In this meditation.
We will explore meeting the emotional body.
We can.
.
.
By finding a comfortable position.
You may choose to lay down.
Or sit up,
Whichever supports you.
Wherever you may be.
Letting your eyes avert downward.
Or you may choose to close them.
Begin to sense the breath moving in through the nose.
And back out.
Taking a few more nourishing breaths.
At your own pace.
Each one with the intention.
Of bringing you.
Deeper inside yourself.
Softening any parts of you that want to soften into this.
And also honoring.
Any parts that don't wish to soften.
It can be hard for some of us to access our emotional body.
You may find it useful.
To imagine.
Like you're taking an elevator down.
From the thinking brain.
Into.
The body.
Into.
The emotional landscape.
There is a great wealth of information.
Of messages.
That we can receive.
From our emotional body.
There are gifts.
In our emotions.
And they want to guide us.
To a deeper understanding of ourselves.
They want to bring us to our needs.
To support.
Us feeling more.
Connected to ourselves.
We're making space to hear the emotional parts.
And it's helpful to begin.
To just remember.
The words.
Of the emotions.
Sadness.
Anger.
Joy,
Infusion.
Discussed.
Grief.
Contentment.
And there are so many more.
Be patient with yourself.
As you grow your lexicon.
Of articulating.
And understanding.
Your emotions.
We often feel many emotions.
At the same time.
And for the sake of this meditation.
Let us work with one.
One at a time.
Maybe there's one emotion that feels louder than the others.
Think of this emotion as a messenger.
A part that is asking for your attention.
And in this moment.
You lend your attention to this emotion.
Welcome it into your heart.
To be witnessed.
To be felt.
Be held.
Perhaps you sense this emotion.
On the outside of yourself.
Or maybe on the inside.
And let your attention go to where this emotion may be in the moment.
Or around your body.
For example.
.
.
The sadness in my heart.
Are the anger.
In my jaw.
We don't have to get lost in the story of why it's here.
How it came to be here.
All we are doing is noticing it is here.
Noticing where it may land in your body.
And from the seat of the compassionate witness.
You are expanding your awareness.
By knowing it's here.
And witnessing it.
You may bring your hand to that part of your body.
And safe.
I feel you.
I see you.
I'm with you.
This matters.
This is worthy of my attention.
Breathing.
Staying in connection.
Noticing if your mind wanders,
That's okay,
Just come back to the sound of my voice.
Coming back to your breath.
And noticing.
And giving.
This emotion.
The gift of your attention.
We don't have to do anything about it.
We are simply noticing.
Its presence.
This may bring up.
Other emotional parts that are wanting attention.
If your body feels an impulse to release.
And you feel in a place of connection that that feels right.
Like the next step for you.
You're welcome to follow that.
Such as crying or shaking.
And if your body doesn't feel that,
That's okay too.
Just staying with the witnessing of this emotion.
Hmm.
Staying with the being with.
There's no agenda here.
You're witnessing yourself.
Acknowledging this emotion.
And where it may be at in your body.
Or around your body.
Breathing into this.
And as you stay with this,
Just notice.
Does this emotion have a message?
And it may not.
That it may.
So just tuning in.
And as you come back to the breath,
Taking a deep breath in,
Filling your lungs to capacity and slowly releasing.
Offer this emotion or emotions.
Gratitude.
For showing up.
In letting you witness them.
Thank you.
For choosing to be with your emotional body.
This is.
Of valuable intelligence.
In a deeper way.
That you can be in relationship.
To all of yourself.
A bow of gratitude.
To you.
And your emotions.
Letting the next breath.
Bring your awareness to the space around you.
And letting gravity bring your attention back into the body.
And on the next breath,
Gently opening your eyes if they were closed.
And taking a moment to look around to ground.
