My name is Jillian Buckley.
In this meditation we will be focusing on imagery to quiet the mind.
Start in a comfortable position,
Either sitting or laying down.
Make sure you are warm enough.
Take a slow breath in through the nose.
Release it through the nose or the mouth.
As you settle into the next few breaths,
Notice what thoughts are going through your mind.
Don't get caught up in them.
Don't follow them for too long.
Let the thoughts pass without judgment.
Continue taking deep breaths.
Now I'll begin describing a place.
As I describe it,
Allow your mind to jump to this setting.
Don't try to control what you see in your mind.
Just let the images come and go.
Let's begin.
A field.
A field covered with bright green grass.
A breeze making the grass ripple and move.
A large tree.
Roots running along the earth.
Rough bark.
Wide branches.
The sun shining through the leaves making patterns on the earth.
The call of a bird.
A hammock swaying.
Grass between bare toes.
A tree.
A dirt road.
The crunch of gravel.
A white picket fence.
The creek of the gate as you open it.
Fine covered arches.
Gardens filled with ripe fruit.
A cool breeze.
Darkening the skies.
The smell of rain.
A crack of thunder.
A porch swing.
Damp skin against wood.
A fire.
Wool socks.
The heat from a fire on the skin of your face.
A warm cup of tea.
A large black dog curled up beside you.
Flickering flames.
The glow of the fire.
Flickering flames.
Now take a long deep inhale and slowly let it go.
Wiggle your fingers.
Start coming back into your body.
Bring your mind back to the room.
Open your eyes and thank yourself for taking this time just for you.
