid billions of dollars in fines for lying to us,
For misrepresenting what their medicines do,
For hiding studies that show that they're damaging,
For everything that we're fearful of.
They've already done it and they've been found guilty and they paid billions of dollars of fines for it.
So this isn't like,
Oh,
You know,
Like I just don't feel like listening to science.
No,
It's these organizations,
The government and the people who are making this vaccine and making trillions of dollars off of it have lied to us for less.
They've lied to us to make less money.
They have lied to us to gain less control and power over us.
They have done it multiple times over and over and over and over.
And like this is,
You know,
This is something that I believe it was Maya Angelou taught.
When somebody shows you who they are,
Believe them.
The government has shown us over and over and over and over and over again that they don't care about our well-being and that they will lie to us and hurt its own citizens in order to get more money,
Get more power,
Etc.
They've done this.
They've shown it.
They've proven themselves to do that time and time again.
And so have these companies that are putting out the facts.
So it's just a matter of people who don't want the vaccine have found this stuff out.
And it's like,
Well,
You know,
A lot of I've been seeing like,
Oh,
Well,
You know,
We got measles and polio vaccine years ago.
Yes.
And there was problems with some of that stuff.
And we didn't have the information age that we do now.
And these companies and the government hadn't done to us what they've done to us by now.
So times have changed.
We're learning from history.
You know,
We're learning from this.
So I'm not saying that's to convince you that you need to think of these organizations,
The government or the CDC or the WHO or the big pharmacy.
I'm not saying that you should think of them as liars.
It's your choice.
I mean,
You can think of them as whatever you want.
If you think that they provide truth,
Then fine.
You know,
Believe that they provide truth.
But I'm hoping that this is going to clarify a little bit and maybe,
You know,
Come to a middle ground where because I believe the solution is us not arguing.
That's why this is called solution,
Because I don't want to argue with people.
Well,
And I know we will,
But I want to minimize the arguing.
So I want us to meet.
I want us to go,
Oh,
OK,
So it's not a matter of them being selfish.
It's not a matter of them being uneducated.
It's just a matter that they have chosen to believe the actual evidence that is out there that that says that these organizations,
These institutions can't be trusted.
They've decided that they should believe that evidence that is out there.
And then other people have decided to not believe that evidence,
Which is their right,
Which is fine.
But that's what it's about.
So if you don't want to pay attention to the the to history and to the ways that these the government and these organizations have been shown to be dishonest,
If you don't want to pay attention to that and you want to believe that they are telling you the truth,
Then by all means,
Believe that they are telling the truth.
And that's fine.
But it is not.
But it's not a lack of intelligence or some mean selfishness that they just believe that the people who are in charge of this are not to be trusted.
And they have really good reason.
Like,
Really good reason to believe that,
Because there's mountains of evidence against it.
And if you don't know about this evidence,
Research it.
I mean,
You know,
The people are all the people that want you to get a vaccination are all it's science.
It's fact.
OK,
Then then you should be the ones that can study.
Right.
You should be the ones that can research this stuff.
So research it.
How's the government lied?
I mean,
You know,
Start back.
Just just go back as far as like Vietnam.
Start there and work your way forward.
It's countless.
You'll get the point.
Probably studying two years of history in starting in the 60s.
I mean,
And it's current all the way through.
So and study the research,
These companies and that are putting research,
Pfizer and how many times how many billions of dollars it's been fined for for giving misinformation.
You know,
Do the research,
You know,
And make your own conclusion again.
I it's I know it sounds like I'm.
I'm just saying my viewpoint and I don't care.
I don't care what your viewpoint is.
And it's not because I don't care about you.
It's because I don't I understand that we are not all meant to agree.
This is an illusion.
We are not.
If if you're let me put it this way.
If your solution to anything.
Covid racism,
Sexism,
Poverty.
If your solution is based on everybody on the planet agreeing.
You're going to have to stop from scratch because it's a crappy solution because it's never going to happen.
It's never going to happen.
