This is a poem by Leah Kumayama about building empathy and spreading peace in the world through Holistic Empathy Development (HED). Leah wrote this poem when she was in the midst of developing her business Empathy World and felt inspired to practice creative self expression as a part of her path to empathy. Compassion,

Empower your passion,

Expression through art,

Movement,

Music,

Holistic inspiration,

Not waiting for a standing ovation,

Transforming culture,

Mitzvahs,

Kindness,

Dialogue,

Open-mindedness,

Leading with brain and heart,

Learning to be aware and start,

Understanding other sides,

Hearing words,

Taking stride,

There are laws we can't abide because those laws are suicide,

And passion is my passion and hope,

Join us in this uphill slope,

Help us cope,

Intercultural trope,

Summoning,

Calling,

Edging,

Ear loop,

Not stopping till we've won,

Not giving in to guns,

Perspectives,

Alliances,

Using sciences,

Joining a movement without a name,

But joining the people who feel the same,

We will work together to energize,

Strategize,

Sympathize,

Empathize,

Until compassion heals our core,

We will grow from the sore that has blackened our lungs to call out for more,

Hatred,

We stop,

Turn,

Learn,

Affirm,

What we always knew,

That justice can't always be true,

But if you can feel it,

I can too.
