Overwhelmed?! It just may be that the list of things in life has gotten to be too much and you get that feeling of being on the edge of panic. Come back and take a moment for yourself. Allow yourself to breathe and let go of that "so important to-do list." How important is it anyway? Join me, accompanied by the sound of the Native American flute and a little meditation to let all of that "to-do" stuff go. You will feel much better for it!

Overwhelmed.

I was hoping at this point,

Feelings of hope and freedom would return as we open up to a new normal,

But instead I'm feeling overwhelmed.

Maybe I'm trying to make myself all things to all people,

And you know how that goes.

You know,

Know is a complete sentence.

Somehow I'm feeling guilty when I use it,

And then I feel a need to explain myself.

Maybe it's just the fact I feel frustrated,

Scared,

And worn out,

And maybe need some time for myself.

Everything going on the trip that I planned got stressful with the packing,

The planning,

Hoping to make the plane,

And the plane would take off,

And the weather would be good where we went,

And the unpacking and repacking and coming home.

I'm glad I have pictures to remind me.

I really did have fun.

But it's not just the planning that,

It's the time before I commit myself to another project,

Another deadline,

Another person,

Another job.

Maybe I need a little more time to process what's going on.

Maybe even drop that perfectionist to-do list.

Even fun activities and wishes have turned into a must-do.

So,

Relax.

Find yourself a comfortable space just for a few minutes.

Allow yourself to just slowly breathe and feel the soft rise and fall of the belly.

Feel the oxygen coming in,

And give yourself some nurturing energy.

Allow all the cares,

Worries to get carried out with the out-breath.

Allow for a little more forgiveness for yourself,

A little more nurturing for yourself.

Even the adult birds I've been watching take care of their needs first,

And then their babies.

Breathing in that beautiful,

Delicious oxygen,

And let go of all the expectations and all the tightness.

And maybe feel your hands relaxing,

Relaxing their grip on that to-do list.

Remember the last time your bare feet walked on the earth,

Or your body felt the relaxation of being in water.

Remember some of the places you've been that brought you joy,

Or even just seeing the flower that caught your eye.

Breathe in and hold those precious moments,

And then release with the out-breath all the toxins in your body,

The thoughts that no longer serve you.

And a little forgiveness for yourself,

And all the pressure you put on yourself.

Breathe right now and imagine yourself holding that impossible list that you're supposed to do.

That's it.

Just hold it,

And now just see yourself tearing it up.

And as you're doing that,

Imagine you're talking to your higher power.

Maybe give that list over to your higher power.

They may even laugh and joke to you that maybe you've been playing God a little too much.

Or maybe you've been forecasting your future a little too much.

Oh,

You can always make another list,

But we have to let go of the impossible.

Just focus on what you need to do today.

If you need to call someone or ask for assistance,

Do it.

You can also delegate.

And then say yes to life,

And face the sun,

And realize you're headed in the right direction.

You don't need that big,

Long list.

Now feel you're just a little bit lighter.

Allow yourself to feel the spaciousness of this moment.

Thank yourself for taking a pause.

And thank your higher power for the wisdom to know the difference.

Have a beautiful day.

Namaste.

I just got back from a beautiful vacation and was feeling stressed about going back to my day to day. This was so helpful. I noticed in the beginning I was breathing through my chest and your calming words help me breathe through my diaphragm. This was like a little bath for my heart โ™ฅ๏ธ