People are not all going to agree.
We're not supposed to agree.
We are individuals for a reason.
So understand it's OK to be an individual.
You're supposed to be an individual.
We're supposed to take different bits of information and say,
Oh,
This is more important than this piece of information.
This is more important than this information.
And we're supposed to put our puzzles together and look at things differently.
This is why we are an asset when we come together.
If we all looked at things the same way,
We would be useless to each other.
Half the people on the planet could just die tomorrow because there'd be no purpose of them being on the planet.
90 percent of people could die tomorrow because there's no purpose.
Like the purpose of having so many people on the planet,
The purpose of us wanting to connect with others,
That innate desire for connection is because we are capable of doing more things,
Capable of doing more things together than we are separate.
Why?
Well,
Because our brains work differently.
So we can come at something from this perspective and this perspective and this perspective and find the best one and then do something that works for some of them.
Not all of them.
Some people are going to be over here going,
I don't like the conclusion you guys came to.
That's OK.
It's all right.
You know,
We have to make room for comparing narratives.
That's a line that I heard Eckhart Tolle say probably 15 years ago about,
And I believe he was quoting some journalists about the Middle East.
And he used it as an example.
And this journalist about the Middle East said that all the turmoil and the fighting in the Middle East for the last 200 years can be boiled down to one thing.
The inability to to make room for a comparing narrative.
The inability to make room for a comparing narrative.
We cannot.
This is what causes conflict when we are unable to make space to make room for somebody that thinks other ways to make room for comparing narratives and live amongst each other.
You know,
This is one of the beauties that I'm getting living up here in the mountains of the D.
R.
Because I'm living in a little spiritual community.
And I have to learn how to make room for comparing narratives.
And it's expanding me and I love it.
This is,
You know,
I know that there's a fair amount of people that listen to me that are had their spiritual foundation and recovery.
And it's like I heard this many years ago when I was when I was first starting out in recovery,
I was learning a lot about program,
About principles and everything about the program.
And they said that when they formed AA,
They they set a rule and I don't know if I'm going to get this 100 percent correct,
But you'll get the point that they set a rule where.
Like they had to have like a 75 percent agreement to change anything in the big book.
And the big book is the the foundation of the program.
So they had to have like a 75 percent agreement to change anything in it.
And the reason they did that was because they knew that they were never going to get 75 percent of anybody to agree on changing anything,
Let alone alcoholics.
So they're like,
There's no way you're going to get 75 percent of the people to agree to change anything.
So it'll stay the same.
And to this day,
It has the first was a 164 pages that lays out the program,
Not the stories in the back,
But the first one,
64 that lays out the program of AA has never been changed.
They added a couple of appendices at the end to expand on a couple of things,
But only like two of them or something,
I think.
So they have they haven't changed it.
And AA is actually a really good example.
You want to study a society study AA.
There's there's been many studies done on it.
And the reason is,
Is because somehow it has been going since 1939 with the least possible organization.
There is no money to be made in AA and there is no power to be gained in AA.
You can't gain it.
There's no structure in order for somebody to come out with power.
There's no structure for anybody to come out making money.
That's why that it's that it's it's an anomaly that that this is why it studied is because it's anomaly where it's a society that has lasted so long with literally millions and millions and millions and millions of members globally.
And it hasn't imploded yet.
And it has very little organization.
Why?
Because there's no power and there's no money to be had.
So there's no fighting.
There's no ego.
There's no greed.
I mean,
Of course there is.
But I mean,
It doesn't you can't win anything.
You know,
You can't it can't get anywhere.
Nobody can win an argument and then be more powerful than somebody else.
Nobody can lobby for something,
Get it and then all of a sudden be rich.
Like you can't.
There is no structure like that.
So this is I think what we this is the solution that I'm talking about.
This is where we need to get to.
We need to get to the place where we understand.
I mean,
We disconnect for a minute,
Disconnect from the issues that are going on.
