A calming voice will guide you through this meditation, helping you to relax deeply and give your body the best chance at healing and recovery. Just a few minutes is all it takes to complete this guided meditation so make it a regular part of your post-workout routine. Whether you've just been for an easy walk, some heavy lifting in the gym or you've come back from running a marathon, this meditation will help you to check in with your body and notice any body part that may have overdone it. Deeply relaxing the whole body can also make sure there is no lingering unnoticed and unwanted tension in the body, helping to reduce the chance of injury in your next workout. Transcript

Hi and welcome to this five-minute post-workout guided meditation.

This meditation will work best if you have a place to lie down,

Maybe on the floor or even in your bed,

Somewhere where you can be comfortable and undisturbed for the next five minutes or so.

Coming to that position now,

Settling in and bring the body to complete stillness and closing the eyes if you haven't done already and just beginning to tune into and feel your body as a whole.

Get a sense of your whole body and notice if there are any sensations that your mind is naturally drawn to.

Maybe if you've been working out the legs in the gym or going for a run,

Maybe you can feel that those muscles have been used,

That they're tired.

So just bring your attention into that part of the body,

The part you've been using today in your workout,

Feeling the sensations there and now becoming specifically aware of your feet.

Feel the contact of the heels on the floor,

Feel the arches of the feet and all the toes,

Both feet and see if you can relax.

Relax all the muscles in the toes and the arches and the heels,

Feet becoming heavy,

Deeply relaxed.

Becoming aware of the ankles and up into the calf muscles and the shins,

Deeply relaxing any tension that might be remaining there.

Feel the calf muscles and shins heavy,

Melting into the floor,

Moving up into the knees,

Softening,

Relaxing and further up in to the thighs,

Feeling the thighs,

Relax,

Release and let them be heavy and melt into the floor and continuing right up into the buttocks,

Into the hip joints,

Feeling the body,

Relax,

Release,

Letting go.

As you become aware of the abdomen and the lower back,

Scanning for any tension,

Any fatigue and deeply relaxing,

Letting this part of the body go and doing the same with the upper half of the body,

Relaxing the chest,

The upper back heavy,

Melting into the floor,

Shoulders dropping,

Softening,

Beginning to feel the upper arms from the shoulders down into the elbows,

Relaxing those triceps and biceps.

Maybe you've been working this part of the body today and you can feel that fatigue,

Relax and soften here.

As you move through the elbows into forearms,

Feeling the forearms,

Relaxing the muscles,

Heavy,

Letting go,

Feeling the hands,

The palms,

Thumbs and all the fingers,

Very heavy,

Completely relaxed and then moving your attention to the front of the throat and the back of the neck,

Softening,

Letting go,

Aware of all of the facial muscles,

Feeling the face,

Chin and jaw,

Lips,

Cheeks,

Nose,

Eyes heavy,

Sinking back into the head,

Forehead softening,

Any remaining tension in the head,

Crown,

The sides of the head,

Melting into the floor now and once again,

See if you can become aware of the whole body,

Relax,

Release,

Whole body,

Heavy,

Melting,

Letting go and just resting here for a moment,

Feeling the sensations in the body,

Thanking the body for working hard during your workout,

Feeling that consciousness,

That conscious awareness bathing the whole body,

Healing,

Regenerating the cells,

Healing the muscles,

The joints,

Resting here in that blissful awareness of the whole body and when you're ready,

You can start to bring a little bit of movement back to the fingers and the toes,

Wiggling fingers,

Wiggling toes and breathing in a deeper breath and starting to stretch out the body as we come to the end of this practice,

Our post workout guided meditation is now complete,

Thank you for the practice and if you found this meditation to be useful,

Searched for a nice meditation after my evening jog and stretch, and this was great! The pace, tone in the voice, music, and flow of the meditation were just what I needed. Thank you!
