Hello everyone and welcome to Mindful Meditation by Dr.

E.

That's me.

And we're going to start with our Christ-filled series,

Part one,

Which is awareness.

And I'll start by defining what awareness is.

Awareness is the ability to directly know,

To perceive,

To feel,

Or to be cognizant of events.

Spiritual awareness,

On the other hand,

Is the state of being conscious of spiritual matters.

In this meditation,

We will focus on godly awareness and take time to work to train our minds to be more aware of God by first focusing on the breath of life and then going into some Christian scriptures on how to be attentive to the presence of God.

So let's start by settling down into a comfortable position.

You could be lying down flat on your back or sitting in a chair,

Whatever is comfortable for you.

And allow your eyes to close gently or keep them open with a softened gaze,

Either looking down if you're sitting in a chair or looking up if you're on your back lying down.

Start by taking several long,

Deep breaths,

Breathing in fully and exhaling fully.

Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth,

Allowing your breath to find its own natural rhythm.

Remember that God created us uniquely as with our breaths.

We have a unique breathing pattern that we need to become aware of.

Take time to focus on that pattern and that rhythm that's uniquely yours given to you by Christ.

Now bring your attention to noticing each breath as it enters your nostrils.

Notice how it travels down your lungs and how it causes your belly to expand.

And then notice each out-breath as your belly contracts and then air moves through the lungs,

Back through the nostrils,

Our mouth.

And invite your full attention to your rhythm,

Your flow of your breath,

The wonderful breath of life that Christ gave us.

You may be experiencing cool air as it enters your nose or warm air as you exhale.

Just take notice of how these breaths feel with each deep inward breath and with each breath that you exhale.

Now let's turn our attention to the presence of God.

Psalms 139,

7 through 8 says,

Where can I go from spirit?

Where can I flee from your presence?

If I go up to heaven,

You are there.

If I make my bed,

You are there also.

This scripture,

Like many other,

Confirms the presence of God and that the love and the presence of God is everywhere.

Take some time to imagine that,

That with wherever you go,

You can't flee from his presence.

When you go to heaven,

He's going to be there.

When you lie down in your bed,

He's going to be there.

He's even there with you now as you lie in this meditation or as you sit still,

Just focusing on his breaths.

And Timothy 114 says,

Guard the good deposit through the Holy Spirit who lives in us.

One of God's good deposits is love.

We've all experienced love.

Think of love and how it comforts you and know that the love comes from the Holy Spirit given to us by Christ,

Which is in us.

Imagine his infinite love.

Does it make you feel knowing and being aware of his presence?

Does it give you a new perspective on being alone and being with him?

Isn't it wonderful to know that wherever you shall be and can be,

God is there.

Realizing that man is always somewhere,

But God is always everywhere.

Taking a few minutes to think on these things without any judgment,

But only in the feeling of awareness.

Let's bring your attention back to behaviors.

This is a behavior and one that you'll need to focus on to increase the awareness of God.

There are several actions for spiritual focus that you can do through prayer and meditation and silence and being and reflection to increase your awareness of Christ in your life.

I'm going to give you three things to focus on.

I'd like you to take those three things and just take time to meditate on those.

I'm going to go slowly and read the first.

I'm going to make the love of God the aim of all my actions,

Giving him more of myself.

Two,

I'm going to look for God's goodness in all things,

Training myself to see his gifts.

Three,

I'm going to redirect my heart and mind to him increasing my awareness.

I'd like you to focus on these three things or maybe one of those that resonates with you.

It might be giving more of yourself to him,

Training yourself to see his gifts,

Or just increasing your heart and mind to know that he's there.

I'd like you to take some time to set your intention to use this practice throughout the day to help cultivate and strengthen your awareness of God.

You're ready.

You can open your eyes now knowing that the focus that you're going to do and you have done was on God and that you're going to give him time,

You're going to read his scripture,

And you're going to change your behavior to be more aware of him.

This Du structures your heart.

Please look on the screen for a second.