I mean,
The way we talk to each other is like like I mean,
Think about when you were a kid,
You know,
And like like I grew up in a small town.
You know,
Everybody knew everybody.
I mean,
There were there were a few people in town that were almost like I don't know how to explain it.
So like they had some deep seated stuff,
Man.
Like you could tell by their energy.
They were vicious.
They were mean and they were messed up.
And like there was a few people in town like that,
But there are very few and far between.
Most of the town,
The whole town,
The whole city,
Like got along for the most part.
You know,
And we had scraps and people fought and then you became friends or you hung out later or you worked through it.
It was like as a community,
Especially like when I was there,
Like when I was there,
I graduated high school in the class of 86 and we had a big class and most people got along and we got along with a lot of other classes.
We had huge parties,
Man.
It was a blast.
And then we'd go to the local beach and we all hung out.
Like,
Think about that type of stuff like high school and like,
Sure,
There were clicks and stuff.
But like,
And I know maybe this isn't the best example.
I'm just because I know people had different experiences growing up and I mean,
Trust me,
Mine wasn't all perfect either.
I'm trying to,
I'm just trying to find an overall perspective where we weren't so jaded.
Like,
You know,
When you used to talk to your neighbors and stuff,
Like even if you didn't hang out with them,
Even if you didn't like them,
You didn't think they were evil or selfish jerks.
Like now it's like if you don't agree on something,
You're a selfish jerk.
When did that happen?
Like we need to calm down a little bit.
That's ridiculous.
I mean,
Your neighbors are not jerks.
We put trust in a government that has fucked us over every which way it can find a way and lied to us consistently,
But we don't trust our neighbors.
I mean,
We got a flip-flop doubt,
Man.
Continue trusting your government if you want,
But I mean,
Lighten up on your freaking neighbors.
You know,
They're not evil.
There is not,
Half of the world didn't suddenly become evil or whatever.
You know,
We'll use the example that I was talking about earlier.
Like if there's,
You know,
20% of the population that is against vaccines,
They're not like the selfish jerks.
They've just come to different conclusions.
It's okay,
Man.
You know,
It's all right.
You got to disconnect from this idea that we all have to come together and we're all going to agree and like this utopian bullshit.
Like,
You know,
Oh my God,
My God,
You know what pisses me off?
You know what pisses me off is all these people running around acting like they're loving people,
Putting down and just character assassinating other people.
Going,
Why can't we just love one another?
I'm a loving person.
I'll get the vaccine.
I'll save the world.
And you're fucking Satan.
Like what is wrong with you?
Like that's love to you?
That's love.
That's not love.
Don't preach love when you act in hate.
Don't preach love when you talk in hate.
Don't do it because that's hypocritical bullshit.
If you want to be loved,
Be loved.
You know what love is?
It's unconditional.
That's what actual,
Anybody can love conditionally.
You do what I say,
I'll love you.
That's not love.
Unconditional love is the foundation.
This is why it's the solution is because it's a foundational principle in which our reality was formed.
Every religion,
Every spiritual belief system has some sort of explanation of what we call free will.
Okay,
We're given free will as humanity to make our own choices.
Why?
Why were we given free will?
Why can we,
Why is God sitting up there letting all these people argue and fight and kill each other and addicts and alcoholics running all over the place,
Dying,
Destroying families,
Sexual predators all over the,
Why is God sitting on his ass not doing anything?
You want to know why?
Because as soon as he does,
He breaks the foundational impulse,
The foundational law that this world was created in and that is unconditional love.
We are loved unconditionally.
We are accepted unconditionally by God.
So what that means is that as soon as God comes in and says,
Oh,
These,
These humans don't really have a big perspective,
They're making bad choices,
They're hurting one another.
I'm going to come in here and I'm going to make things better and it takes little Glenn.
And it takes little bobblehead Glenn,
Right?
And it goes,
Glenn's being a meathead.
He would do better if he was doing other stuff.
So I'm going to take little Glenn and I'm going to move them over here where he does different things.
