Hello friends and today I offer a blessing for the broken-hearted written by Jan Richardson.
I offer this blessing in the form of a Lectio Divina.
Loss can come uninvited to our doors.
Our hearts can suddenly find themselves full of sadness or we have become aware of a growing sadness where our hearts feel broken.
In these moments the road ahead may seem too long,
Too hard.
It may feel like it's costing too much to keep going.
Loss comes in different forms and shapes and sizes and the journey through it can be difficult and painful.
This blessing comes as a balm,
A comfort,
A compassion and a hope.
So in preparation I invite you to close your eyes and become aware of the inhale and the exhale,
The ebb and the flow of your breath.
Be aware of yourself in this space,
That you are here and now,
That you are present in this moment.
Letting go of the day so far and of what's coming next.
Being present to simply this,
To what is to this moment.
Allow yourself to be held and supported.
Know that you are seen and loved,
That your life is held in the compassion and the tender-hearted kindness of God and that where your heart feels broken today is seen and known and that it matters.
God is inviting you to walk through this season with hope knowing that your broken heart will find restoration.
So as we come to this blessing for the broken-hearted,
On this first reading I invite you to allow the words to simply be to wash over you and through you.
Let us.
