In this meditation,
We are going to work on becoming present in order for us to relieve anxiety and stress that we're holding onto.
The best way to relieve anxiety is when we become focused in the moment.
You see,
Anxiety comes from our thoughts of the future.
What if this happens?
What if that happens?
And sometimes from our thoughts of the past?
I can't believe I did that.
I dislike the way I behaved in that moment.
We can get caught within our minds,
So when we're present,
We become more free and relaxed.
So we're going to focus on the five senses today.
We can see,
Taste,
Touch,
Smell and feel.
Because the five senses ground us in the present moment.
So that's exactly how we're going to alleviate anxiety today.
Before we begin,
I want to first concentrate on our breathing.
Firstly breathe in through your nose,
Hold at the top,
And breathe out through your mouth.
Breathe in through your nose,
Hold at the top,
And breathe out through your mouth.
Once again,
Breathe in through your nose,
Hold at the top,
And out through your mouth.
I want you to continue this breathing pattern for a little while by yourself,
And I'll come back to you in a moment.
Okay,
So now I want you to focus on ordinary relaxed breathing.
First of all,
What can you taste?
Perhaps you can taste something from the meal you had earlier,
Or maybe you've just got a plain taste within your mouth.
Focus on what it is that you can taste at this moment.
Now focus on what you can hear.
Perhaps you can hear the background noise of the room,
Or maybe something going on outside.
Or if you're outside,
Perhaps you can hear birds chirping.
Just focus on what's around you.
Okay,
Now I want you to focus on what you can feel.
If you're sitting down,
Perhaps you can feel the chair,
Or if you're outside,
Perhaps you can feel your feet within your shoes,
Or the clothes against your skin.
Now let's focus on what you can smell around you.
And finally,
What can you see?
What's in your immediate surroundings?
What kind of colours are there?
Shapes are there?
Just focus on everything around you.
Okay,
Now you're focused on your senses.
Hopefully your anxiety is slowly relieving.
Now for the next couple of minutes,
I want you to focus on all five senses.
It doesn't have to be in any particular order.
You don't have to do anything in any particular way.
I just want you to be where you are,
And just experience.
Just feel the moment.
Pay attention to your senses,
And what's going on around you.
And if you wander off into your mind,
That's okay,
Don't get frustrated.
Just gently bring yourself back to the present moment.
Refocus,
And just continue to just feel for a while.
Okay,
So hopefully now you're feeling a little more present,
And hopefully feeling more relaxed,
Less stressed,
And more focused.
I hope that you enjoyed this meditation today,
And thank you for listening.
Hope you have an amazing day.