Like he,
You know,
He starts talking about other stuff and he does better things.
As soon as God does that,
That's control.
That's manipulation.
That's,
I know better than Glenn and I'm going to make him do what I want him to do.
That's not love.
That's not unconditional love.
That's control.
That's manipulation.
It's a completely different energy.
That's why he doesn't do it.
It's a foundational law of the entire universe.
And this is what we have to understand.
And we have to start living in accordance.
You want to know why we've had all these problems in the last 10,
000 years is because we're not living in accordance with nature's laws.
And this is one of them.
You know,
There's many of them.
We don't live sustainably.
Anything that is not sustainable is against nature's law.
And for some reason,
When,
You know,
Years ago,
Thousands of years ago,
When we started being ego-based,
We decided we were better than nature and we can do whatever we wanted.
And that was the beginning of the end.
And this is,
We're getting close to the end.
So what's happening is we're living not in unconditional love.
We're not living in acceptance of one another.
We are living where we're conflicting one another and we're fighting against one another.
And we're saying,
I only love you if you do what I say.
I only like you if you do what I say.
I will not accept anything.
I will put you down.
I will character assassinate you.
I will judge you.
I will just,
I mean,
It's just vicious what we're doing to one another.
And then they,
It's,
People have the audacity to say it's in the name of love.
It's not in the name of love.
It's not.
And if you think it is,
You don't know what love is.
Fact.
Oh,
Let's see.
Some of these comments.
I have to get that out.
Ingrid.
Hi Ingrid.
Love the neighbors,
But they don't like each other.
Yeah.
But I mean,
Even now,
Like,
Like,
Like we,
I didn't like all my neighbors growing up.
I mean,
But like,
I didn't think they were Satan.
You know,
I wasn't around,
Running around like just,
You know,
We have social media here.
It's,
It's a nice safe,
It's a nice safe place to character assassinate everybody.
And we don't actually have any repercussions.
You know,
It's like that we're too far removed from,
From any repercussions from our actions on social media.
It's like in my town,
I remember,
You know,
My town,
It was a rough town.
There was a lot of fighting growing up.
And I remember,
Like,
Like there was when I was young,
I was,
You know,
Alcoholic,
Messed up,
Fought a lot and all this stuff.
And I remember there was a couple times when,
When somebody gave me some crap and I was like,
I was over 18.
So I identified as an adult male.
And like I had these adult males,
Like on the phone or something,
Or even in person sometimes,
Like start,
Like older people start harassing me,
Like really putting me down and saying rude shit.
And I remember there was this one time it just came out of my mouth.
And I think I said it a couple other times after that,
I was like,
What are you,
What are you doing here?
Like you're verbally assaulting me.
Like I'm an adult male.
You're an adult male.
What are you thinking?
To verbally assault me.
Don't you understand that there's repercussions for that?
Like,
You can't just verbally assault me.
I'll just physically assault you.
So watch what you're saying,
Because there's going to be a,
There's going to be a reaction coming.
You know,
And it's like when we're face to face with one another,
Like we'd be a little bit more cautious shooting our mouths off.
Maybe because of that,
You know,
Hopefully,
You know,
By no means do,
Did I think that that was an intelligent thing to say.
All I'm saying is that we don't,
We are a lot more loose lipped and a lot easier to character assassinate other people that don't think like us on social media because they're not in front of us.
And they're not scared of anything.
And there's no repercussions for our actions.
So we get,
What do we get to do?
We get to treat other people poorly and character assassinate them without really facing any,
Any repercussions,
Which I'm not saying that we should get repercussions for character assassinating.
I'm saying what we should do is take responsibility for our actions and understand that we're not acting in a loving way.
Which again comes down to the solution.
It's always love.
The solution is love with everything.
And this is what we need to be like if it doesn't matter.
I don't give a crap who gets the vaccine.
I don't give a crap who doesn't get the vaccine.
I don't care who thinks they should listen to the government.
I don't care who doesn't think they should listen to the government.
