Welcome,
Dear dreamer.
Tonight,
This somatic healing yoga nidra practice.
Will gently guide you and support vagus nerve regulation.
Help the body release the tension it has carried throughout the day.
And guide you toward deep,
Restorative sleep.
Through breath,
Stillness,
And embodied awareness.
Beneath my voice,
Delta binaural beats will offer a steady rhythmic foundation.
Inviting the mind towards slower states as you gradually descend into rest.
There is a story called The Emperor's Forbidden Garden.
In an ancient kingdom.
There lived an emperor who possessed a garden said to be the most beautiful in all the land.
Cherry trees arched over stone paths.
Lotus flowers opened across still ponds.
Bamboo whispered beside small streams.
In spring the air was filled with blossoms.
In autumn,
Golden leaves covered the earth.
The emperor loved the garden more than anything else in his palace.
But as the years passed,
He began to notice its imperfections.
A thorn appeared beneath a flowering rose.
A weed pushed through the stones.
Caterpillars chewed small holes in the leaves.
Beetles crawled beneath fallen branches.
And when autumn came,
Dying leaves gathered beneath the trees.
The emperor summoned his gardeners.
I want this garden to be a place of perfect beauty,
" he said.
Remove everything that does not belong.
So the gardeners cut away every thorn.
They pulled every weed from the soil.
They carried away fallen leaves before they could turn brown.
They removed insects from the flowers.
They cleared rotting branches from beneath the trees.
Whenever a blossom began to wilt,
They plucked it away.
Whenever a leaf showed the smallest sign of decay,
It was removed.
Soon nothing unpleasant remained.
The paths were spotless.
The flowers were flawless.
Not a single dead leaf touched the ground.
The emperor walked through the garden and smiled.
At last,
He said,
Now it is perfect.
For a time,
It seemed that he would be right.
But slowly,
Something began to change.
The birds stopped coming.
Without insects,
There was little for them to eat.
Without fallen leaves,
The soil grew thin and dry.
The worms disappeared.
The flowers became smaller.
And the fruit trees produced less fruit.
Even the lotus pond grew strangely still.
The emperor ordered more water.
More fertilizer.
More gardeners.
Still,
The Garden Weekend.
Each year,
Fewer blossoms opened.
Branches became brittle.
The earth beneath the trees hardened.
And the garden,
That had once seemed alive with countless voices,
Became strangely quiet.
One morning,
The emperor found an old gardener kneeling beneath a dying plum tree.
In his hands was a pile of fallen leaves.
What are you doing?
The Emperor demanded.
These leaves should be removed.
The old gardener looked up.
My emperor,
" he said gently.
May I show you something?
He lifted one of the leaves.
This leaf falls.
Then he crumbled it between his fingers and let it fall back onto the earth.
It becomes soil.
He pointed toward a small worm moving beneath the leaves.
This creature loosens the ground so that rain can enter.
He gestured toward a bee resting on a nearby flower.
This one carries life from blossom to blossom.
He touched a thorn growing from a rosebush the other gardeners had overlooked.
And even this protects what is tender.
The Emperor looked around.
For years,
He had seen these things as intruders.
As ugliness.
As evidence that the garden was not yet perfect.
The old gardener placed both hands upon the earth.
The garden was never alive because everything in it was beautiful,
He said.
It was alive because everything belonged.
The emperor said nothing.
That autumn,
He gave a new order.
The leaves were allowed to fall.
The insects returned.
Wild grasses were permitted to grow along the edges of the paths.
Branches were left beneath trees long enough to soften back into the earth.
The gardeners no longer removed every thorn.
They began to listen to the garden rather than forcing it into perfection.
At first,
The Emperor found the change difficult.
He saw wilted petals beside fresh blossoms.
Brown leaves among green ones.
Mud after the rain.
Bees buzzing where once there had been perfect stillness.
But slowly,
The soil darkened again.
Worms returned beneath the trees.
Birdsong filled the mornings.
The fruit grew sweet.
And the following spring,
The garden bloomed more abundantly than the emperor had ever seen.
