So what is Earth Day?
On April 22nd,
1970,
Senator Gaylord Nelson decided that the issue needed to be raised.
Since there was no EPA,
No Clean Water Act,
And no Clean Air Act,
He felt it was important for our environment to have its own special day.
On that day,
20 million people celebrated in festivities Earth Day.
And guess what?
The fad hasn't gone away.
We celebrate Earth Day every day we breathe in the beautiful oxygen that is a byproduct of what the trees give us as they take in our carbon dioxide.
It's a symbiotic relationship,
One that's been going on a long time,
And we hope to continue for our lives and for our planet.
So as you take a sip of water today,
Be filled with gratitude that you have this water and that it's yours and that it's free.
Most of the time.
So let's just relax and breathe in this beautiful air and feel the wonderful air against our skin.
And know that this planet has been very nurturing for us.
Feel your feet on the ground,
Perhaps even take your shoes off and run your toes through the grass.
And be thankful for all the wonders this planet has on us.
This beautiful blue pearl of a planet that we live on.
And we thrive on.
So close your eyes and give a little gratitude as we breathe in and let go and allow ourselves to be present.
Just where we are.
It's a wonderful thing to be alive and to breathe in this new day,
This moment in time,
And be grateful where we are.
That we have clean air,
We have clean water,
And what a gift it is.
So celebrate.
Every day is Earth Day.
Namaste.