Of course I have my opinions.
I have a right to my opinions.
I have a brain.
I'm a human being.
I can't have my own opinions.
Yes,
I can.
And I can stand in them and I can live by them and I will.
But that doesn't mean I have to act unloving to people.
It doesn't mean I have to attack them.
It doesn't mean that I have to take a stance and say my side's right and your side's wrong.
No,
There is no right or wrong.
There's whatever you feel like going with.
If you want to go with a particular avenue of information,
Then go with it.
If I want to go with a different one,
Then I'll go with it.
But it's just our freedom of choice as human beings.
And nobody has the right to tell us how we're supposed to think or what we need to do.
So we have to get back to respecting one another.
That's all.
It's just loving one another.
It doesn't matter what the topic is.
If we just stop,
You know,
Somebody said one of my friends years ago,
And this might have been when Trump was running for president.
The first time or it might have been the second time,
I don't know,
But we're sitting around hanging out and I was bored.
And I was like,
So,
So what do you think about the political stuff going on?
And he was like,
I don't discuss that.
I was like,
Oh,
All right,
It's probably a good move.
And I flashed back to when I was growing up.
That's how it was like who you voted for.
You didn't walk around having discussions about that.
You didn't talk about that.
That was the whole point of having them privacy frickin screens in the voting booth and stuff like like it was supposed to be private.
And it was supposed to be your business and you're supposed to vote your conscience.
And you weren't supposed to discuss it with other people.
Nobody did.
You know,
It wasn't.
Well,
I shouldn't say nobody.
A lot of people didn't.
And if you asked people,
They're like,
What?
You know,
Why are you prying into my business?
That's my business.
And I think we need to get back to that.
You know,
It's nobody's business who you vote for.
It's nobody's business whether you get a vaccine or whether you don't get a vaccine.
You don't have to put it on social media saying I'm for so vaccines.
I'm against vaccines.
I don't give a shit.
I don't care.
Are you loving?
I care about that.
Can you treat me with respect?
Can we have conversations?
Can we get along regardless of what we think about a particular topic?
Those are the people that I want in my life.
People come into my life and they're like,
You have to think the way I think or else I'm not going to hang out with you.
Fuck you.
There's the door.
How's that for a start?
I'm not interested in hanging out with you.
Not interested in having a conversation with you.
Let's just,
You know,
Get back to that to that place where we respect each other for as human beings and we mind our own business to some degree.
You know,
I mean,
We don't have to change everybody.
What we have to do is we have to be loving to one another.
That's what's going to get us out of this.
I mean,
Jesus,
Pick your poison here.
I mean,
You know,
A pandemic is one thing.
Then we've got the political stuff aside from the pandemic and we've got Afghanistan.
It's like,
I mean,
Like when I scroll through the feeds on social media,
It's so obvious to me because it's like Biden moron for doing this.
Trump got us into this in the first place.
No,
Obama started it.
No,
George W.
Bush did.
It doesn't matter,
Man.
Like you can get whatever you want to believe,
You can find evidence to back it.
And anybody that goes,
Anybody that says it's Biden's fault,
They go,
Wow,
What the hell?
That doesn't make any sense.
It was going on before he got there.
Now they're blaming it on him.
That doesn't make sense.
Well,
No,
It doesn't make sense to you because you're trying not to blame it on him.
If they're trying to blame it on him,
Of course it's going to make sense.
This is what we need to understand.
Whatever you look for,
You will find.
This is what our brain does.
This is why,
Like I did a podcast on changing,
I forgot the name of it,
But suddenly changing your goals or change your goals,
Change your life or something,
Because this is how your brain works.
When I was driving home,
And I'll try,
Most of you probably heard this before,
But I was driving home after I had been in a DR for a couple of months and I was in Florida and I'm driving home and I was getting irritated by traffic.
And I was like,
Wait a minute,
I'm not going to allow myself to get irritated by traffic.
Why am I irritated?