Standing beneath a cherry tree,
He watched pink petals fall onto old brown leaves.
For the first time,
He did not ask anyone to sweep them away.
He understood now.
The dying leaf nourished the flower.
The thorn guarded the rose.
The insect carried life between blossoms.
What appeared unwanted was woven into everything that made the garden whole.
And the emperor saw that the human heart is much the same.
We welcome joy and call it beautiful.
We welcome love.
Peace.
But grief,
Anger.
Fear.
Loneliness,
And uncertainty we may try to pull from ourselves like weeds.
We may believe that peace will come when nothing difficult remains.
Yet the soul is not a garden made only of blossoms.
Sometimes grief deepens our capacity to love.
Sometimes anger shows us where something precious needs protecting.
Sometimes fear asks us to move gently toward what matters.
Sometimes the things we wish most urgently to remove are already becoming the soil from which something new will grow.
And so,
The emperor stopped asking his garden to contain only what pleased him.
He allowed it to be alive.
For he finally learned it.
Wholeness is not the absence of what we find difficult.
It is the wisdom to understand that even the fallen leaves belong.
Tonight,
Let that wisdom settle gently into the body.
Perhaps there are places within you that you have been trying to prune away.
Feelings you have judged.
Thoughts you have wished would disappear.
Parts of yourself you have quietly labeled as inconvenient,
Difficult.
Unwanted.
And perhaps you have imagined that peace will only arrive after all these things are gone.
But your inner world was never meant to be a perfect garden.
It was meant to be alive.
And being alive means seasons.
Blossoms and falling leaves.
Warmth and rain.
Growth,
And decay.
Moments of openness and moments when something within us pulls inward and waits beneath the soil.
Nothing about that makes the garden wrong.
Perhaps tonight,
Instead of removing what appears,
We can simply listen.
If sadness is here,
Let it be here.
If fear is here,
Allow it a little room.
If anger is here,
Perhaps it is protecting something tender.
If uncertainty has followed you into the night.
You do not need to solve it before you rest.
You are not required to turn every fallen leaf into a blossom.
You can let the inner garden be exactly as it is.
Because sometimes the deepest healing begins not when we finally become free of everything uncomfortable.
But when the body realizes,
It no longer has to fight itself.
And in that absence of struggle.
Something softens.
Something begins to compost.
Something that once felt heavy may slowly become nourishment.
Through this meditation,
We are not trying to create a perfectly calm mind.
We are simply creating enough safety for the whole of you to be here.
The blossoms.
The thorns.
The tender green shoots.
The fallen leaves.
All belong to one living garden.
So now,
Let yourself become comfortable.
Allow the surface beneath you to receive the full weight of your body.
Let the back of the head rest.
Let the shoulders loosen.
Let the muscles around the eyes soften.
Let the hands become heavy.
And let the belly release in its own time.
Nothing needs to be pulled out by the roots tonight.
Nothing needs to be made perfect before you can sleep.
When you're ready,
Place one hand gently over your heart.
And one hand over your belly.
Feel the warmth beneath your palms.
The heart beneath one hand.
The breath moving beneath the other.
Imagine that beneath your hands is an entire living landscape Acquire its inner garden.
Some places flowering.
Some places,
Resting.
Some still waiting for spring.
Take a slow breath in through the nose and exhale gently through the mouth.
Again,
Breathing in softly and letting the exhale become a little longer.
One more time,
A smooth,
Effortless inhale.
And along.
Gentle breath outs.
Now,
Allow the breath to move naturally through the nose.
No need to control it.
No need to make it perfect.
Simply notice the rise beneath your hands and the fall.
Breathing in.
Making room for what is here.
Breathing out.
Softening the urge to change it.
Again,
Breathing in.
Allowing this moment to belong.
Breathing out.
Letting the body settle more deeply.
Into support.
Let each longer exhale become a quiet message.
To the vagus nerve.
A gentle signal of safety.
Moving through the body.
You do not need to fight yourself.
You do not need to remove anything.
You are allowed to rest as you are.
Breathing in,
Welcoming the whole garden.
