Hi friends,
Welcome to Hawaii.
Join me for a little adventure that's going to take us from land to sea.
To get started,
Find the most comfortable position for you.
Maybe that's laying down on the floor,
A bed,
A mat,
Or sitting down perhaps in a chair,
Or even standing if that's the most comfortable position for you in this moment.
And as we get started,
Let's start by shaking out our hands a bit,
And then placing them in a comfortable position.
And take one of your hands and place them on your belly.
And we're going to fill up that balloon,
That belly balloon,
With air.
Breathing in through your nose,
Filling up your balloon,
And then blowing it out through your mouth.
We're blowing out a candle.
And take another deep breath through your nose,
Fill up your balloon,
And then blow out the candle.
And as we keep breathing,
Listen to the sounds around you.
Do you hear the myna birds singing up in the tree?
Do you hear the breeze in the wind,
Moving the blades of grass,
Moving the leaves about?
Do you hear your own breath as you fill up your balloon?
And as you blow out your candle.
And now we're going to take an adventure and climb up this tree.
Using your hands in whatever position you are,
Start climbing this tree that's right above us.
Oh,
This beautiful silk oak tree.
Oh,
We're climbing so high,
And we're reaching for those branches.
And maybe we're clenching our feet to make sure that we hold on to the trunk of the tree with our feet.
We're climbing with our arms,
Pulling ourselves up,
And clenching our feet to hold on to the trunk.
Now we've reached the top,
And we see something.
What is this on this little branch?
It's a chameleon.
We reach out for this beautiful chameleon.
He's green right now.
Why do you think that is?
We ask him,
Chameleon,
You're such a beautiful green.
Why is it that you're so bright?
And guess what?
The chameleon responds.
He says,
I'm in the tree,
And I'm just trying to be what I can be,
But I don't feel that this is the right place for me.
What do you mean,
Chameleon?
What do you mean this isn't the right place for you?
And the chameleon says,
I feel that my home is over in the ocean.
Can you help me to find my real self?
I think I've lost it somewhere along the way.
I think I'm starfish,
But I'm in the body of a chameleon.
Do you think we can help chameleon turn back into a starfish?
I think I can.
I think you can.
Why don't we take our hand?
This looks just like a starfish,
Doesn't it?
With our five fingers.
So take one of your hands and raise it up in front of you,
And we're going to remind the chameleon what their true self looks like.
And we're going to take our other hand and trace this starfish going up along the fingers,
And down along the fingers,
And up along the fingers,
And down along the fingers.
Chameleon,
This is what your starfish form should look like.
And as we go up the finger,
We're going to fill up our belly with a deep breath,
And we're going to exhale as we come down.
Inhale as we trace up.
Exhale as we come down.
Inhale as we trace up.
Exhale as we trace down.
Inhale as we trace up,
And exhale as we trace down.
Inhale as we trace up,
And exhale as we trace down.
And one more time.
Inhaling as we trace up,
Exhaling as we trace down.
Slow it down so that the chameleon can see what this starfish pattern looks like.
The chameleon says,
I think I'm starting to understand.
This is what the starfish looks like.
Now do you know what you move like as a starfish?
And the chameleon says,
Yes,
I do.
Thank you.
I'm ready to head home to the ocean and make my way back to my authentic self.
Thank you so much for your help.
You helped the chameleon change back and to find themselves.
Join me again next time for our next adventure on a nature-guided meditation.
Bye-bye.