And I realized my goal was to get from point A to point B as fast as humanly possible and efficiently as humanly possible.
And therefore,
If that was my goal,
Anything that impeded that,
My brain would deem as bad.
If somebody cut me off,
That would slow me down.
Oh,
That's bad.
So my brain would judge it as bad.
And then,
So therefore I would judge it as bad and I would get upset.
So I realized that anything that impeded me getting from point A to point B as quickly and efficiently as humanly possible was going to irritate me.
So I was like,
Okay,
Well,
What if I come up with a different goal?
Well,
My goal is not to get from A to B as quickly and as efficiently as possible.
My goal is to drive from A to B in a state of peace.
That's my goal.
So I became,
I mentally said,
This is my goal.
This is my goal and this drive to get from A to B as peacefully as possible.
And I started driving and I noticed that things were happening to me,
Like getting cut off and stuff and traffic backing up and all this stuff was happening.
And I wasn't getting irritated.
What my brain was doing was it was looking for what I told it to look for.
And that was peace.
So instead of it deeming it as a negative thing,
I got cut off and it was like,
My brain was like,
Hey,
Yeah,
You got cut off,
But hey,
It's no big deal.
They didn't,
You saw it in time.
You were able to hit the brakes so you didn't get into an accident.
That's a good thing.
And oh,
It's backing up.
Well,
Yeah,
But look,
There's another lane that's a little bit more open.
You can get into there.
So why don't you go down that lane for a bit?
Like it was always looking to keep me at peace because that's what my goal was.
So that's what my brain looked for.
This is how our brain works in everything.
So when this is why,
When you're out there and you're looking for a reason to blame Biden,
You're going to find it.
If you're looking for a reason to blame Trump,
You'll find it.
If you're looking for a reason to blame history or Democrats or Republicans or no matter what you're looking for,
You are going to find evidence to back it.
Why?
Because that's what you're looking for.
That's what your brain looks for.
And that's what it finds.
So we have to start understanding that this is don't take it as like fact.
Every time we come across a fact that backs up what we want to see,
We think that we would now we proved it.
Well,
It was right there.
I've got the evidence right here.
Who gives a shit?
Somebody else looking for something else has the evidence to back them.
We haven't figured this out yet.
I mean,
This is the point.
Like you,
You can find evidence to back whatever you want to say.
You can tweak studies.
You can.
And I'm not talking about like like only vaccine stuff.
I'm talking about like any study in the world.
I have this friend of mine back in Rhode Island,
Tim.
We had a wonderful discussion about this many years ago that I still remember because he's like a statistician.
So so he's very good at researching things.
And he started researching things.
Probably this was probably like five years ago or something,
Six years ago,
Maybe.
And a lot of dysfunction was bubbling up.
And he started researching it.
And he was like,
You can make a study.
Say anything you want.
Absolutely anything.
And like because all you got to do is just change the angle that you come at it slightly.
And it's true.
You can.
And this is,
You know,
Like I'm talking.
They did it with addiction.
You know,
Like they study it.
They study a mouse and they put drugs and water into a cage for a mouse.
And the mouse starts tasting the drug,
Starts getting addicted to the drug and then stops drinking the water and keeps taking the drug until it dies.
And they go,
Well,
OK,
There we go.
So this substance is addictive.
And if it's given to somebody,
They will get get addicted to it eventually.
And then once they are,
They can't stop themselves.
They'll just do it until they die.
And then years and then later,
Somebody else comes along and goes,
Well,
Wait a minute.
That is kind of a lot of holes in that study.
And the whole basis for addiction is based on that.
Like,
What about its environment?
It was a mouse alone in a cage.
That doesn't sound like a very good environment.
So what he did is he created this whole mouse world like freakin Disney World for mice with a bunch of mice families in there and a bunch of communities in there and a bunch of exercise things and just anything that a mouse could ever want.
It was just in this beautiful,
Wonderful environment.
And then he put the drug bottle and the water bottle there.
And you want to know what?