Breathing out.
Softening around what feels difficult.
Breathing in,
Allowing every season to have its place.
Breathing out.
Remembering that nothing needs to remain forever.
And if a thought arises,
Let it be another leaf.
If a feeling moves through the body,
Let it be another season.
No need to hold it.
No need to push it away.
Simply allow it to move through the larger landscape of awareness You are not only the blossom.
You are not only the thorn.
You are not only the fallen leaf You are the whole living garden.
Spacious enough for all of it.
And now,
Before we go deeper,
Quietly set your sankalpa your heart-centered intention for this practice.
You might repeat silently.
I welcome myself exactly as I am.
Everything within me.
Is allowed to soften.
Sleep comes gently and easily.
Again,
I welcome myself exactly as I am.
Everything within me is allowed to soften.
Sleep comes gently and easily.
One final time,
Softly within.
I welcome myself exactly as I am.
Everything within me is allowed to soften.
Sleep comes gently and easily.
Let those words settle gently within you.
Like rain sinking into dark earth.
Like fallen leaves becoming fertile soil.
Like the first quiet signs of spring already forming beneath the ground.
In a few moments,
We will begin moving through the body with awareness.
Allowing each part of you to be noticed,
Softened,
And released.
So take one more slow breath in.
And a long gentle breath out.
Let your hands rest wherever they feel most natural.
And now,
We begin.
Everything belongs.
Let everything belong here.
The blossom.
The thorn.
The golden leaf.
Falling back toward the earth.
Joy may enter.
Grief may enter.
Fear may rest a while beside the door.
You are spacious enough for all of it.
A garden does not become whole by keeping only spring.
The fallen leaf softens into soil.
The rain darkens the earth.
The hidden root drinks deeply from what has been given back.
And within you too.
Everything is becoming something.
Sorrow becoming tenderness.
Anger becoming clarity.
Fear becoming care for what matters most.
Nothing within you needs to be exiled The heart can hold many seasons at once.
A fresh blossom.
A fading petal.
A wild green shoot.
Rising through the stone.
So welcome what arrives.
Let it breathe.
Let it speak.
Let it pass through in its own time.
You are the garden.
You are the soil beneath every season.
You are the life that keeps unfolding through all of it.
And even the fallen leaves become flowers.
And now,
Gently bring your awareness into the center of your chest not forcing anything.
Not trying to feel anything in particular Simply allow your attention to rest.
In the space of the heart as though your awareness could gather there softly.
Like a small flame glowing in the quiet.
And let the breath begin to slow.
Breathing in gently.
And breathing out slowly.
And as you continue to breathe Imagine that each breath is moving directly through the heart Breathing in through the heart.
Breathing out through the heart.
Softly in.
And softly out.
Allow the heart to become a doorway.
A doorway into stillness.
A doorway into trust.
A doorway into the deeper intelligence of life itself.
And with each breath.
Feel the body beginning to understand that this moment is safe.
The mind does not need to search.
The body does not need to hold.
The heart does not need to protect itself from this moment.
For now,
There is only breath.
Only the heart.
Only this quiet return to yourself.
Breathing in through the heart.
Breathing out through the heart And now,
Begin to invite the feeling of gratitude.
Not as a thought,
Not as something you have to explain but as a warmth.
A gentle emotional frequency in the heart.
Perhaps gratitude for this breath.
Gratitude for this body.
Gratitude for being held.
By the universe.
Gratitude for the infinite abundance.
Of the universe.
With its infinite stars.
And infinite planets in the cosmos.
With its infinite variety of life and expression.
Infinite beauty.
And the realization that we are a creation of this infinite universe.
We are not just of this universe.
We are literally the universe in motion.
Embodied.
We are literally the universe itself.
And therefore,
We are infinite abundance itself.
And in this realization.
We can express it each and every moment.
And hold gratitude for it.
Each and every moment.
Let this feeling of gratitude expand from your heart space to feel.
Your whole body.
Healing you.
Returning to wholeness.
A radiant glow in the heart.
A soft inner yes.
