Today's Joy Work lesson is on prospering.
Today we will reflect on the verb associated with prosperity,
Which is to prosper.
To prosper means to flourish,
Thrive,
Grow,
And succeed.
It's not just about money,
It's about doing well,
Being well.
Those who want to succeed sometimes have a particular aversion to optimism.
Our professional trainings can teach us that all great thought and all success come from having a critical perspective,
And so we wean ourselves from optimism at some point,
And then years later we wonder why we,
And our colleagues and co-workers,
Are so grumpy and dissatisfied.
The problem is that we apply the same critical mind that is necessary in our training to ourselves,
And so we never feel satisfied at a deep level with who we are.
This leads us to feel like we are never a success.
Let's discuss success.
When I think about success,
I feel like I'm striving,
Always looking to the future,
Always wanting something other than what I have.
But successful people are positive and optimistic.
They tend to be proactive,
Organized,
Fearless,
And ready to take action right now.
Let's journal about this right now.
Two minutes each,
I'll ask you four questions.
The first one is,
How could you be more proactive in your life?
How could you be more proactive in your life?
How could you be more proactive in your life?
How could you be more proactive in your life?
Good.
Finish the phrase that you're writing now,
And then ask yourself,
How could you get more organized?
Good.
Good.
Good.
Good.
Good.
Good.
Finish that phrase.
And our next question is,
What would fearlessness feel like?
Good.
Good.
Good.
Good.
Good.
Good.
Good.
Good.
Good.
Very good.
And next I want you to make a list of actions that you could take this week to move to prospering,
To move to feeling already the success that you are.
What are some of those actions?
Good.
Good.
Good.
Good.
Good.
Good.
Very good.
Finish the phrase you're writing now.
And now I'm going to read your journal to the side.
The next thing we'll reflect on today is the connection between prospering and self-worth.
Our ability to prosper is connected to our sense of self-worth.
Many of us have this backwards.
We think that when we are prospering,
We will feel self-worth.
The opposite is actually true.
When we value ourselves,
We create the conditions for prospering.
The way you can put this into practice is to stop waiting.
Act as if you have enough.
Because you do.
Act as if you are enough.
Because you are.
Live and work from that place of abundance.
Because actually there is more than enough.
Be joyful.
We're doing this simply by showing up for your joy work.
In other joy work lessons,
We will delve more into this theme of enoughness and abundance with some journaling exercises.
But your homework for today is to take a piece of paper and write the word joy on it.
That's it.
That's enough.
Because I want you to see and touch and feel what being simply enough in joy is like.
So go ahead and write down the word joy on a piece of paper.
Put it near where you write.
And see what happens when you focus on prospering in joy.
