A reminder that light surrounds us at all times, including our inner light, which lights our path and the path of others. Our light is a powerful force that can help bring peace to our world. Never dim your light for others. Rather, let your light shine so that others have the courage to do the same.

This time of year can bring about a lot of stress through feeling that we need to be busy.

However,

If we change the way we see our surroundings,

We can still stay productive,

Yet find peace in the everyday.

This holiday season is full of light.

All of these winter holidays surround themselves with light and have us focus on the light.

Let's spend some time now in our own silence and quiet so that we too can look to the light,

The light that we have within.

Go ahead and get yourself comfortable.

Close your eyes or rest your gaze on the floor below you or the ceiling or sky.

Let us start by taking a long,

Slow,

Deep breath in through our nose and releasing that breath out of your mouth.

Again,

Another long,

Slow,

Deep breath in through your nose and just release.

Let everything go.

Become aware of your natural breathing.

How does your body breathe for you?

Feel your body breathe with each inhale and exhale of your breath.

Notice,

Do you breathe in and out of your mouth,

In and out of your nose or a combination of the two?

Let's feel your body breathe for you for a few moments.

And bring your awareness to the space between your eyebrows.

Allow this area to soften.

Now allow that softness to spread up your forehead.

Across your forehead,

Down your temples.

Allow that softness to circle your eyes and move behind your eyes.

Allow that softness to move down your cheekbones to the corners of your mouth.

Allow the top of your mouth to release your tongue and to drop your tongue to the floor of your mouth.

Let that softness move to your chin,

Up your jaw line,

To the outer ear,

The inner ear,

And to that temporomandibular joint where the skull and jaw connect.

Just release the tension in this joint and soften.

Release and soften.

Become aware of any area in your body that may need healing.

And with your next deep,

Healing breath in through your nose,

Bring that breath to this area of your body that needs healing.

Surround this area and exhale out of your mouth.

And become aware of your natural breathing once again.

Feel your body give life.

We are surrounded by light from the divine.

Whether that's our God,

The universe,

Nature,

Our higher self,

We are surrounded by light if only we see it.

Even in our darkest hours,

There is light surrounding us from the divine.

We have light within us as well.

Even if it is just a small flicker of a flame,

There is light within and we should never dim our light to make others feel comfortable.

So our light is what gives guidance to others,

Helps others to have the courage to shine their light as well.

Take a long,

Slow,

Deep breath in through your nose,

Bringing that breath into your body and letting that flicker of light dance within and become larger as you exhale out of your mouth.

Take a long,

Slow,

Deep breath in through your nose,

Bringing that breath to that flame,

Making it larger,

Filling your entire body and exhale that light into the room that surrounds you.

Take another long,

Slow,

Deep breath in through your nose,

Bringing that breath to that flame,

Making it even larger,

And exhale out of your mouth,

Filling the entire house,

Building wherever you may be.

Take another long,

Slow,

Deep breath in through your nose,

Igniting that flame even more,

Making it so large that when you exhale,

You are filling up your entire state with that light.

Take another long,

Slow,

Deep breath in through your nose,

And as you exhale,

Let your light extend,

Covering your entire country and moving north and south along the hemispheres.

Take another deep breath in,

And as you exhale this time,

Allow your light to just surround our world,

Making it a brighter place.

Take a long,

Slow,

Deep breath in through your nose,

And this time with your light,

Send it to one person who could use your light.

Allow your light to envelop them,

Comfort them,

Bringing them peace and love.

Take another long,

Slow,

Deep breath in through your nose,

Feeling your light throughout your body,

Shining through each one of your pores.

And with your palms spread wide,

Feel this light as it shines from your palms,

Ready to give light to others.

Feel the light dance in the palms of your hands and in your fingertips,

And feel the light that you have within your heart.

Know that this light was given to you from the divine to light your own path and to light the path and hearts of others as well.

Let us bring to mind the mantra,

I am light.

I am light.

And with each inhale or exhale of breath,

Let us repeat the words,

I am light.

I am light.

I am light.

As thoughts of the future or thoughts of the past come into your mind,

Gently let them float by as if they are clouds and come back to your mantra,

I am light.

I am light.

Take a long,

Slow,

Deep breath in through your nose,

Bringing that breath to your heart,

Surrounding your heart with that breath.

As your light becomes stronger and larger,

And then exhale that light out to that one person who you know needs to be surrounded with your light.

Feel your body full of light.

Feel the light in the palms of your hands.

Know that you are light from the divine.

Take a long,

Slow,

Deep breath in through your nose,

Bringing that breath to your heart,

Surrounding your heart with that breath,

And exhale out of your mouth.

Allow the effects of the meditation to sink into your bones.

Know that you are surrounded by light.

Know that you have light within.

Share that light with others so that they too have courage to shine their light.