And as this feeling begins to awaken,
Allow it to expand.
Let the heart begin to feel the life you are calling into being.
Not as something far away.
Not as something you must chase.
But as a living presence.
Already beginning to bloom.
Within you.
Feel the essence of that life now.
A piece of it.
The vitality of it.
The abundance of it.
The freedom of it.
The love of it.
The inspiration of it.
As though some deeper part of you already knows the way.
Because the universe is not separate from you.
But moving through you.
Breathing through you.
Dreaming through you.
And now,
Allow this feeling to begin spreading.
Through the body.
From the heart.
Let it flow gently into the shoulders.
Softening the shoulders.
Releasing the weight you have carried Let gratitude move down through the arms.
Into the elbows.
The forearms,
The wrists,
The palms of the hands.
All the way into the fingers.
As though your hands are becoming open to receive infinite abundance.
Open to create open to bless the life unfolding before you Now,
Let this feeling spread.
From your heart.
Into the throat.
Softening the throat Opening the voice releasing any unspoken words that no longer needs to be held.
Let the throat become clear and spacious.
A channel for truth.
A channel for love.
A channel for inspired expression.
Now,
Allow this warmth to rise into the face.
Softening the jaw.
The cheeks,
The eyes.
On the forehead.
Let the muscles around the eyes release.
And let the space behind the eyes become quiet.
As though the mind is floating now.
Resting.
In the glow of the heart.
And let this feeling move upward.
Gently surrounding the crown of the head.
As though your whole being is opening to a higher intelligence.
A loving intelligence.
And infinite intelligence.
The same intelligence that moves the stars opens the flowers.
Heals the body.
And guides the breath.
Now let this feeling pour down from the heart into the belly.
Softening the stomach Relaxing the abdomen.
Letting the belly receive this message of safety You are allowed to rest.
You are allowed to receive.
You are allowed to live from trust.
Let the warmth move into the hips and pelvis.
Softening the deep center of the body.
Releasing tension from the places where old fear old effort.
And old survival may have been stored.
Let this area become spacious.
Grounded.
Supported Now,
Allow the feeling to move down through the thighs the knees,
The calves.
The ankles the feet.
All the way down to the toes.
And now the whole body is breathing.
With the heart.
The whole body is listening to the heart.
The whole body is becoming one with a field of gratitude.
Abundance.
Healing.
And quiet possibility Rest here for a moment.
Feeling the body as though it is already living in harmony.
With the life you are calling in.
A body that knows peace.
A mind that trusts life a heart that is open to receive.
And now,
Silently or gently within,
Allow an intention to arise.
Something simple.
Something true.
Perhaps.
I am open to the most abundant.
Healing.
Inspired expression of my life.
I allow my heart and mind to come into harmony.
I embody the feeling.
Of the life my soul is ready to live.
Let this intention settle into the body.
Not as a demand.
Not as a pressure.
But as a seed.
A sacred seed.
Placed into the fertile soil of the subconscious mind.
And as this seed is planted,
There is nothing more you need to do.
Nothing to force.
Nothing to figure out nothing to hold together.
Let the breath become natural now.
Let the body become heavy.
And let the heart remain open.
And effortless.
And begin to release even the meditation itself.
Release the need to visualize.
Release the need to manifest Release the need to become.
Simply rest.
And awareness.
Open.
Quiet.
Spacious.
Let the body dissolve into the surface beneath you.
Let the mind dissolve into silence.
Let the heart dissolve.
Into the infinite field of life.
There is only space now.
Soft endless space breath moving by itself.
Life moving by itself the universe breathing you gently into rest.
And in this spaciousness.
You do not need to reach for anything.
The feeling is already here.
The seed already planted.
The heart already knows.
So allow yourself to drift.
Deeper into stillness.
Deeper into openness.
Deeper into the quiet luminous space.
Where all things are possible.
The heart can hold many seasons at once.
A fresh blossom.
A fading petal.
A wild green shoot.
Rising through the stone.
So welcome what arrives.
Let it breathe.
Let it speak Let it pass through in its own time.
You are the garden.