No mice get addicted to the drugs.
A couple of them tried it here and there.
They went back to the water.
They didn't get addicted to the drugs and they didn't die.
So what this is showing is that these addictive substances,
It's not just a substance that's the problem.
It's the environment.
It's how the person,
Ultimately the mouse in this case,
But people are interacting with their environment and how happy they are.
So it's and then,
You know,
They kind of use the Vietnam War as an example of a human experiment.
They were very worried when the Vietnam War ended that all the people addicted to the opiates were going to come back to the United States and we're going to have a major problem.
And when they came back,
They found out that only 20% of the people addicted stayed addicted once they got back home.
Only 20% stayed addicted from Vietnam when they came back home.
And that's and I mean,
They weren't coming back home to a really good situation either.
And still only 20% of them stayed addicted.
So it's environment and whether you are happy in your life plays a big part in that.
And this is one example of how studies,
You know,
And it's endless.
That's just a little example.
There are studies that we think are like really blind studies that,
Oh,
Well,
They took out all that stuff and they don't do that.
Well,
Most of those studies you can change too.
Like Google anything.
Google anything that you think is like dead on that says like it's definitely this way.
We've proven it scientifically.
And then like Google it where you're looking at it from the perspective that you want to see and then Google it from a different perspective saying that it isn't true.
And you'll find in most situations you're going to find sometimes the same study pointing to different things.
It's amazing.
So we are not,
We have to let go of this idea that we're sitting there holding on to all the facts,
Making these intelligent decisions and all these other people are idiots.
No,
No,
It's different perspectives.
That's all.
And whatever we're looking for,
We're going to find.
And hey,
I just saw Dr.
Manhattan Domi pop on and I know who you are,
My friend over here in the DR.
I love the name.
You're going to have to explain that to me one time.
But so yeah,
So I mean the solution is we have to understand that we are not in sole possession of the truth.
It's just a perspective.
And we're going to be fine no matter what.
Like we're going to make it through everything.
We're all not going to drop dead.
Look at the statistics.
I mean I understand that a lot of people died,
But I mean this is affecting like 1% of the population or something.
We're not all going to drop dead.
We're going to work through this and we're all going to be fine.
So most of us will be fine.
And some people die.
It happens.
I don't wish it on anybody,
But it's just a fact of life.
It doesn't mean that the world is wrong and you have to go fight it.
So let's anchor back down into love.
Let go of some of the judgment.
Understand that your brain is going to find proof of whatever you're looking for.
You can use that.
Play around with this stuff.
I mean if you want to open your mind,
If you want to live a peaceful,
Happy life,
Like this is really what it's about.
I know that this was kind of focused a little bit on the vaccine,
But it was just an example.
Let go of the damn vaccine.
This is a recipe for life.
Let go of thinking you are in sole possession of the truth and everybody that thinks that doesn't think like you is an asshole.
Let it go.
Relax.
Focus on you and your life and what you want to do.
If you stop worrying about,
You know,
This was how I was like this when I was freaking 16 years old.
My mother used to call me the world police.
Glenn,
Why do you stick your nose in everything?
You know,
Well,
I grew up and now I didn't.
I don't do that like I used to,
You know.
I mean,
I have to put these podcasts out to give people different ways of looking at things.
But I mean,
The fact is,
Is in my personal life,
I don't give a shit who got the vaccine and who didn't.
So.
Yeah,
I had plenty of friends that that that are pro vaccine,
Plenty of friends that are anti vaccine,
And I don't give a shit what side you're on.
If you come over and you say everybody on the other side is an asshole,
Then I don't really want to hang out with you because you're judgmental.
Has nothing to do with the vaccine.
It has the fact that you're judgmental.
So we have to be the change we wish to see in the world.
The solution is be the change you wish to see in the world.
If you want to be loving,
That doesn't mean go get the vaccines and yell at everybody that doesn't.
That's not loving.
That's control.
Be loving means to be accepting and of other people who don't think like you.
