Hello,
Dr.
Neffi here.
I want to tell you,
There's nothing like nature.
I didn't used to be a person that loved the outdoors,
Partially because my father had a farm and we had 12 horses,
Pigs,
Dogs,
And I used to think it was punitive for me to wake up before the sun and have to feed the horses or feed the dogs or clean up and so on.
And as I've grown three decades later,
I realized that it wasn't punitive.
It was part of me being in alignment with earth in the motion of nature.
And now when I deal with stress and challenges,
My solitude is in nature and there's research that proves that vitamin D,
Not the pill,
You know,
Not the drugs,
But actual vitamin D that we get from the actual sun can help us in so many things,
From alleviating stress,
Anxiety,
Depression,
To just being happier.
A natural serotonin,
Dopamine hit.
Of course you put on sunscreen or if it's too hot you wear a hat or an umbrella,
But they highly recommend,
They being researchers,
That's proven,
To go outside with no sunglasses on and let your eyes actually get some sun the first 20 minutes.
You'll have better energy and your body will process all the things it needs to process even that much better.
I'm outside right now.
I just heard an owl.
I can hear wind chimes.
I can hear the wind and the leaves and the branches rustling.
I can hear the birds singing and I automatically felt a whole lot better.
So this doesn't mean that you have to go outside just on the sunny days.
That's the cloudy days.
That's when it's raining outside.
Walk and dance in the rain.
So if we're like most people who are indoors on a regular basis and people work from home or they work in buildings to where they're constantly inside,
You know,
Stop.
Think about how much you're inside.
You go from your home to the car or the bus or the subway and then you go from there to a building and then you're in the building and you do it all over again.
Take a walk outside on your lunch break.
Take a walk outside,
Just because you're getting ready to go to bed or after you eat.
I just challenge you to get out of nature and just listen.
Use your five senses.
Get connected.
People who are yogis or people who just love hugging a tree,
They hug a tree because they believe in the powerful energy from all things that are living.
And I do too.
Watch the butterfly land on the rose.
Listen to the planes overhead.
So if you haven't done so today,
Get out there.
10 minutes,
15 minutes.
If you're like me,
Do a minimum of 30 minutes a day.
I promise you,
You'll sleep better,
Your emotions will be better regulated,
And overall you'll be happier.
And isn't that what we all want to do?
To be happier and healthier?
Wishing you the best and cheers.
