Hello,
Everyone.
Welcome or welcome back.
This is going to be a audio hub or a top.
Here on this platform where.
We can go a little bit deeper into something that I am currently exploring.
You all seem to really like these.
The last time that I posted them,
I had one about grief.
I have one about becoming and.
.
.
In this episode,
We're going to be talking about what it means to take up space.
I'm learning to take up space.
Somewhere.
In between confidence and self-doubt.
Recently,
I've been savoring the in-between moments.
Where I want to be and where I am now.
I'm embracing that discomfort where God is asking me to try new things,
To put myself out there in new ways.
And to trust him.
To trust him to bring the right opportunities,
The right people,
And the right moments where I can fully show up as myself unapologetically.
I'm realizing that sometimes that will be hard.
It won't always feel good to show up as myself because some days.
I don't know who self is in this season.
Because I'm actively redefining and rediscovering.
A little reminder of what I'm capable of.
Recently,
I had a DJ gig that came through a connection I made at a previous gig that I did for free.
The person I met felt that there was alignment.
With my music and my style.
And that connection turned into a paid opportunity to work with the family here in the city where I reside.
My job as the DJ and MC was to curate sounds that invited present joy,
Expression,
And energy into the room.
And like I mentioned,
I also had to emcee,
Which was something I had never done before.
I've hosted events in the past,
But this felt different.
I had to bring a different kind of energy,
One that doesn't necessarily come natural to me,
If I'm being honest.
And I didn't.
Leading up to the event,
I had moments where I felt so unsure of myself,
Y'all.
I felt like an imposter.
But I felt the fear and I did it anyway.
I felt the discomfort and I moved through it anyway.
And on the other side,
I felt powerful and confident.
And I received compliments from the host,
The guest organizer.
It was an incredible reminder of what I'm capable of when I'm willing to try something new.
Even when I'm not entirely sure of myself.
Getting comfortable being seen.
So later that evening,
I found myself navigating a different kind of discomfort at a different event.
I started wondering if I was doing too much,
If I was being too loud,
Too expressive with my fashion,
Or too captivating with my looks.
If the way that I showed up was actually drawing attention away from the main event.
That we were all there to celebrate.
And it made me think about how complicated it can feel to take up space while also being mindful of the people around you.
I'm still learning how to navigate that tension.
How to be considerate of others without constantly questioning myself.
How to center my comfort.
How to fully show up without feeling like I need to shrink myself to make everyone else comfortable.
I want to get comfortable with being seen.
Not just when I feel confident,
But also when I feel unsure of myself.
When I'm trying something new,
And when I'm still figuring out who I'm becoming.
Because maybe.
That's part of the in-between.
Learning to trust yourself as you grow into the person you're becoming.
Receive a deep breath with me.
Breathing in through your nose.
And out through your mouth.
Here are a few questions I'd like you to reflect on in your journal or in your quiet time.
Number one.
Was something you've had to step into recently that made you feel uncomfortable.
Or unsure of yourself.
Do you feel comfortable taking up space?
And if so,
What does that look like for you?
When you do take up space.
Do you find yourself worrying?
About how other people might feel or perceive you.
Let's receive another deep breath in through our nose and I'll repeat those questions.
Breathing out through the mouth.
What's something you've had to step into recently?
That made you feel uncomfortable.
Or unsure of yourself.
Do you feel comfortable?
Taking up space.
And if so.
.
.
What does that look like for you?
When you do take up space.
Do you find yourself worrying about?
How other people might feel or perceive you.
I'd love to hear what this looks like for you too.
Thank you for listening to this audio hug from me.
And I hope you.
Have a beautiful day.
I'll talk to you guys in the next one.