You know,
What was Jesus doing?
Running around like finding everybody that thought like he did?
No.
Be the change you wish to see in the world.
If you want to see more love,
Be more loving.
You know,
We have we each,
Including me,
Have plenty of work to do inside of ourselves.
We don't need to worry about the shit going on out there.
So stop looking out there.
Stop focusing on yourself and start doing yourself work.
That's where you're going to find peace.
Peace and happiness comes from within.
It doesn't come from without.
The model for people to be peaceful and happy.
Look around,
Study it,
Research that.
Study people like the Dalai Lama,
Who is a very happy person that's been dealing with being kicked out of Tibet for most of his life.
For atrocities happening to his people.
Bishop Desmond Tutu,
Same thing.
The two of the happiest people on the planet.
But yet they and they're very involved with helping their communities that are that have been going through major atrocities for years and years and years.
But they're loving,
They're kind.
You know,
These are the people that make a difference.
These are the people that we need to model ourselves after.
So be the change you wish to see.
Stop.
You know,
There's a saying in recovery.
When you point the finger at somebody else,
You have three more pointing right back at you.
Right?
So it's three times more important to be working on yourself than it is to be focused on somebody else.
So turn it around.
Focusing on you.
That's where you're going to find peace.
That's where you're going to find happiness.
It comes from within.
The model for peace is not when everybody in the world does what I want them to do,
Then I'll be happy.
I mean,
I know it sounds ridiculous when I say it like that,
But if you look at the way many people are living their lives,
That's their model for happiness.
If they're not happy,
It's everybody else's fault.
Well,
This is wrong.
How can I be happy when that's wrong?
How can I be happy when that's wrong?
That has nothing to do with your happiness.
Your happiness comes from within.
Stop working on that.
It's amazing how much peace,
Love and happiness that you're going to be able to find when you turn it inside.
And how much better you'll get along with other people and how much society will start coming together.
And if we ever love each other enough where we actually treat each other with love,
If there were a common solution,
Like a vaccine that would actually work for everybody,
If that were the case,
Everybody would freaking get it.
Because they would trust one another.
Because they would be in love for one another.
There isn't love for one another.
We have to start there because this freaking COVID is not the only problem on the planet.
We're killing ourselves as a species because we don't love one another.
So we need to start loving one another.
Start there.
Start loving yourself first and then watch that bubble out and give from the overflow.
And you're going to save your life if you do that.
You're going to find peace,
Love and happiness in your world and that's all you should be concerned about.
And it'll start bubbling over to the people,
Your friends and your family and they'll start loving and then we'll be in a loving community and we can all get along and we can solve these problems.
There's solutions to all this shit.
You know,
It's a freaking joke.
Research that too.
You know,
I've done a lot of research,
Man.
There's solutions to poverty.
There's solutions to all this stuff.
There's solutions to every problem that you can name.
There are solutions.
The problem is not that we don't have the solution.
It's that we can't come together as a community and implement these solutions.
That's why.
So we need to start focusing on coming together as a community.
Then we can implement these solutions.
So that's it.
And I saw you,
Liz.
Doing your best.
Yeah,
We all are.
Hey,
And we're not going to do it perfectly.
You know,
I mean,
Look at me.
I get all razzed up when I say stuff and I don't phrase things in a loving way all the time.
You know,
It happens.
It's just what we need to start trying.
We need to start doing our best.
And that's what we're not doing.
We're too busy pointing the finger externally,
Blaming everybody else in the world and circumstances for our unhappiness.
And we have to stop that.
We need to start turning inside,
Doing the self-work,
And then all of a sudden we'll wake up one day in a more peaceful,
Just if your own life gets better.
Isn't that good enough?
Like,
That's reward enough.
So just do it for that.
But I mean,
Spiderwebs and mushrooms and bubbles out,
It affects everybody around you and makes the world a better place.
That's how we're going to change stuff.
So that's it.
That's it for tonight.
Thank you guys for tuning in.
